You’d have to be blind to watch both of them on a regular basis and think Saka has been the better player over the last 12 months.

To play devils advocate. Saka has been playing at a good level for 2-3 years whilst Palmer is really only 1 year but he’s not showing signs of slowing up this season.

Palmer doesn't roll around on the floor clutching his ankle flicking his fingers every challenge on him trying to get the other player booked, unless it's a nasty challenge he gets up and gets on with it..and of course theres one other reason why the media prefers him

I agree - but the media bias is there for all to see, and people lap it up.

Saka  is pretty average in my eyes, rarely takes on a man (let alone beat him), not a particularly good finisher or crosser, and hardly a physical specimen to marvel at - But because he is playing at the latest media darlings, and has a romantic backstory (immigrant parents, coming to London to better themselves and find a new life  etc) - it is a more attractive sell to the masses than a manc council estate rat, who ditched pep and came to the most hated club in london.

Disagree fully. Saka is really good at finishing. Not world class but really good at placing the ball into the corner. His goals are rarely tap ins. Regarding the crossing, he is arguably one of the best crossers in the league. He is pinpoint with his crossing. He always manages to shift the ball from the right wing onto his left foot and pick out Havertz or someone else with a headed goal. He has brilliant strength and balance too, no matter how small he looks in stature. I think you are watching a different player. Maybe you are thinking of Martinelli...

You sure your not Arteta under a different name?

You can see my posts to that I am one off the biggest anti-Arsenal people. Can't stand Arteta but I rate Saka as a player. He is a quality player no doubt about it. I just say it how I see it.

Makes me hope Estevao is as good as he is hyped up to be. Imagine him and Palmer working together. Imagine is Paez really is that good too.

I think the owners did a really good job securing 2 wonderkids I wish they also got endrick

That would have been the icing on the cake lol

I dont think paez and Palmer and estevao can play in the same team? Unless paez plays LW

Estevao can play on the left I believe, bit like Neto is an either left or right winger but prefers the right.

You're having a laugh if you think the UK media are interested in telling romantic immigrant stories

There was an independent review of BBC reporting in the subject just this year - showing how they operate, and balance pro/against views. It is a political hot potato, and they absolutely ( as the independent panel concluded) make an attempt to balance perspectives by such reporting.

Anyway - It's a football thread - but there is absolutely a pro campaign in the media, and his life story is part of that.

I actually think the opposite- I have noticed Palmer spending a lot more time on the floor this season and has gestured a number of times an imaginary card to the ref. And I don't blame him. He is being fouled a lot more, and is trying to make sure the refs are aware of it early.

I agree with the narrative that Saka is preferred over Palmer in the media, just think this example isn't true.

Just a ridiculous stat for a kid, what a signing he's been.

Hmm, all you really need is a prime Kante and you could:

Kante

Salah

Palmer

Son

Haaland

Watkins.

This lad is world class. I don’t know why southgate didnt play him in the euros.

Because Southgate was a negative coach. He was always more concerned about what the opposition could do to hurt England and was blind towards noticing how good his own squad was. It's the reason why he lost two European finals.
