June 24, 20242 yr Loved the interaction with Estevao.. ohh lord slowly this will get to hazard level excitement. I remember when Eden was to sign .. I went crazy .. hoping the same with him.
June 24, 20242 yr So in 2 years time ish.... Estevao on the left, Palmer in the middle, paez on the right, Jackson up top (just to annoy the Jackson haters...lol) And....Palmer will be old compared to the rest of the squad at 23-24! Edited June 24, 20242 yr by Simplymo

PROBLEM IS WOKEGATE AND THE MEDIA LOVE SAKA, HE CANT DO NO WRONG IN THEIR EYES, ALONG WITH GOLDEN BOY BELLINGHAM... WOKEGATE NEEDS TO SHOW SOME BOLLOCKS AND DROP BOTH, PLAY MANOU ALONGSIDE RICE, GORDON ON LEFT, FODEN BEHIND KANE AND PALMER ON RIGHT

June 26, 20242 yr Knowing the British media, after lavishing ridiculous over ,-hyped praise on the lad for a decent 20 minute performance, they will be looking for stuff to hammer him with.

June 26, 20242 yr It seems to me that Bellingham was playing left midfield to link up Trippier and Foden. If Shaw is fit there is more chance of Bellingham making forward runs. Southgate has majorly effed up by taking just Shaw should have gambled on Chilwell too. Chilwell would have played as well. Academic anyway as we won the group yet fixing the left might be the different between winning in normal time and penalties.

Something about Richard Nixon not sleeping, I would guess. I'm still pondering the link with Palmer. It must be there, I'm just not seeing it yet, but give me time.

Still early days IMO, and the sophomore season is always the hardest. Presently for me he is still an impact player for England, and I haven’t seen anything in his appearances off the bench to justify a starting role. Just slightly better than Eze, Bowen offered more, & way behind Saka & Foden. He still hasn’t made a key pass or created any big chance. My expectations of him next season is very moderate considering he is on pens & deadballs, 20 (G+A) assuming he scores 7 pens. That for me will classify as a good season.

Every time Palmer has come off the bench for England, the whole approach changes. Palmer is always showing for the ball and wants to carry it forward, he's also looking for that forward pass. Foden and Saka too often shy away from responsibility. Saka has had 5 starts and only produced one semi-decent performance. Foden has been woeful in every game. If Palmer was given the same opportunities, I would have no doubt that he would be more impactful than either of those two, and that is with Southgate's tactics holding him back.

Saka was good yesterday and their main attacking threat throughout the game but Foden for me again was poor like he has been for the whole tournament. It is only Foden's rep at City which is keeping his place because I don't see how he keeps his place every game, without offering much. I think England have looked much more threatening when the subs have been made.
July 8, 20242 yr I think this is on Southgate .. to not be able to fit in TAA and Palmer into that starting 11 is criminal. if Rice is as good as they say surely a rice and Bellingham midfield with 4 attackers should work.. Poch made it work with Conor and Caicedo by having his LB invert. It’s not as if Trippier has been so great going forward - would have replaced him with a different profile like a left footed CB to invert.
July 8, 20242 yr Even Palmers cameo on the left replacing foden, I felt he did more than foden in the last game. He wanted to drive forward. I think maybe he's too quiet! You see him in perfect positions waiting for a team mate to pass but he isn't really asking for it/waving his arms/etc... Probably not to advertise he is free and unmarked, but several occasions it was open to pass forward and they don't. I think he's too nice and not a spoilt moan-y type player that demands the ball constantly or moans at another player when they make a mistake. He's too easy going...i.e. "cold" Also if he had the same amount of game time as foden, then foden would be on the bench. He has much more to offer...
July 8, 20242 yr Palmers first move is always forward, always turns and looks to move the ball and himself up the pitch. That immediately gave us more impetus going forward, which was barely there until then. To then see him, a kid with only 1 full season behind him after a massive move away from home, step up to take the first penalty shows his mental toughness is never going to be a problem.

Not sure what games you've watched these last couple of weeks but Foden has been absolute dog in every one. Saka was the same until last game where he really shone. Every time Palmer has entered the pitch he's being direct rather than just recycling the ball to defense. Really makes you wonder whether Foden is simply a Pep player and not this generational talent we've all been lead to believe, can't remember him ever turning up for England. 2 goals in his last 36 appearances for country... Looking forward to watching his career trajectory when Pep goes.
July 8, 20242 yr I can't remember which thread i posted this in...but palmer to do what he did in his first full season, new city, new club, new team, new home, let's not bring up the inexperienced team mates and the drama behind the scenes is imho way better than fodden. He just needs the rest of the england/chelsea team mates to catch up with his way of playing. I think his issue is he's not vocal enough demanding more from his team mates, demanding the ball.
