We were victims a few times when they got refs to lie that they hadn't seen stuff just so they could dish out retrospective bans, even though the footage showed them looking straight at the incident (Ramires v Sunderland and Alonso v Southampton are two examples). Mark Halsey confirmed after he retired that he was told to lie about not having seen incidents just so retrospective action could be taken.
November 7, 20241 yr The media and PGML are all in it together. The most common one I’ve heard is “if a red was given Martinez could have no complaints”. That’s about as scathing as it gets against Chelsea. Whereas the new media darlings Arsenal have all the sympathy in the world for a “soft” penalty against them and a “stonewall penalty” they should have got against Inter Milan. Back to the challenge on Palmer, I’ve even heard people say the referee probably took into account there wasn’t much time left. What nonsense! A red card challenge should be treated the same whether it’s the first challenge in the match, the last of the match, or any other time during the game. It’s clearly a Chelsea thing. November 7, 20241 yr Seeing the kids all over himself tonight, and plenty of the mascots doing his goal celebration shows just how much of an impact he's had, he really is our biggest player in every way at the moment.
November 8, 20241 yr think we need to start printing prey for Palmer shirts... Any news on the "injury"?
November 8, 20241 yr Looks like we have to wait and see... "He's getting better," said Maresca. "[Just because] he can walk and have dinner it doesn't mean he is completely fit, but we still have two days to prepare the game. "Hopefully we can have him for the session at least on Saturday and then we'll take a decision." Edited November 8, 20241 yr by Simplymo

As much as I want to beat Arsenal, and I really want us to beat Arsenal, I even more don't want us to push Palmer and him get seriously hurt. Sucks it is this game but it cannot be risked, he is just too important to our season. Let's see how Jackson, Neto, Madueke, Felix, Sancho, Nkunku et AL do, can they prove we are not just Cole Palmer FC?
November 9, 20241 yr Looking like a very big game for Nkunku if Palmer isn’t fit. Could be a few changes. Cucu has to come back in for me but it’s quite interesting trying to pick a Palmerless team. Lots more permutations for the 4 attackers. Looking forward to it apart from defending corners. 3-2 Chelsea. ( Lavia, Jackson, Nkunku ) with Bob Sanchez scoring a brace for Arsenal.
November 10, 20241 yr Was always going to be a tougher season for him with opponents doubling up on him. Don't think all the exposure and publicity is helping either. Least he has a break now and if he is carrying a knock, might be best to also rest him for the Leicester game.
November 10, 20241 yr Wouldn't worry too much. Past several games we've faced very well drilled, organized sides. Forrest, Liverpool, Newcastle, and Arsenal. 2 goal contributions isn't terrible but its evident when he's faced against these sides that double mark him he tries to do too much.
November 10, 20241 yr Cole Palmer: Marked out of the game, average performance vs Liverpool, we lose. Puts in a very good display, scores a cracker vs Newcastle, we win. Puts in a below average display vs United, we draw. Puts in a subpar display, clearly carrying a knock, vs Arsenal, we draw. Cole Palmer FC.
November 10, 20241 yr Still learning, but we all know the class. Quieter game and as @axman2526 notes above, when he is quiet we seldom win in the league. We need to reduce the dependence a fraction! Edited November 10, 20241 yr by PhilH930
November 10, 20241 yr Playing him in that left pocket isn't exactly a masterstroke by the coach. Cutting in from the right, inside right pocket is where he became a superstar and its a bit mad to go away from that in my opinion. Far easier for our opponents to take him out of the game when he's forced out left.
November 10, 20241 yr Didn’t look fit and needs to learn how to find space when you are being man marked. I think he’s good enough to figure this out eventually because if he doesn’t he will struggle.

Because of Palmers versatility until now, using him anywhere whilst fitting in other pieces of the puzzle is all well and good, but he shouldn't then be criticized for not hitting top form.
November 10, 20241 yr Just don't think Madueke and Jackson offer enough against top sides. Makes it far more difficult for Palmer.
November 10, 20241 yr Maresca said one week ago or a couple of weeks ago that Palmer and Felix will both be in the starting line-up at some point in the season. Think that time has come. Cole on the right, Neto on the left, Felix and Caicedo in the middle and Cucurella inverting next to Lavia in midfield. Colwill, Fofana and James in defence. I'd also start Nkunku for a couple of PL matches in a row. Time for Jackson and Madueke to earn their starts.
November 10, 20241 yr Was limping at times in the game and video of him I just saw limping after! I don’t think he was even properly fit to play! Would also explain a very quiet game!

November 11, 20241 yr I'm worried about him...he's limping badly apparently! Reported to have agitated his knee towards the end of the arsenal match, with only a few minutes left. As much as I want to see him in an England shirt, I really hope he stays back and gets fit again. He would be a major loss if he gets sidelined for a few weeks or more.

The fact that Maresca had a fully fit and available Nkunku who is a more than able replacement, and yet played Palmer when not fully fit and subsequenyly aggravated his injury is frankly reprehensible.
