October 22, 20232 yr Absolutely gutted we didn't get the 3 points, but as a team we were pretty solid and the better team for the majority of the match. This is an Arsenal team that are waxed lyrical over, as well as being supposed league challengers. I feel Mudryk came off to early and he was having a great game, as well as being very disciplined in our defensive shape when we didn't have the ball. Nkunku will be a vital player for our attack when he's fit, lots to look forward to with this young Chelsea squad. Edited October 22, 20232 yr by Malcolm9
October 22, 20232 yr Well, I was very disappointed in the end of the game. Honestly, we should have won this game, two goals we conceded should not happen. We put a big effort all the game, we were there tactically and we succeed to block Arsenal's buildup and their creativity in the game. We beat them very good in the counter attacks especially in the first half and we were the better team. I had the feeling that we're going to score the 3rd goal, couldn't imagine the situation we will concede two goals like this.. it hurts. I believe Pochettino was too rush with the substitutions, Mudryk was fresh and was good, he shouldn't be off at that moment. If we wanted to have more control and more aggression in the defensive part, Ugo has to be that player and I believe Caicedo wasn't good enough in the second half. Overall , there is an improvement and I was happy that we showed moments of good offensive football. Enzo - Caicedo is a real deal when they're both fully fresh it's impossible to play through them and I like it because it's only defensive, Enzo put a lot of creativity into the game also. We are on a positive road now, let's keep it going. COME ON CHELS!!

October 22, 20232 yr Plenty of positives despite the final result, last season we were never in the 2 games against them. Considering the margin between the 2 teams at the end of the last season, got to say we are improving even there are obvious faults within the team. The likes of Sterling, Mudryk, Gallagher are all improving, can't say that about any of them last season.
October 22, 20232 yr Arsenal had absolutely nothing in that game. Despite the hype surrounding them being title contenders and how good they have looked in the past against us, we were dominating for 2/3 of the game. Looking back at previous meetings between the sides this is a big improvement to how we've looked before. The standouts were Cucurella and Palmer for me. Once again Cucu has raised his game.

Yes, and we would also be surprised if Spuds were 2-0 up if they were in the same situation we are in. Give the team credit, we've made a lot of progress and with many players missing we made this Arsenal team that just beat City look average. So we f**ked up the lead, it is what it is, I'm proud of the team and I think we'll get better as the season goes on.

Plus he's 3 years younger, I'm not bothered about signing him over Rice and I don't think anyone else should be either. Plenty more areas we should be looking to improve on that area isn't one of them.

Plenty more areas we should be looking to improve on that area isn't one of them. Westham are terrible. We wanted him for years, but they didn't sell him to us. They then went ahead and sold him to Arsenal. We were ready to spend a lot of money to get him, you could see that because we spent more than that to get Caicedo. I don't like Arsenal, they have some decent players in attack and midfield, that was why they got that draw, their defence is not that good, we can defeat them, if Nkunku, James, Madueke etc are ready, we can defeat them. That's the truth. So the people that only see them, City, Liverpool etc. as the favourites to win the premier league, are probably blind. Maybe after this match, they can have a rethink.

October 22, 20232 yr Reflecting on this, Villa, Forest, Liverpool, West Ham and Bournemouth. Each of the others were disappointing, annoying for a few hours and then on with the day. This Arsenal game leaves much more resentment and a bitter taste in the mount. A real spoil to the weekend. It is a huge setback, a missed opportunity. In a way would have bee better to have been outclassed and lost 0-2. Is the hope that kills you and when I checked before work got busy we were 2 up with 20 to go. I come back and is 2-2, us closer to losing than winning. Sacked the wind out of me.

Really can't class that as a huge set back. More a case of decent progress and then a mistake costing us the 3 points. If we were challenging for the PL, I would have been gutted. I was still disappointed but that was far outweighed by how impressed I was with us outplaying Arsenal who are many peoples tip for the PL. Maybe they had an off-day or maybe we didn't let them play but Saka, Martinelli, Odegaard and Rice were all pretty much nullified and we looked the much better team. This season, I wanted to see progress and improvement and yesterday was exactly that over what had gone before against the likes of Forest & Villa. AND we still have good players to come back from injury, so if we continue to play like yesterday, no reason we can't be making that top 4-6.

Top 5 is an ask for those CL spots. 3 are gone already as no way to do City, Arsenal or Pool miss out on them. Then we have Spurs, Newcastle and others to overhaul. Biggest issue is to resolve our goalscorer problem. Yes Sanchez made a huge error, but it should have been a huge error at at least 3 up, and probably 4 up as both Palmer and Jackson have to do better with those 1 on 1s with Raya.

While it was gutting to throw away what looked like a comfortable lead against a London rival, I still take a lot of positives from the game. We continue to improve and are gradually getting some players back from injury. Cole Palmer again looked like a gem. Our new second choice fullbacks for the most part nullified Arsenal's highly rated wingers (bar the one costly moment Gusto lost his concentration), and overall I think our midfield came out on top over their much vaunted midfield.
