October 21, 20232 yr That was 2 points lost than a point earned, which I would have taken before the game, but completely disappointed after. Up to that 70 something minutes, we played the perfect game, should had 3 ( gave Palmer a pass), Arsenal had no idea how to even get into the box let alone get back into the game. Then came the biggest suicidal moment of the season so far, Sanchez does the usual clip pass with crowds in front of him, and Rice had the quality to fire the first time shot in. It's just madness and suicidal, complete game changer and manager killer. We didn't respond well after, but could understood the emotional damage on the players from the incident. Gusto didn't deal with the cross, again could give him a pass, at least he's trying. In the end, we could have lost, but credit to the lads to hold on. Lots of positives came out of it, but again Sanchez ruined it for us, and he's having moments like that every game. I really hate it when GK pretend to be a deep play maker, just do your job and leave the fancy stuffs to those who have the skills. We should be on a 3 games winning run, instead we haven't got much to show🤔

October 21, 20232 yr Low table team performance again. Top teams don't drop points at two goals lead at 15 minutes from the end Poor really poor again.
October 21, 20232 yr Shame to only draw. Generally I thought we were far too defensive once we went ahead. Basically invited them back into the game. Palmer should have been off at about the 70 minute mark. He was clearly tired. Caicedo and Enzo will be better next week. I thin you tak the point and keep building.

October 21, 20232 yr Worth remembering Raya gave us a very good chance at much closer distance when Palmer intercepted his pass. Unfortunately Cole pulled a Pedro and could not take the chance, Rices technique from much further away was very good.
October 21, 20232 yr Conflicting emotions really, most people on this forum would have taken a point against arsenal a month ago and probably before the game. Yes we were probably a bit too negative after the second goal and we’ve got to improve on it, but it’s easy to naturally take less risks given the difference in the last 12 months for each side. Take the point, hopefully keep some momentum and keep rolling.

I sense a small but significant shift in the negativity goal-posts. Jesus wept. You ask a question and the Shed End ministry of propaganda swings into action. Anyway, when we do finally beat a top six side again, I’m definitely going to ask when was the last time we beat a top six side by a bigger margin than whatever it was.

You do constantly come at every game with a negative angle though, it's tiresome. I didn't expect to get anything from this game, and we still got a point and played really well. Not winning is disappointing but it's football. It wasn't that long ago people were saying we're not improving from last season, when we're clearly seeing signs of improvement. But you have to keep finding a way to be negative about every situation.

To be honest if Spuds did the same thing i.e threw away a 2 goal lead in a game they had total control in we would say the bottled it.
October 21, 20232 yr We bottled it from the moment we went one up and went into a defensive first attitude. Sometimes really good sides can do that, play within themselves until it's time to unleash the power again. But that was not this performance. We played after the first goal as if were were a lower table side that would just try and hang on to a 1.0 lead. Lost all control of the ball and were punting it up the field to no-one. That's a shame and it is just a matter of belief. Before the goal we were determined and aggressive and it paid off. I think part of it was Enzo and Caicedo being tired. As I said before Palmer clearly tired in the second half and should have been off much earlier. Mudryck might have stayed on. Overall I think we can build on the performance but there is a lot of building to do.

Yes we would, would be pages of laughing at them on the following rivals thread. Bottom line we bottled this game.
October 22, 20232 yr Some of our players were tired because they worked very hard in the first half to get us on top. Bit harsh to say we bottled it... we definitely didn't take all our chances...they got a lucky break thanks to Sanchez, Rice took his chance and got them right back in to it... It's looking like we need a better striker than Jackson and a better goalie than Sanchez - both of those positions are crucial for results and reaching the top of the table. Good goalie can win you 12 games and a good striker the same that only leaves the other 14...

All just returned from injury and possibly not fully match fit. A new team still learning to play together in a new system. A team that had been low on confidence and in the bottom half of the table. Arsenal had every first choice player available. Perhaps only a slight question over the match fitness of Partey. A team used to the manager's system. Just beaten Pep and City. Bursting with confidence. And we were, without any doubt whatsoever, the better team. By some margin. This is a young Chelsea side. It is growing, evolving, learning. But still, with all those hurdles and injuries, we have shown against Liverpool and now Arsenal, we can compete. We can take points off them. I believe, it won't be long before we start beating them. We have been playing well all season. I was honestly surprised that people had many concern about this game. The hard for this team is how can we take the next step? Can Mudryk/jackson/Madueke improve significantly in very short time to give us additional threat offensively or we need to wait till Nkunku get back to have that.
October 22, 20232 yr Can't wait for next Saturday already. Need 3 points because this game leaves a really sour taste in the mouth.

I didnt want to sign Caicedo for that money either. Haven't seen anything that justifies that yet either. Same goes for Enzo. For 100m you should at least be able to shoot.

October 22, 20232 yr Rice is very good, but Westham didn't want to sell him to us. But, they sold him to Arsenal, that's insane. For that reason, I will never want Arsenal to win anything, seems the world has gone south, seems many people just want Arsenal to win the premier league, and the other teams shouldn't compete with them. That is not the premier league we all know before. I don't really support Arsenal to win anything. In the media, after this match, they are all saying it is Arsenal's worst performance of the season and Chelsea's best performance for some time, they are saying that to support Arsenal, so many arrogant Arsenal supporters will even say Arsenal are so good, and Chelsea are not even good They are not blind, they saw Chelsea spending £1bn buying top players, yet all they know how to do is to lie. Chelsea showed them in this match that we are better than them, I hope the whole world can see that. We are definitely better than them, we showed them in the match, Declan Rice makes them so good, even with him, we still dominated them. I'm proud of Chelsea for that. Antonio Conte about Chelsea: "Chelsea is an important club in football".
