I mean our expectations should be better than being 8 points behind this disaster United side.

So far it's been pretty poor from a results perspective. Coming into December I expected us to be in the top half at the very least.

The difference between us and United though is that they've got more experience despite being a mess. Their whole attack is in a revolt and can't score a goal at the minute, but there other players are bailing them out by a goal. We don't have that kind of experience or mentality unfortunately.

It's only Sterling in the team you can bank on to bail us out of a mess and that's kind of worrying when you think about it.

But like you've said previously, we play with the cards we've been dealt, got to pray and hope we don't carry this form into the next game.

We actually play with the cards we've picked ourselves. We've just picked sh*tty cards and can thank our decisions makers for the mess we are in.

Relegation form. See if we do get a points deduction.

When the only form of consistency is being inconsistent, questions will inevitably be asked. Particularly when no improvement is being shown.

When James, Silva, Cucurella, Sterling, etc, our most senior players are showing nativity and ignorance, you have to wonder just how much the manager is controlling things.

I would argue it was the incident right before half time where things turned. We were showing some decent signs towards the second part of the first half. JoeLinton rightly got a yellow for the foul on Reece, but then Reece stupidly lost his discpline and got a stupid yellow. That was a terrible way to end the half and we never got our discpline back after that. Second half performance was dreadful all around.

Yep, you’re 100 right, at that point I was thinking the half is over stop arguing with the ref and just get back to the dressing room.

James showed zero leadership today, such a disappointment performance.

BTW I agree with Poch, I didn’t think Newcastle were that great, they just worked harder, smarter, was more clinical and showed better discipline and maturity.

You can’t win football matches with all those elements missing.

I know that, I'm not suggesting the ownership never caused this. They've taken a huge risk and this is what we are stuck with. From Poch's perspective, there's not really a great deal he can do at the minute given that he's got a very inexperienced side full of kids.

I've got a few issues with the way Poch is setting up games but it's not exactly an easy job.

Mudryk and Madueke's work ethic is fine, it's composure on the ball where they struggle.

Stop pretending that replacing one young player for another would have made all the difference. You don't win with kids in this sport, never have and never will.

I don't know if you're being ironic at the end there, but the " you'll never win anything with kids" quote was the famous Alan Hansen quote that came back to mock him for years after he said that about the young United side that went on to win titles and cups

Yeah. The Gallagher chance from the goalkeeper mistake was a big moment too. He should’ve buried that. Story of our season really.

A managerial change right now would probably be the death of this club Sconnie.

You've said it before, we need to just see this out and hope something clicks, that's all we can do with this great reset we're going through. I feel that sacking Pochettino and getting a new manager would just set us back another 10 steps. Not saying he's immune from criticism, the defensive setup is pretty piss poor and I'm getting sick of Gallagher playing CAM every game when he offers nothing from an attacking perspective.

What is Poch doing bringing Caicedo on at 3-1 down anyways? Game is lost, just let him rest.

Maybe trying to ensure we don't get pumped 6-1. Goal difference will matter at the end of the season. But then we're sure to get relegated if we get points docked like Everton.

I'm just calling a spade a spade. A change right now would be daft but improvement is needed if we want to save ourselves from another disaster season.

For me, players and Poch are equally to blame.

So you think we should sack him and look for a new manager?

No you interpreted that wrong. Improvement is needed meaning If the goal is to progress from last season, we need to see better from both Poch and the players.

I would happily take being mocked if our lot did the same thing. That United team weren't that young in comparison to ours though. Schmeicel 32, Bruce 35, Pallister 32, May 26, Erwin 30, McClair 32, Cantona 30

A ton of experience, especially in the most important part, the defence. Our most experienced players are Silva 39, Sterling 28 and Chilwell 26 (always injured)

Don't think any other manager will do much better with this lot. We have to look at the quality of the players available. There was a time when we used to sign quality young players and experienced good players for the first team and then some inexperienced youth to spread around in the loan system. Now it's just the inexperienced lot, be it the first team or the loan army. It's just plain ridiculous. Take out Sterling's impact and we'd probably be in the relegation zone this season.

I hate saying this but we looked loads better defensively under Potter.

Yeah all true mate, I suppose the class of whatever year it was was extraordinary with all those youngsters in the side that you forget about the experience that underpinned it all.

I don't know what to think, last few weeks , I'm praising the team and thinking the youngsters are going to be even better with experience, and the youngsters out on loan will return as superstars!

That were good, experienced players we could have bought , if we really have a policy of not signing players over a certain age, that's just f**king daft.

Typical us, sky high hope , then crash, with a topping of possible points deduction sprinkled on top.

Yes, let's drop the 2 players who aren't even the common denominator to our current defensive woes.

I’d be surprised if Poch picks Badashiele and Ugochukwu in future ahead of Caicedo, Colwill or Disasi. I’m actually surprised they both started away to Newcastle given they lack match sharpness. Something was clearly going wrong at the back today. Never seen Silva and James looking so flustered, so many free kicks given away. Didn’t help that no one upfront could hold on to the ball.

Not watched the game yet and probably won’t tonight I’ll save for the morning before my Sunday preys 😂

1. talk of replacing Poch is ludicrous

2. Inconsistency is typical of a club up and coming that have bought in a load of youngsters,  it reminds me very much of Citeh and The dippers when their managers first come in

3. we need a long term replacement  for Silva, he is probably our best player still but at 39, that’s not acceptable

3. We will finish mid table, if you haven’t lowered your expectations for this season some months ago then more for you.
