Newcastle United vs Chelsea (PL) Sat 25th Nov 23 15:00 GMT

Featured Replies

Injury ridden Newcastle have battered us. Since we went down to 10 it's been no contest, but when we play against 10 it turns into an end to end game with chances either end.

Total shambles today, poch needs to start giving this group some kind of direction, a style of play they can all follow whoever is picked.

But in comparison to Mudryk he would have been better and he would be costing us less in the process.

Gordon was full of running with little end product at Everton. Mudryk was a similar player only he was playing in a foreign league. Yes Gordon would've been cheaper than Mudryk but as Scott said he would've been another inexperienced player in an inexperienced team.

4 against city another 4 here, defence is an absolute shambles

I have been telling people that for years while they were blaming the midfield.

Our backline isn't as good as people think and our past managers did whatever was in their power to hide it.

Think those results against city and spuds papered over the cracks massively, we are so poor even without the red card. Very worried for the future with the lack of European money coming in and point deductions like Everton being touted.

This isn’t even considering having no home stadium for the next few years.

We may not win another league, or at least compete for the league for goodness knows.

Not to mention we’ll probably getting at least a points deduction. Winning a cup all of a sudden seems absolutely critical if we want to be in Europe in the foreseeable future

Absolutely, many wondered what the fixation with a back 5 was and it was to cover this sh*t defence.

Sort this mess out Mr Pochettino or clear off somewhere else and take your lemons with you.  We are a clueless, hopeless, shapeless shambles.  Weakness prevails right through the team.  Poor team selection and ineffective substitutions.  Hopeless in defence and pathetically poor up front.  No grit. No fight.  No progress.  Mediocrity beckons.

I understand all that but even so Gordon did have PL experience while Mudyk had none. It would have been much easier to integrate a young Gordon like a young Palmer.

I knew this game would be a nightmare for us, I couldn't see a win at all in this one.

Didn't expect us to play so poorly though. People need to wake up to the fact that Gallagher is not good enough to start as a CAM for a full season. We would never challenge for top 4 with him consistently in the mix, he's not good enough, i've said it all season. Lesley again, he's far from ready, Cucu for all the praise he's been getting, it's just that the standards are so low, he should still be the first one out come the end of the season.

It just reaffirmed our initial belief. This team will let you down countlessly, despite what seems to be promising signs.

Even from our most experienced players we are seeing complacency, naivety, and ignorance. School boys.

He was sh*t in attack from what I could see. Had a lot of energgy and pace in him, but had little end product. Put Mudryk or Madueke in that Everton side, and they would have looked the same.

Mudryk and Madueke wouldn't have got minutes for Everton.

No defensive awareness between the pair of them and they don't offer enough or anything going forward to justify it.  Not Premier players.

Btw, really disappointed in James and Silva today. They are supposed to be leaders, but  folded quite quickly when the going got though today

One is 40 and the other is a paper captain.

I was guilty of praising Gallagher the last few games after being one of his biggest critics but this game reminded me again why he isnt the player to start for us if we want to be a top club again.

A few of us could see it Scott but were shot down in flames by the overwhelming negative opinions. Bags of ability, pace, confidence and works his arse off every game. He has a level of hunger and consistency that all our attacking players should aspire to, Palmer and Sterling included.

Him and Guimares ran the show for the Barcodes today.

Embarrassing performance

Discipline starts at the top... the manager sitting in the stands speaks volumes

Free kicks we gave away far too many, food and drink to a side that thrives on them

Woeful in defence

We need to grow up as a side quickly, stupid yellows have a cost and the more senior players need to start to show leadership and I've not even started about our attack

Didn’t understand why he played to the right of the three?

He's good in the big games as you love that type of workrate up top, but when you need the quality up there he hasn't got it. He's started every game and played CAM and he hasn't a single goal to his name yet, and most of his assists have come from set pieces. Cole Palmer would be far better there.

Yes they would. They wouldn't be under the same pressure to win a game like they would be under at Chelsea. The experience around them would take all of that pressure and they would be given time to grow. We need to throw these young players in and ask them to win us games of football because that is all we have.

All the “we’ll work hard to come back stronger” player posts incoming.

Consistency is a mortal enemy to these youngins.

Newcastle are a proper team. Remind me of us from about 20 years ago. Their supporters can be proud of that side.

We are just a shambles. We look and play like a team of mercenaries that are looking more out for themselves than anything else. Absolute shambles and our 250 million midfield getting absolutely brutalized by Newcastle's midfield with a 17 year old in it just sums up this entire project and the amount of money we've wasted.

West Ham in 9th opened up a significant gap to us today and we are 1 point ahead of Palace in 13th. Shambolic.
