I didn't mention Tuchel, let's not pretend the drop off started under Tommy T, we had a poor start to the season but it's nothing compared to the collapse we suffered after bringing in Potter and signing all these untalented young players.

Interesting that you've forgot to include our win against Everton at Goodison. We didn't start the season well but if not for arguably the worst refereeing decision in the sports history against Spurs were Mike Dean the VAR ref openly admitted to cheating after the game we'd have had 12 points from 6.

That's a far cry from the 1.3 PPG we've averaged under 4 managers since we bought all this crap deadwood.

I think we all know we would be pushing for Europe if Tuchel was the manager this season. He’s head & shoulders above everybody we had since then.

Didn't think I needed to really. Relied on a penalty from Sterling in what was an utterly dreadful game.

It's funny you mention the Spurs match as the worst referring decision as this probably cancels out to our controversial win against West Ham 2 weeks later.

This regression has been in the making since summer of 2022.

finished level on points with Dortmund last season, won title on goal difference (dortmund would have won the title had they won their last game of the season), signed one of footballs best strikers Harry Kane and has been sacked (moved on in the summer) after losing the dressing room inside of 12 months at Bayern.

Im pretty confident that if we kept Tuchel and implemented the same plan but over a longer period of time we would be in a much better position than we are now.

It's not the project that's really been a disaster it's the speed of it.

Chalobah was the only player to play for us in the 2022 final and the 2024 both against Liverpool. That's is quite something when you think about it, the sheer turnover of players in such a short amount of time good or bad has had a massive impact on how we play.

Great point, I agree. Clearlake went too fast at stripping everything out - to the point that it’s essentially a brand new club. It’s uncognisable and it’s all happened within 2 years. For life of me, I cannot understand why they went so beserk in the transfer window. There are only so many elite players available. If they spread it out over a 3-4 year period, they could have taken their time and hoovered up the best players. A more considered approach is what was needed.

It needs time to settle down..

Once our wide backs were injured under TT we were in trouble.

As much trouble as we're in now?

The team is different because of RA's forced hands-off and then leaving and so did a lot of experience players so we cant compare.

Interesting that he is now falling out with players at Bayern Munich, we won't get the truth until after he leaves and then only if someone breaks cover.

Yeh its easy for me to say in hindsight but the new ownership didn't have to make such a drastic change in a short period of time. With or without Tuchel I fully believe we would have been in a better position than we are now if we didn't turnover the squad so fast.

The ownership played football manager but this time you can't reload the save and go back to where you left off.

Have to admit I'd be fine with De Zerbi taking over if the rumors are true, even if he hasn't won anything.

Brighton always play attacking football under him (even against the top sides), he's using to working with prospects, and he has a fixed tactical system.

Even after losing Caicedo, Trossard, Colwill and MacAllister they're still 7th, and managed to win their Europa League group.

I’m not prepared to accept anyone else from Brighton. They make frauds out of everyone.

Quite so  ... this is what immediately came to mind from the prospect of dealing with them again LOL

Very true with  yet RA did this too with Sheva and Torres but FFP had no teeth and RA would bail us out via a loan.

To be fair Trossard and MacAllister have looked good since leaving, might be a Chelsea problem rather than a Brighton one

I seriously can’t get my head around people who scoff at Tuchel nowadays, I mean he won us the champions league when no one saw it coming.

Werner, Havertz and Mount as our front three for christs sake.

I find it abit disrespectful especially after how he steered us through all the controversy with the war in Ukraine and sanctions, and the takeover. I thought he handled it all impeccably and he seemed to be at home here. He even wrote tweets after leaving which was really out of character, I don’t recall him being on social media previously so it shows how much it meant to him. He didn’t do it for any previous clubs and I doubt he will for Bayern.

He was our chance of a long term manager and we blew it.

Move on. He isn't coming back. If he did Im not sure he could work with the players nor the management.

He won us the big cup as did bobby D, no one saw that coming either but probably the entire forum would agree getting rid of Di Mateo was the right thing to do... the way people still pine for tuchel around here, despite the club finishing up 19 points off City in back to back seasons. The two will be forever in Chelsea folk law so well done to them both. Wouldn't change it for all the world as both nights were great memories. Thanks for those... I then moved on.

He, like Conte, Jose, and many other managers just aren't long term managers... 2/3 seasons tops (bar Mainz 05 where he lasted 5 years) and everywhere he goes he has had fallings out with either the board or players and something happened between him and the board at Chelsea.

It's a well trodden path of new ownership sacking managers after buying clubs. I for one cant be critical of the way our new ownership is trying to set up the club, theyre making mistakes, but if they want to throw billions at a club, they get to say who runs it regardless of us fans. It was the same when Roman came in the first time, sacked Ranieri and got in Jose and a lot of Roman's early signings weren't always great... sound familiar? But at the time our new money could buy whatever it wanted as we were being run by a benefactor and we were ahead of other clubs getting state sanctioned owners. The game has changed, to compete you have to make changes as the club is doing. It will either work or fall apart and another conglomerate or nation will buy the club. Then the changes will start again. that's modern day football.

Wish Tuchel all the best in his employment as a manager, but given his problems dealing with either players or management, I dont think he's an elite coach, certainly very lucky, like bobby D, and very good at spotting opportunities and taking them.

Living in the past in football is for nostalgia only. Tonights game is all that matters, then the next one. Dont like it, dont watch, think you can do better than the clubs owners, buy the club and run it your way (or bring fans together to buy it and we can be a fan run club). Memories are great, the good and the bad like Terrys missed penalty or being hammered by united in the 90's in cup finals or the numerous league and cup success we've had. The ups and downs of following a club are what make the memories.

I have my career planned out:

2024 - Complete UEFA C and take on another 1-2 PT sessions per week at current club
2025 - Complete UEFA B
2026 - Investigate FT positions at current club and hopefully take one on (assuming I can afford to take the paycut to change career)
2027 - See if club will pay for me to do UEFA A. If not, save up for it and do it a year later.
2028/2029 - Complete UEFA A.
2029 - Take on youth coaching job at Chelsea and move to London
2031 - Progress up through the academy to U18/U21
2033 - Graham Potter gets sacked again. Step into caretaker role for 1-2 games.
2034 - New manager comes in (John Terry) and takes me on as assistant
2036 - Terry is sacked and I take over
2037 - Win everything

We do win the PL one time in that 13 years, when Mourinho comes back for part 3 and sells all the young players.

Well that will help to get us through.

Though how many stand up shows will @Munkunkube starring in, in those 13 years? Will certainly need something to keep our spirits up, that would do it.
