From the Telegraph

Mauricio Pochettino has urged referee Chris Kavanagh and his officials not to get carried away with the emotion of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp’s long goodbye and to be “fair” with his Chelsea team.

Chelsea face Liverpool in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final, which could represent Klopp’s last Wembley appearance as manager before he leaves the club at the end of the season.

Pochettino’s Chelsea were Liverpool’s first Premier League opponents at Anfield after Klopp announced his departure. The Blues were thrashed 4-1, but Pochettino is still annoyed by the officiating after his team were denied two penalties.

Asked if there is extra pressure on Klopp and Liverpool to deliver a trophy before he leaves, Chelsea head coach Pochettino replied: “Good question. It is not pressure for him. No. Maybe it is for the people who want to celebrate with Liverpool.

“I think we need to be sure we are going to compete and be fair in every single decision. When we played against Liverpool at Anfield, I think too many decisions … not one key decision was for us. Two penalties were not given. Duels, 50-50s, always for another colour. Always red. I want to be treated in a fair way.

“Of course, we are going to celebrate. I am the first who is going to say that Liverpool is amazing and Klopp is one of the best coaches in the world. But I think after my last experience playing there, what I want in Wembley is to go there and not feel the pressure. It is to play a game at the same level and the best team will win. But not to feel the pressure of people around.”

Pochettino added: “They were better than us [at Anfield], of course. But the first decision after five minutes was a clear penalty. In the second half it was a penalty, [Christopher] Nkunku. We are Chelsea and we need to compete with the same tools. If they are better well done and we congratulate them, but be fair in every single decision. The pressure is about not delivering the job for Klopp, no, the pressure is not to be part of the … you know?”

At that point the Chelsea media officer interjected with the word “hype.”

Pochettino also denied that spoiling Liverpool’s party for Klopp will act as any extra motivation and added: “No, no, We want to win because of Chelsea. But of course Liverpool want to win. But please, not another party involved in the game will be part of the celebration that Klopp is leaving, no? That is important.”

Love this!

About time someone called out all the favoritism to Liverpool.

Even if if puts a seed of doubt in officials minds during the match then it's worth it.

I'm still convinced Lukaku was onside in that League Cup final but the officials didn't want to give a late goal against Liverpool.

So apparently his comments may warrant an FA Charge not allowed to be seen to curry any favor or influence in anyway match officials before a contest . But we all remember the Champions League in 2 critical matches where the refs have come out a decade later and say they ‘fixed’ the result by not giving Chelsea nailed on pens. I know VAR is in play but we’ve seen the wrong outcomes on that platform time and time again or maybe not all of the so called wrong decisions were human error?

If you could fight with a lion and kill it, should it be difficult for you to fight with a cockroach and kill it? You are insane, you are even talking.

You are making fun of my comment, if you have evil, keep it to yourself, don't bring it near me.

The team is doing badly because so many of you fans are evil. I thought fans of a club will support the club, but I've seen that these fans don't like this team.

I joined the fans' forum because you would think the other fans of the team will like the team, but clearly these fans hate this team.

I feel so sorry for this team because of the kind of fans they have. They can't do well because of the kind of fans they have. Some people don't have any form of positivity in them, it's all negativity.

It's already affecting the team. There is no oneness in the team. Look at City, Liverpool etc. Their teams are happy. But there is anger inside the Chelsea team. The fans attack all their players.

They attack Cucurella, they are even so mean to attack a player like Reece James, you would think they like him when they made him their captain, they attack Chilwell, they attack their goalkeeper, they attack their defense, they attack the midfielders, they attack the wingers.

That means they don't want the team to exist again. If there are no players, there is no team. So why are you still calling yourselves fans of the club? You can as well go to your homes, there is nothing like Chelsea again.

What the actual fcuk is this sh!t ?

Proper scandal. I can’t believe that more wasn’t made of that. Lines all looked onside but somehow called offside. Scandal.

West Edmonton mall was the biggest mall in the world before the Arabs decided to one up things.

Hockey is on going, you guys could take in an oilers game. Though they went from a 16 game winning streak to sucking a$$ since the 10 day break for the stupid all stars game.

If you like nature the devonian botanical gardens and the mutard conservatory are both lovely.

Those would be my tips to look in to. Fair warning though Edmonton is...an experience...to drive in, was the worst place to drive in the whole country. Which is why I don't lol.

I feel like this is a massive game for Poch and the club. Winning it:

1. Tells the board we’re on the right track

2. Gives the new owners credit / validation

3. Helps the fans believe in Poch and the new owners

4. Develops a winning mentality amongst a young group

I was thinking along the same lines.

It's a significant moment in the club's history and which direction we might go in.

Want some revenge after Liverpool pipped us on penalties in the last two cup finals in 2022.

Chilwell pretty much reinforcing the above post.

Quote

The 27-year-old won the Champions League in 2021 under Thomas Tuchel, yet he was bullish in explaining why the Carabao Cup would be a bigger accomplishment for the club in its current state.

‘Not in prestige but in the way we want the club to go,’ Chilwell said this week. ‘The prestige of the Champions League is higher but this is arguably more important in terms of where the club is now.

‘With the group we have now — a young group, where there have been ups and downs this season — to get this one as a team and staff and with the fans, it would be massive. Arguably bigger than the Champions League.

‘When I joined Chelsea I came in as one of the younger players and in the last few years it’s completely flipped. I’ve taken on the role as one of the more experienced players. It’s important for me to try to emphasise to all the new players why silverware is so important.’

Im nervous for today because you just don’t know what team is going to turn up. Some of our performances have been erratic against the big teams:

Newcastle, Man United, Liverpool away, Villa home - not good performances

We’ve done well against Spurs and City though so who knows.

- We are under dogs with the bookies by some distance

- We are miles behind them in the table on points, goals scored, and goals conceded

- We were recently thrashed by them.

So our cunning plan to make them over confident has every chance of succeeding.
