So anyone have an idea how we are going to line up under him?

Who are the winners and losers with this appointment.

Players who can retain the ball well. How we line up its very much how he assess the squad but judging from how he utilized certain Leicester players.

James inverted fullback partnering Caicedo.

Colwill LCB.

Enzo #8

Petrovic

James Chalobah Badiashile Colwill

Enzo Caicedo

Palmer Nkunku Sterling

Jackson

So you don't think they will sell Trev then?

Now it's done I'll back him. Have nothing against Maresca, just want to see some entertaining football. I love to win, of course, we all do, but i want to watch entertaining, attacking football.  Regardless of the manager i cannot abide this sterile tippy toe tap to each other for no reason. Praying we have creativity, intensity, tempo and threat,

I hope so but everything I hear about him screams potter 2.0 boring possession football

Maybe he will like having Sanchez? They both, along with Big Willy Cab, share the same barber 👍

In all seriousness, this could be the first statement signing to grab the fanbase's attention and give Maresca what he needs. In reality none of our goalkeepers provide him with what he requires, so he may actually need two, a headline keeper and an understudy.

If this lot were to go and get Maignan out of Milan, whilst there is upheaval there, and sort out the Lukaku - Osimhen deal then that could really unite the fanbase and put a whole different perspective on things. Arguably we still need a commanding CB, especially with major doubts over Fofana, but this would be a real power play by the board. Maresca would then have elite at either end of the pitch, with him working out the patterns in moving the ball through the ranks.

Will they do it. Not on your nelly.

If James can stayy fit, him inverting into midfield would be far better than Cucurella I think. It might also mean he sprints down the wing less and injuries himself less.

Or he could end up being our most reliable right sided CB if we don't recruit there.

What Maresca should have here that he didn't have at Leicester is at least some pace in his back line. His CB pairing last season were solid enough but barges move quicker.

I was interested in one thing that i read about Maresca, can't remember where in all the feeds coming out, and i am not sure if it a just a media puff comment and that is that the board were impressed by his encyclopedic knowledge of all of the Chelsea players, including some of the younger players and loanees. I am not sure how we would have the time to conduct such in depth analysis but if true, at least it demonstrates a level of attention to detail that is paramount in getting the best out of the tools available to us.

Wouldn't buy into anything just yet. He also said he has the 'perfect plan' in how to utilize Enzo Fernandez.  All this just reminds me of last summer reports that Poch had big plans for Mudryk and Colwill, yet the former started every other game never improving and Colwill played half his matches as a hugging the touchline LB.

The optimist in me however is saying our squad is far, far more suited to Maresca's football than Poch's.

Maignan plus our medical team is another Wes Fofana waiting to happen.

Well it looks like he's the guy then. Not exactly the one I would have chosen, but we need to support him and see what he can do.

Trying to find positives, it seems he likes his players to be highly drilled and know exactly what they should be doing on the pitch, so we should be better defensively, than the crazy chaotic stuff we played this season. Though I suspect we'll not score as many. I think we have to be realistic and aim for top 6 again.

Goalie search starts today I reckon. Its a pivotal cog and the weakest point that we have in his formation.

I don't think we need a goalie..we need to not have two completely unmarked attackers roaming around in our penalty box every time the opposition attacks..and tiny Cucurella on the back post making zero difference

Hi, Visiting Leicester Fan here.

I've been interested to see the views you guys have on Maresca becoming your new Manager on another thread.    Very much mixed views at our end .... even we weren't sure how he'd fare in the Prem!    Yes, he got the team back together again after the shambles of relegation and yes we were flying in the first half of the season in the Championship but many of us found ourselves bored to the back teeth with the style of play and screaming at the players to get forward.  We thought Rogers was the King of Tippy Tappy but then Enzo stepped in to take his crown!  Yes he got us promoted ... just, after a disastrous run of form in the latter stages ... so we are grateful but we took a risk on the guy ourselves and would have expected a little more loyalty .... a rare commodity in football I know.

I think it says it all that, rather than alarm and complete panic at losing a manager that got us promotion, the overriding emotion is just mild disappointment smattered with a bit of irritation.

I personally liked Maresca in the most part and would have liked to see how he got on in the Prem with us.   However, his stubborn insistence on playing one way, with no obvious Plan B in matches where it obviously wasn't working (particularly in the later part of the season when more astute managers had sussed us out) , together with his seeming inability to make the right substitutions  were testing even the most ardent believers of EnzoBall.

Good luck folks, you've made some good 'smash & grabs' from us in the past ...... N'Golo being the pinnacle and a fantastic player who'll always be loved in Leicester ..... but somehow I think this one might not have the same effect.

Prepare to be bored out of your brains!!

Probably had his coaching team do some analysis when Leicester played us in the FA Cup ?

Well I mea  look at the other thread poll. Many votes for other shows we wanted you!

Now you know what to do, get yourself over to City and take your remaining coaching there, buddy up to Pep and our dream can become reality!
