Chelsea v Real Madrid, (pre-season), Wed 7th Aug 24, 0030 GMT

General take away from this (and the America tour on the whole)

- No injuries on those crap pitches

- I think we look good building with the ball up until the final third, players look like they’re really starting to get it

- We look really bad in defensive transitions and defending on the whole. Lack of recovery runs isn’t helping them though.

- Results haven’t done us any favours but we shouldn’t get too hung up on them. Take a breath, enjoy what’s left of the British (or wherever you are) summer and get ready for the real stuff to start. I’m not saying it’s going to be any better, but it’s silly to lose sleep and get wound up over glorified training sessions

No threat from that left wing at all in our squad Sterling and Mudryk are w**k, Also what happened to Carney? Played the first game then disappeared.

It’s not just carney but not a single Academy player was seen on tour.. pre season was when we got excited about cobham and upcoming talent .. with a squad so big we have struggled to spread minutes..

I hope and I really do hope this grand experiment of these sporting directors work because that’s what it is an expensive experiment.

Sheesh. Glad they took pity and lifted their foot off the gas second-half. We couldn’t really have played much worse. We tried hard but there’s no disguising how poor we were. Defence was a shambles and our attack was laughable. Barring some last minute surprises in the transfer window, we’re going into the new season woefully lacking in quality and experience, and with an untested manager who already has a look of panic in his eyes.

The system doesnt get the best out of the best players we have available...

Nkunku as a no9 does not work

James being part of the 3 kills his creative prowess and crossing ability

Madueke, mudryk, sterling, guiu poor decision making

Too many missed passes and players didnt know when to press

Enzos too slow to play as a 8 I hope he proves me wrong though

Caicedo loves back passing and jorgensen looks like kepa 2.0

Its only preseason.....

Defence...wtf is going on with the cb's!? I agree not one of them has made a cb spot his own so far. A special mention to Badiashile the muppet. Slowing down before he gets to the line to save that second goal. I remebered Ashley Cole and how many times he cleared the ball off the line and saved goals! I can only imagine he didn't want to get hurt on the sh*t pitch so didn't bother. But he does that in the PL and he should be gone! What's happened to reece??? He was not on the ball at all that game. He's better than that! He was slow and just seemed indifferent!

Midfield...Enzo did some great passes. Long and short, direct and on target so why the fk is he still so far forward? Why can't he sit back and be a half sh*t fabregas and only go forward with the flow or for the smart defence splitting  passes. He needs to get back quicker and dictate play. It seems its Enzo and caicedo/lavia the preferred option by maresca, and if that's the case then Enzo jnr better sharpen up and get the above under lockdown quicker. Nkunku needs to stay a number 8 and help down the middle.

Attack...guiu is raw but has potential. Sterling kept running into himself or somehow losing the ball as soon as someone or even the evening breeze got close to him. And noni is nothing more than a super sub. Has it gone to his head that he's someone special or something? His attitude sucks off the ball. And he still hasn't learnt when to be selfish or selfless.

Jackson is our main striker with palmer on the right. I would even try Jackson on the left with guiu and Palmer. Again...neither sterling or mudryk made a case for either to be more than a sub. Really wasteful. My worry is when the press asked maresca where he sees Jackson he said as a striker. I really hope he tries him on the left and realises that he may be a better option than sterling and mudryk there. Mudryk has got the speed but he may need specialised and dedicated help to work on his shortfalls. I can't see it happening as part of the first squad.

Real were toying with us at times...

1at preseason game I've stayed up for, really wasn't worth it.

Massive issue at centre back, I'm hoping players are just tired, because Colwill and Badiashille were both pretty bad, on the ball loads of loose passes, neither defended with any intensity, Colwill walking back for 1st goal, Badiashille not bothering to match the run for the 2nd. Tosin looed similar in the last game, Fofana looks like a player that has barely played for 3 years, and we know what we are getting with Disasi. James pretty much at right centre back struggled too, looks short if fitness, and that position really doesn't get the best out of him.

Gusto did pretty well.

Midfield was okay, Lavia could do more to shield the defence, and I also think he needed to take more responsibility playing out from the back, but been out for a whole season. Enzo and Nkunku were both decent, had their moments and produced the only real moments of quality.

Attack was terrible, Sterling made their full back look like Maldini, and when he did get in, he played an awful ball across which shouldve been a tap in. Sick of moaning about Sterling, never wanted him, wish we could sell. Madueke started brightly, but then struggled controlling the ball, and had a pretty poor game despite scoring. Mudryk looked the sharpest but he has no football brain, so wasted both decent openings he had.

Guiu struggled, bit brighter 2nd half, but had no service really.

Overall I'm worried about the buisness we have done, none of the signings improve the team, bar maybe Jorgensen. It will be another £200m spent, and we still need a dominant centre back, a left winger, and a striker at least.

I see the clown on the touchline is blaming Poch for the defensive high line! Absolute crap, unless he changes it and plays 5 at the back and stops this inverting rubbish, clubs are going to to run riot, James never got into the other half once last night, he is wasted, this could go wrong very quickly and get smashed in most games and the idiot in. charge will be gone by Christmas

It's almost as if we've randomly bought a load of expensive inexperienced youngsters based on how good they look on some kind of f**kwitted graph.

Oh don't be silly, surely no knowledgeable owner would do such a thing!

I went to bed at half-time, not because of the football or the scoreline, that was just always my plan.

I felt for the first 10 minutes or so we looked alright, but then as the first half wore on they seemed to get a grasp on what we were trying to do and adapted to it pretty easily, which could be a worrying little microcosm of how I fear the season will unfold.

The regularity with which both City and Real got dangerous players 1v1 with our defenders is a massive red flag to me. I know it's pre-season, but surely coming up against a player like Vini Jr would be a great time to practice how to double team a winger?

That seemed to be the implication. Bizarre. Poch didn't play a particularly high line. What he had was Thiago's experience and organisational expertise. And even then things too often ended in tears. Take out Thiago and ... *shudders*

i think you capture the emotions of many a CFC fan. Maresca has ripped up whatever we had built last season into a sh*t show currently.

That’s what you get when you buy somebody who is very fast but doesn’t even have the skill set of a professional footballer.
