Pedro Neto *Official*

Jackson will get the most criticism today, but I don't think it should be ignored how sh*t Neto has been. It's like watching Werner at times. Runs around a lot, but has zero end product. It was my main concern when we signed him and I was told it's not a big deal. Well it was today and has been for a while now. How many times did Palmer find him in that first half just for him to f**k up every chance? The worst one was the easiest pick out for Palmer that would have had a tap in, but he overhit it. What was it that he did at Wolves that convinced everybody that he was this brilliant winger? because I have never seen it and he doesn't even have the stats to back him up.

I'm pissed at the type of players these owners have signed. They seem to be buying players without factoring the most important part of football, scoring goals! It's just a waste of money.

Neto may need a proper striker, like a Jota or Jimenez, to look good. With Jackson he is looking no better than Mudryk.

I don't think so. He's just really predictable. He's another of those players that has tricked people into thinking he is great because he runs around a lot.

I still don't think he is a RW either. He's better on the left.

As the youth say these days, this is pure cope.

He simply isn’t that good to be a starter, we’ve spent 50mil on a squad player which is insane.

We spent 105mill on Enzo, 62mill on Mudryk, 38mill on Disasi etc. Is what we do.

Also starting to have real concerns about Neto and whether he fits into the way we play. His pace is undoubtedly his standout attribute - it’s what makes him such a threat in the right system. But let’s be honest: the way we’re set up doesn’t really play to that strength.

Against deep defenses, where there’s no space to exploit behind the backline, Neto’s biggest weapon is effectively neutralised. He doesn’t have the craft or vision to pick apart a defense the way someone like Palmer or Sancho can. Instead, he ends up looking isolated, ineffective, or even wasteful in those situations.

It’s not just his fault - he’s being asked to play in a way that doesn’t suit him. But if we’re not going to adjust the system to give him opportunities to use his pace, then I fear we’re wasting him.

Maybe he’d thrive in games where we can play on the break, but in matches where we’re expected to dominate possession, it can feel like he is the wrong piece for the puzzle

Should be sharing minutes with Sancho on the left.

Madueke is much better on the right. Also doesn't hit the deck holding his face multiple times a game, especially when the opponents are on the attack.

Yep, and because Madueke isn't consistent himself, he could have shared that position with Palmer. We could have kept Nkunku happy by playing him behind Jackson when we needed to move Palmer out to the right. It's crazy that Maresca hasn't tried this once this season.

Yeah that last sentence is what pisses me off. Its fine if he doesn't think its going to work but to not even give it 45 minutes is a disgrace.

Sancho/Neto. Nkunku/Felix. Palmer/Madueke.

All different profiles too rather than having Madueke on the right to sub off for Neto who is such a similar profile.

After half a season this guy looks a tidy enough player but has absolutely f**k all end product and shouldn't be starting.

Is also weak as pi$$ and rolls around on the floor over any touch. Jury is definitely out with this one.

I like him and really happy he’s a Chelsea player. I think he’s quality.

Its difficult for him to get end product when he has to play against low block teams, and Nico Jackson as the striker.

Imagine if we had someone like Giroud, it would bring the best out of him.

It’s a shame our defence isn’t good enough to sustain pressure because we’d be so good at counter attacking. That Neto assist to Jackson vs Newcastle, that was a wonderful goal.

Should have gone for Solanke, Someone like Chris Wood could do a job from off the bench

I like him too and don’t think he deserves a lot of the criticism he gets.

Yes, he doesn’t score enough, I agree with that, but he works hard for the team and is a tidy productive player.

We should try him on the left sometimes as he plays there for Portugal.

I honestly think a lot of our problems is the chances we squander, go 2 goals ahead and teams will either have to open up immediately or risk defeat without a fight, this will help players like Neto.

Our problem is we are normally still only 1 goal ahead around the 80th minute so teams have a low block until this time and hope to get rewarded for a good 10 minutes against us and it works out for them a lot of the time.

Be clinical, go 2 goals ahead before the 80th minute and the opposition have to change tactics.

15 shots against Palace but only 1 on target - that’s our problem.

Get that 2nd goal and it’s a totally different game.

Jackson is more to blame for this than Neto or Sancho IMO.

Im not feeling this.

As a club, we've had a nightmare time since the last days of Tuchel to score goals, we only did under him when we had a fully fit Chilwell and James.

When Poch turned up - he had to teach the team to score goals. By the time he left, we were a high scoring side but conceeding tons. We were a high scoring side for the first half of the season, now we cant score.

Outside of Palmer and Jackson who between them have 22 goals. (stop these two and you stop Chelsea) We have a midfield that doesn't score goals. Caicedo (1), Fernandez (3), Felix (1), Neto (1), Nukunku (2), Sancho (2), Noni (5), have 15 goals between them, this is bad.

Our defenders dont shoot and dont win headers at corners. We hardly score from set pieces unless Disasi is in the team.

sure, Jackson's head will fall off his shoulders if he heads the ball, and he's guilty of missing sitters, but he isn't the issue for the lack of goals when the problem is much wider and appears to be coming back into the squad after nearly 18 months of free-scoring.

Plamer and Jackson have outscored 7 players.

Felix started 2 games played a total 274 mins (given 4 mins twice, 7 mins once,  most as a sub 32 mins)

Nkunku started 3 games played a total 391 mins ( given 2 mins once, 4 mins once, 7 mins once, 8 mins once, 9 mins three times, most as a sub 26 mins)

TO SAY THESE TWO SHOULD BE BANGING THEM IN COMPARED TO …

Jackson started 17 games total 1430 mins ( played every game apart from Southampton, in the top 9 goalscores he has the worst goals per minute, the worst goals conversion and the least goals per 90 minutes, behind players like Mbeumo, Wood, wissa and cunha all playing for clubs we will finish above)

9th highest scorer in the league having worse stats than those above him isn't really breaking news.

I think my point was that the midfield hasn't contributed that many goals. Like you, I don't understand why some players don't play and others do. The dip in form shows that everyone is not performing. fingers crossed we improve soon.

Al Nassr preparing a 90mill offer to Brighton for Mitoma!

Come on Todd, get on the blower with your mates there and get them to spend 70mill on Neto, or Felix, instead!

What was the name of that Wolves Portuguese midfielder that went there a year or so ago? Was he a Mendes client too?

Make it happen, maybe get both gone.
