How bad must Guiu be in training if he can't get game time over this guy

He's pretty bad.

Other than his involvement against Burnley I think (assist) we look like we play with 10 men with him on the pitch. Probably the one player out of most in at this football club that desperately needed a loan to develop.

Delap - i think if you read the earlier parts of this thread many were very keen on signing Delap. He wasn't really 'scouted' as he was a known quantity. He was at Derby under Lampard and then he moved on to citeh. Spent time at citeh with all the potential wunder kids. Citeh sold him to Ipswich for 20 million quid and we bought him from Ipswich for a little bit more - 30 million quid. So far, nothing to outrageous considering what we paid for Garnacho and Gittens. 3 players brought in for 130 million quid. Ouch. How people still think our Sporting directors are only interested in 'making money' on transfers buying/selling players is beyond reason.

Delap offered something different - a big strong striker - but he never really was a great goal scorer. We could recoup a fee for him. He is a solid player - although ultimately not very interesting or special. I could see plenty of clubs interested in him, from Everton and Leeds to a return to Ipswich if they get back in the prem. He is like a Dewsberry-Hall type of purchase, he is a bit 'meh', but he is nowhere near the horror show purchases of G and G.

Could Delap still offer something for the squad? Maybe. But with Nico returning. . . lol.

For me he is inferior to Broja (when and if Borja is fit).

I don't rate Broja!

Delap + Jackson + 70M for Rayan. Had enough of him, if we're going to sign a 19yr old backup eventually anyway, I'd rather we sign Rayan

I wasn't massively keen, but thought he'd offer us something a bit different, a bit of the Costa-like aggression that we were missing. Unfortunately it turns out that's all he offers.

I don't think that he even offers that though really. His physical contribution reminds me more of watching Big Daddy in the wrestling ring than Diego Costa on a football pitch.

Will be interesting to see if he starts ahead of Guiu tomorrow. If he doesnt i think the writing is on the wall.

If i was him id start practising throw ins.

I remember when Jim was adamant that ANYONE would be better than Jacko !

I think we've got someone who clearly isn't.

Bring Jacko Back , even if it's just to read Jim's volcanic reactions after every hopeless Jacko performance !

Unless Bayern have a change of heart he will be back in the summer.

It’s like when we spent 10 million on Sutton. Looked good at Norwich and Blackburn but looked like we bought his twin brother!

I was delighted when we bought him . f**king hell, I'm pretty sure he had 2 chances with only the keeper to beat in his first game and f**ked both up . It might be my dodgy memory but I have a video in my head of him falling over during one of those chances!?!??

Man, that first half was absolutely painful, but to his credit he didn't let his head drop and ended up with 3 assists. But if he's ever going to justify his position at a club like Chelsea he needs to score some goals.

I think many were probably hoping he would be spared further misery with a half time sub. But to be fair Rosenior persisted and Delap showed great persistence to improve his game second half with the assists.

Works his bollox off but man he's hard work to watch, 1st touch is woeful... can't hold the ball up & at present his only game is chasing down the channels...done decent 2nd half but they are poor side...Pedro is a slighter build but can turn a defender & hold the ball.....he couldn't turn with the ball & no defender.......

Hull wouldn't last in Prem, dunno how they are so high up in championship...

Trod on the ball when clean through iirc

The assist for Estevao is accidental. Tried to toe poke it into the goal, bounced off the keeper to Estevao.

Seriously? It's pretty obvious to me that he passed it to Estevao, it didn't touch the keeper, and it was clearly intentional.

The above angle is pretty inconclusive but check the BBC website for full replays. You can see him swipe his right along the ball in the direction of Estevao. His last touch doesn't go towards the goal...

It was a good assist which came from him beating a man, taking the keeper out of play and putting it on a plate for Estevao. Just a bit weird to focus on this, rather than his brain fart earlier where he didn't play to the whistle and put the ball in an open net like he's paid to.

Really hope he comes good. Had a complete mare for the first 30 minutes or so against Hull but fair play to him, he battled on and did well after that.

Saw so many social media posts writing him off and folk wanting Jackson back. No Way - his attitude alone makes him a much better player to have around than Jackson.

I think his attitude makes him preferable to Jacko. If we're going to have a dud striker, it might as well be Delap instead of Jacko

What? He's picking up reds and yellows at a far higher rate than Jackson ever did?

Strikers will pick up cards. It's annoying when the cards become red but unless I'm mistaken, Delap has the one red card for us when Jackson has two.

But it's not just about cards, it's the whole demeanour. At least Delap plays with a smile on his face - so much more preferable to old sulky bo**ocks.
