Matt Law is reporting Fofana is Maresca’s #1, and that Huijsen would partner him at LCB. There’s also murmurs of Bayern wanting Colwill and we slapped £70m price tag. First time ever I don’t care what we do. Lost all optimism and hope under this ownership.
April 23Apr 23 If he rejects Liverpool for us, then watch the usual lot in the media highlight him for criticism the same way they did for Caicedo. They've only recently stopped the digs at Caicedo and they still find something to moan about when he gives away a foul.

Pure Profit. I thought he was a shoe in for Van Dijk's position if he moved on. If Huijsen comes here when Real are sniffing, its not a massive leap for Colwill to get a move to Real and for us to bag pure profit wonga. However, i am sure these clowns will fck it all up by trying to use Kepa as part of the deal with inflated transfers each way, which no doubt will then fall out of bed.

D D Fofana and Washington watching us linked with every striker in Europe. Ugochukwu on loan at Southampton while we sign both Amougou and Essugo. The 500 goalkeepers. We have serious hoarding issues

April 24Apr 24 Massive upgrade on Colwill, fits the mould of the current SD’s signings. PL proven. I’m all for it.
April 24Apr 24 Thought about this some more and actually changed my mind, I don't want us to sign him. Get a experienced defender and simply use Achempong instead. Edited April 24Apr 24 by Remodez
April 24Apr 24 If he turns out to be generational and comes and marshals the defence to a near elite level at 19, then great, obviously it would be a great signing. If he comes in and looks like another raw teenage player that will need at least a year or 2, then it fixes absolutely nothing.Had a feeling we would be in for him a few a months ago. Just exactly the profile this club go for. Teenager with a buy out clause and a high ceiling. After Anselmino, Sarr, and Achaempong, that will be the 4th 19 year old right footed centre we have tied to a long term contract.
April 24Apr 24 I'm not sold on Colwill. I wouldn't want him sold, but maybe he needs someone to challenge him as he has become too comfortable. Hopefully Fofana can stay fit and come back from injury successfully. He was supposed to be our main man at CB, but injuries have cursed him. He has probably missed out on a good 18 months of football due to injuries.
April 24Apr 24 No, it would be really nice to keep Colwill in case things get better and we start winning trophies. Who better than academy graduate to lift the trophies?
April 25Apr 25 All in on this signing. Transfers are about the most exciting thing this club does now, and gives the hope we need. Expect Trev to be sold, and Disasi, Badiashile, Tosin aren’t really good enough. Doubts over Colwill also, and Fofana can’t stay fit. Time to retool the CBs

Spain don’t do bad CBs, and I can’t remember the last average Spanish CB to play in the PL. He already has 2 Spanish caps which is nothing to be sniffed at when you consider their depth of CBs.He isn’t your average CB talent and was getting regular games on loan at 18yrs old at Roma

It's not like a Cubarsi that's a freak and perfect. If it was that level of talent I wouldn't say anything. In another world that Acheampong moves to Madrid instead of signing a new deal, he would be starting for them now at 18 and we would be lamenting the fact that we let him go.

It's Colwill he's in direct competition with and not only is he better than Colwill, but Colwill has pure profit saleability
April 25Apr 25 We need competition for Colwill and Huijsen looks more than capable. There needs to be a much smaller drop off from our first and second choice CB’s. It would allow us to take a player out for a couple of games for form.Colwill has generally played in most of the big games because we don’t have real competition for his place. There’s no reason why they couldn’t play together either. Loads of great CB pairings have one of them playing on the wrong side as it were.
April 26Apr 26 The question needs to be asked, why didn’t our vast, sophisticated scouting network identify him prior to Bournemouth?

What I find puzzling is we tried getting ahead of the market in Jan by trying to activate his release clause, but Bournemouth said that was only active in June 2025. Why didn’t we either allow Bournemouth to sign Kepa at a discounted fee in Jan, or pay an extra couple of £millions to get it done then. We then doubled down on the craziness by signing Mamadou Sarr from Strasbourg in Jan who we intend to loan back to Strasbourg next season.
April 27Apr 27 He's just turned 20 this month... I was afraid we'd go this route of prioritising signing young players for yet another transfer window w/o adding any balance to the squad... The board probably think of an NBA kind of rebuild where they expect the whole squad to peak at the same time, 5-6 years after being assembled. The thing is that you can easily do that in a country where fans are not that passionate and view sports more as a recreational activity, rather than a big and important part of life, as many do in Europe.

If you sign a 26 year old, in 5 years, his value will be very low.
