How does that help us?

Keeps City behind us if United beat them. I don't even think City missing out on Champions League would be enough now though. I think all 3 of Forest, Newcastle and Villa will finish ahead of us. They all look better.

Villa and city will win next week, so should Newcastle so we will be 6th or 7th

Yes, and we’ve clearly got the worst run-in as well. Europa League at most for us.

MARESCA will tell anyone who will listen that we had 3 games in 7days and will be 4 games in 11 days and 5 games in 14 days so players will be tired..yeh right, he was told he needed to win something to keep his job was the reason he sent out that pile of crap in the first half

I have more faith that Man Utd as bad as they are can get something out of the City game more so than when we played them recently.

That was wholly predictable.

How have we gone from scoring 4 goals a game and looking a threat to this?

At the very least, get Gyökeres in.

The regression is massively worrying for the club World Cup and next season.

Sancho, Madueke and Neto. These are all our wingers and they have a combined total of 12 goals this season, 3 of which were scored by Madueke away at Wolves in August last year. I mean 9 goals combined from the wing since round 2 of this season is ridiculous, simply laughable... (I did not include Mudryk and George as they have no goals scored in the PL and barely contributed anything in terms of minutes.)

It would be a miracle to finish top five when you only rely on two attackers (Palmer and Jackson) to score and the occasional Enzo Fernandez surprise appearence in the box.

Such input from our wingers is just not good enough. Mid table stats. Not only they do not score, but they barely create anything and are probably the most passive and boring ones you will watch in this league.

We truly are Cole Palmer FC. Without this guy's goals and brilliance we'd not even talk about a top five finish now.

Under Maresca, I genuinely don't believe this team is good enough to finish any higher than 15th without Palmer and Caicedo. That's how bad he has made this team.

Correct, but the lack of input from the wingers I tie directly to the gaffer.

Everytime they recieve the ball it's 2v1 as the fullbacks are encouraged to invert.

That means to create anything they need to beat two men on their own, so 9/10 they turn around and recycle it.

If Gusto or Cucurella bomb up on the outside it takes a defender away, all them going inside does is clog uo the area Palmer wants to operate in.

Stretch the pitch, create one on one's make the spaces bigger. I learnt all this playing Sunday league.....

Opportunity here to be grabbing 3 points by the throat. Instead half the team look like 60 year olds playing walking football and the other half look like Laurel and Hardy.

Played like a team that thinks there’s a UEFA ban coming.

When did we score 4 against a top 10 team?

Our GD against 3 bottom half teams is 18 so we are -1 against the rest. Big scores against Southampton and Wolves aren’t a good indicator of the ability of our team

I don't fully agree. I think that first the owners must understand that they now must take the next step and give this squad the final shape. The core has been created - Palmer, Caicedo, Enzo, Cucurella, Colwill, James and to some extent Jackson. From the loanies, Santos feels like the most valuable one to come back and add to that core.

You simply can't go ahead with wingers that don't even try or bother to find ways to score goals and have such a bad input. There is not a single big club in this world without at least one top winger. Madrid, Barcelona, City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Bayern, Paris, you name it. They all benefit from a lot of goals from the wing.

Milan will finish outside of Europe and needs cash. Leao is quality and proven on the big stage. Could be the perfect fit on the left. Mbuemo also PL proven on the right wing and a goalscorer. As we all know, Barcelona are skint and need cash the same way a prostitute with a fentanyl addiction needs it. Rumour is they would let Raphinha go in order to bring funds in. He is quality and perfect for the right wing. I mean there are very good option out there in order to take this team to the next level and add firepower, the owners must wake up and take the next step.

Yesterday I said we needed 5 wins to make top 5, still the case but with one game less now.

These are the kind of matches we have got to look to win if we want Champions League football.

This is crunch time, we need to start every league game with our strongest team - drawing isn’t gonna help us overtake teams.

I still think Maresca lacks the winning mentality to get us into the top 5.

Here comes the bollox

“Overall, I think it was a good performance. The only thing we missed probably was a goal, but we created enough — more than 20 shots, so I think it’s a good volume. This is a tricky game, tricky pitch, 24 hours less than [Brentford] in terms of recovery. So overall, it’s a good one.”

How difficult is it to play two Premier League games on Thursday and Sunday? “Especially at this stage of the season, it’s very complicated. 24 hours makes a difference, that’s why I said. We planned the game to start one way and finish the other way, but overall I think we did enough to win the game. … First of all, for me when you don’t win it’s important you don’t lose so at least it’s a good point.”
