I picked a bad time to start looking in on the forum, seems our decision not to buy an experienced striker has cost us dearly, Jackson has potential but is back up quality for a team challenging for CL places and might have learned from a proper striker.

Not sure if the blame lies with the manager, scouting staff of the owners.

you would think Jackson would have known the importance here and at least not done anything stupid.

Jackson gets an obsessive amount of hate from some on here, but I agree completely. He's not a starting-level striker for a club with our aspirations. It's so obvious, and the lack of alternatives says a lot about our scouting/ squad management. People need to be held accountable, and it's not all on Maresca.

So this Enzo philosophy of ‘control’ seems more often than not to have us on the back foot. Absolutely appalling tactics from the start.

Captain Enzo getting booked for dissent, RJ not starting is a joke

I’d blame the ref there. He’s the captain and should be afforded some leeway.

We were always going to lose this one. Doesn't change much in the grand scheme of things. United and Forest are must win games.

Newcastle are hardly a top team. Got some decent players but nowhere near a top side. However they've been streets ahead of us the entire match.

We've spent over a billion for this sh*t. But when you consider our owners don't even know who Ruud Gullit is we can understand how we got here.

Newcastle knew exactly what to do in and out of possession from the kickoff. The stupid red card just really lowers any real chance of a result.

A lot to do in next two weeks. Europa league is more our level anyway

Well that was... below expectations. We've responded okay to going down to ten men, but we'll need something else in the second half. I would bring on Sancho for the awful Fernández at some point (and give Chalobah the captain's arm band). I assume Lavia can't play 90 minutes, so we would have to bring on Dewsbury-Hall or James (or Gusto if you're Maresca) at some point in the second half.

If they score again it's over. Stay in the game and try to nick a goal on the counter. Currently I don't think we have enough players going forward to do it.

P.S. Post-red card Jackson is still better than Nkunku.
