I think he's been signed as a Nkunku replacement who can possibly play anywhere across the forward line when needed.

I think he's an upgrade on what we've got out of Nkunku so far and is more sensible option as a number 10 than Enzo IMO.

However, we seriously need a new goalkeeper to improve as a team and as mentioned by @Sexyfootball I also think we'll struggle to sell players.

For me, next get a decent goalkeeper, bring back Guehi for a discounted rate and sell off as much deadwood as possible, even if it's at book value price rather than going for profit.

There have been players in the past that have taken many years to hit their peak so anything is possible but the same could be said about the players we’ve signed.

My point was everyone looking at City thinking their signings are all bangers despite them being in the same potential bracket. What’s the difference between Gittens and silvinho?

He seems a useful player whenever I see Brighton. Not sure how high his ceiling is though - seems like a Jota quality level player at Liverpool, which made their squad stronger.

Yes all of those, plus a few fringe players that were on loan last season :

GK : Sharman-Lowe, Merrick

DEF: Wiley, Gilchrist, Sturge

MID: Matos, Castledine

FWD: Broja, Deivid Washington, Jimmy Jay Morgan

I suspect mostly loans, and maybe even a couple released, but there is a decent smattering of pure profit in there if we can get decent fees for Gilchrist and Broja.

Think Anselmino will get loaned as well.

In a World Cup year? He is looking for a starting role, and is Liverpool bound if they can find a buyer for contract rebel Konate. We currently have way too many 10 CBs on our books, and I reckon Sarr is “experienced CB” they were after. Club was never serious about signing a quality experienced CB because those cost money & big wages. They are after a LB who can play CB but good luck with that. Common sense says the already have Veiga, and no sensible player is coming here to play backup to Cucurella who Maresca won’t rotate, and while Badishille is still on the bench.

I haven't seen any official announcement of Gittens yet LOL. And if we do sign him, there is no guarantee he is straight into the starting eleven, especially given our manager's propensity to come up with selection curve balls !

Position-wise btw, I was also going off where Pedro has played in his Brighton career to date (as per Transfermarkt)

Personally I would have preferred Kudus who I think is just as versatile but is a better player, but I will reserve judgement on this guy. Wasn't he the one rolling around like a Nancy and got Reece James sent off?

Anselminho is still around. Would be shocked if we sell 5 players this summer. Chukwuemeka isn’t going anywhere; club wants £40m, he is on £90k/w which is way too high for his talent level. He will probably stay at Dortmund on loan again.

Kepa has already left for Arsenal for £5m.

No one is paying the £25m ask for Ugochukwu; club made a real mess of his signing. Paid way too much; never invested/committed to his development. Should have developed him instead of signing Amougou & Essugo.

Think there was a press briefing that the club don’t want to loan out Penders because they are scared of losing him if he goes out on loan? Already seems a mess; Could have left him at Genk for another season to play Europa, or sent him immediately to Strasbourg to play Conference league. Can see him going the way of Slonina; clearly talented but wrong club for his development.

Quite possible (nay even probable !) that they spend £200m+ for the second summer in a row without materially improving the team.

Proof of the pudding will be in the performances and whether we have a better season in 25/26 than we had in 24/25. I think Top 4 again and deep in the CL and domestic cups has got to be the minimum yardstick.

I think the more pressing issue is that we are again purchasing on the back of an unwarranted level of optimism/arrogance that we will actually sell the unwanted players that we have. I'm not talking of the young players with potential that we are now ready to bin off. Where do this lot think they are selling Sterling, Chilwell, Nkunku, Felix and possibly Wesley Fofana to. Even if we loan these players we're still going to have to pay half their salaries anyway.

Yes should probably at least have tried to sell a couple first before buying yet more players. As it stands, any sporting director with a brain cell will be low-balling any offers for players, assuming we have any that they actually want to buy of course !

One joined a team with tons of experienced.players who have won trophies recently, and with a top manager who has won loads of trophies .

, Pedro was Brighton's record signing at around £30 million. A year later we stump up £50 to £60 million for the same player.

And it looks like we'll offload recently bought players at a loss. . And this big churn in players every year doesn't help the team or coach either
