Eh United could easily appoint a Xavi or a Fabregas next season, we could've just went the caretaker route like them

In reality, reading between the lines, I think that is what we have done. Soundbites like the club view qualification to the Champions League as critical and the reported comment that the contract with Rosenior has a break clause in it for either party is full of portent, imo

Because it doesn't matter what you or anyone real thinks the value of the club is, it matters what JP Morgan and other investment banks agree on what the 'value' of the club is so that they can loan more money to Clearlake, or Boehly, or Wyss or Walter etc.

All that matters is that an investment bank agrees to the mutual delusion. If Clearlake merely claims the number goes up, and JP Morgan agrees the number went up, then both can claim that, in fact, the number went up. We are talking about pretend money here, not profit or loss or anything about business in the traditional sense.

Hence the 150m valuation on a women's team that has a £1m record transfer paid for a player playing football in Kingstonians repurchased ground. The Chelsea women's team have been the dominant force in women's football pretty much throughout the lifespan of the WSL. It's a natural law of evolution that that domination will be eroded over time. 150m!

And also why Feliciano did not say "it is more important to make profits on players sold than win or lose on the field". No he spoke of this, business value.

Got a mixture of some tricky games and some very winnable games in the next few weeks, so we'll have a better idea after that.

I am currently liking him and thinking he comes across very well but also very aware that we might have a David Brent type character and it all could go horribly wrong. He's only been here 1 week and already the David Brent references are all over the place. Perhaps he should not talk so much and let the performances on the pitch speak for themself.

Hopefully we will soon have everyone bar Colwill and Lavia (WHAT has happened to Lavia?), fit and available and let's just hope he plays the right players in the right positions and I genuinely hope he does well and goes onto build something.

I agree less talk and more walk would be preferable.

I imagine he's just following the script from the owners with all the verbiage in the media

No surprise to me that he's already named his 5 "special talents" as Palmer, Fernandez, Caicedo, Neto and Estevao ... with no mention of Reece James, who I strongly suspect the owners want to sell in the summer when he enters the final 2 years of his contract.

IN DM (behind the paywall)

In time, Reece James, Cole Palmer and Chelsea other players may stroll into their Cobham training ground anticipating a routine session on the pitch, only to be ushered into a private room to participate in a Lego-building competition instead. That has been one of Liam Rosenior’s team-bonding ideas since he first became a head coach – a light-hearted way for his players to connect and create away from the field.

Rosenior explained how his system is not a million miles away from Maresca’s – save for the odd tactical tweak – but how highly he values creating human connections between each other.

His office door being forever open, he has spoken individually with several of his stars. Palmer, so he understands why he will not rush into overly using him at the risk of re-injury. With Robert Sanchez, to explain how any errors he commits are on not on him as the goalkeeper but rather himself as the head coach, alongside a pledge to have his back in public. With Estevao Willian, whose English is improving, so he is not overly disappointed when he does not start. With Moises Caicedo, explaining how he wants Chelsea fans in 10 years’ time to think of him alongside Claude Makelele and N’Golo Kante as one of their midfield greats.

With Wesley Fofana, to gauge how he would feel facing Arsenal as a left-sided centre back rather than a right-sided one and following Martin Odegaard in a man-to-man strategy.

Chelsea were brave when taking on Arsenal in persisting with trying to pass from the back, and it was not only Rosenior who agreed they should avoid ripping up their approach, even if it was the Premier League’s most vivacious pressers who were visiting. If there is one word to sum up those first sessions, we are told it is ‘react’. They carried a focus on how they respond to setbacks, including losing the ball. He reiterated that it is ‘no problem’ if you or a team-mate relinquishes possession, so long as you ‘react well’ in trying to win it back. No sulking. No sluggishness. Help your mates and they will help you. One for all and all for one.

Rosenior believes if he respects his players, then they will respect him, the young coach telling those who have not seen as many minutes as they would have liked under Maresca that they have a clean slate with him. Jorrel Hato has already seen his own increase in opportunities.

When Chelsea’s squad were told to make sure they wash their hands amid the virus spreading through the camp, with illness having struck down Liam Delap and Jamie Gittens this week, it was said to have been done with humour. Rosenior is emotionally intelligent, and he says he has only been himself since coming into the club, because he believes players will soon see through him if he pretended to be someone he is not.

Training time has been limited, though. After losing to Arsenal on Wednesday, a recovery session was scheduled for Thursday, leaving only Friday to prepare for playing Brentford on Saturday. Listening to advice, around 30 minutes has been allocated for actual tactical work on the pitch. Against Arsenal, they conceded three goals – the first to a corner, the second after a throw-in, and it did not go unnoticed by Rosenior that the third followed a free-kick in the visitors’ own half. Given Brentford’s heavy focus on set-pieces, including long throws, that will be worked on.

so BRENTFORD are reliant on set pieces but he allocated only 30 mins to tactical work on the pitch (were they locked away playing with lego for the rest of the day?), He obviously hasn't done his homework if he thinks he can get this bunch of clowns playing out from the back...

THIS BLOKE WILL BE GONE AT THE END OF THE SEASON

James unless we get CL or win something of note will be gone, Rumours Palmer is not happy and Enzo also wants out, if they are sold how long before Caicedo and Estevao will be wanting to jump ship?

I disagree with respect to James. I believe that he'd stay at Chelsea if it was his choice, if he's sold, it won't be because he wants to leave his club and fans but because the owners want to cash in on him.

100%. It will be the owners cleaning house of the last bastions of the Roman era. Trev on borrowed time too ... (expecting him to be first out the door when they bring in this new centre back).

If they force James out the Bridge will be in full revolt. Heads on spikes, the full works.

They've tried to get rid of Big Trev before and failed miserably. He'll still be here in his fifties, after the revolution, when all the private equity detritus have been killed or imprisoned.

At the point that I think Reece James is gone I will be in full anti blue co and include all operatives, mode.☹️

It’s one of James or Palmer this summer, unless someone magically pays an extortionate fee for Enzo.

Then next summer it’s one of those 2 who doesn’t leave vs Estevao.

Then the summer after that, if he reaches his potential it’s probably Quenda.

The second these glorified accountants sniff a ‘profit’ they’ll be all over it like a tramp on sick.

Yup. Their ideal signing turns out like Madueke, a book value profit and an actual cash profit.

As long as the book value is there though they are happy.

If he is then the SD's have to be gone too. And ideally somebody else from Blueco takes over the decisions at the board level from Eghbali.

The amount of sticky tissue there must be at Clearlake HQ everytime the name ‘Omari Hutchinson’ is mentioned.

Rosenior explained how his system is not a million miles away from Maresca’s – save for the odd tactical tweak – but how highly he values creating human connections between each other.

Which basically translates to:

"The board will still be calling the shots like before, and before that, and all I'll be doing is relaying that to the players and staff! I might be a bit different from Enzo and include a Lego building exercise to show I am more elite, and I will listen to the superiority more than he and Poch ever did! Now, where is my Guitar for another group building exercise...."

I would think Ted Lasso must be high up on the list of next managerial appointments after Rosenior.

The list of contenders to replace Rosenior in order:

1-Gary O'Neil

-Jason Sudeikis (actually the actor)

-Facundo Buonanotte (brought back as a player manager on a 12 year deal, 7 years for the player part and 5 years for the manager part).

"Liam explains the word manager " on ESPN

😂😂

In English, ‘manage’, if you split the two words is ‘man’ and ‘age’, so ‘you’re ‘ageing men’,” he continues.

Hang on. You cannot be serious.

No AI program on earth could come up with such pure, undiluted LinkedIn corporate babble if you asked it to.

The worst thing is that there’s a very large audience for this kind of thing
