Jeremy Jaquet

Featured Replies

Seems a lot of rumours stating this is basically done. Know nothing about Jeremy Jaquet only he’s Clearlake all over. 20 year old I think a French centre back ( we like those). Probably another flop but we sometimes find a good one once and a while. €60 million is rumoured 😳

Jeremy Jacquet is just under 6 foot 3 tall.

Been with Rennes since early 2024 but only made 28 apparences for them so far as he spent time out on loan in the second league.

Apparently they want to break their club record sale of Jeremy Doku for him. Lol

Sounds like another Jamie Gittens egg on face deal to me.

Why not just recall Sarr?

Our record with signing French defenders under Clearlake has been dreadful so I am not full of confidence.

Oh great point. Imagine him being a flop an having a back 3 of him, Badiashile and Disasi.

Dont think we’ve had a good record with the Jack family either. Jackson and Simple Jack haven’t exactly worked out.

Another dreadful singing if it goes through. Nothing against the kid as I don't know him, he could grow up to become the re incarnation of JT.

But for the time being, he is the last thing the squad needs. Another inexperienced player adding unpredictability to the backline.

Add the rumored fee to the mix and I start to think that this isn't incompetence from the board. It's cold, calculated sabotage.

I've gotta be honest I like a bit of Phil Collins...No Jacket Required ( as a previous poster has commented)

  • Phil also has an as yet unreleased album No Gittens required 😉

I found the spelling of his name really annoying, until I bothered to google him to find the accurate spelling is Jérémy Jacquet. This makes all the difference! Let's sign this child up, he'll ace the Lego requirements.

I dont trust this board at all.

Its another expensive signing based on potential. He might work out but it is a throw of the dice and most likely he will need a season or 2 to settle in. I doubt it will help us much in the short term. So in other words another asset for the hedge fund.

I don’t necessarily mind singing younger players but the fees that we’re buying them for are ridiculous. At £50-60m, there’s little sell on value and adds to an already bloated FFP list.

I don't really get why (in a multi-club model) they'd be signing any of these young players for Chelsea, with the inherent "Chelsea tax". You'd think they would want to take all of them via Strasbourg for much lower fees in the first instance and then punt them up to us if/when they look PL ready,

Guehi wasn't available for 20m

Manchester City just signed him for £20m ?

Marc Guehi transfer news: Manchester City agree £20m fee...

Marc Guehis contract with Crystal Palace is set to expire at the end of the season; he has attracted interest from a number of Premier League and foreign clubs; Man City have agreed to pay an initial

Supposedly we had a right to match that, and also get 20% of the fee, so maybe BlueCo just decided to bank the £4m rather than attempt to sign him for what would have been effectively £16m. I'd guess they also sounded him out and found out very quickly he had zero interest in joining us.

We love a young player with little experience apart from if they’re one of our own.

How long before Josh does a Guehi ?

Not long I imagine ... unless we intend to have a massive fire sale of centre backs and also give him a large pay rise ...

One, maybe two more transfer windows ?

The rumored 300k a week made this a no go in my opinion .

Guehi was never an option for us. Not a chance he wanted to come back.

Wages and the other clubs in for him made this a non starter.

If we are prepared to pay that much I don’t understand why we aren’t going for PL tested CB’s. For another 25 million we might be able to get Murillo or maybe even Van De Ven (a bit of sick in my mouth there). Both still young enough to fit our model.

If we sell Enzo I’d go after Tonali at Newcastle. Reckon he’d do well for us.

City signing him for 20m doesn't mean he was available for 20m

Because as you say. We would have sounded him out and he'd have said no. This transfer was between the biggest clubs in the world, City, real Madrid, and maybe Pool/PSG.

We don't fish in those ponds. I think the last time we did was when we signed Hazard.

The question of Guehi is irrelevant. The question can be, "why don't we go and get Murillo or Van Der Ven" for 70-80m€ as @19seventyone says. But we don't seem comfortable spending that much money either anymore.

I can’t be bothered to maths but surely it costs more to pay 60m transfer and 100k wages than 20m transfer and 300k wages?

So we are willing to risk this amount of money on another young cb whilst we have anselmino and that strasborg cb on the books that we could easily recall, makes zero sense unless this jacket fella really is something very special.

I did the maths over 5 years - not a lot in it. Maybe they factor in resale value, but we're missing the point a bit with success on the pitch.

  • £60M + (£5.2M * 5 years) = £86M

  • £20M + (£15.6M * 5 years) = £98M

Gap widens over longer deal.
