February 2Feb 2 He’ll probably go on to be a great haha! But I want to see Sarr and Josh - both have all the attributes and we have the need.

February 2Feb 2 BREAKING: Chelsea offered the same deal as Liverpool for Jacquet but the player changed his mind and decided to move to Liverpool after it became apparent Mamadou Sarr was coming back to #CFC and also the fact Acheampong was staying. (@SkySportsNews)
February 2Feb 2 We shouldn’t do anything that pushes Josh out. I think he’s top quality. We do need to sort out back line out as it feels very patchy. I would say the following is good:RB: Reece and Gusto CBS: Colwill, Fofana, Trev, Josh LB: Hato, CucuThere’s a question about how much can we trust Fofana’s fitness so there might be room for one more CB but it’s a tricky balance. Jacquet didn’t want to come and sit on the bench. They want to play I know the club will be keen to sell Trev but he’s proven himself to be a good and dependable squad player.
February 2Feb 2 How can you push for a player all month and then with a straight face claim you weren't that keen anyway because you want to keep your current young CB. If you wanted to do that, you wouldn't push for the new one. It's just endless PR briefs from this ownership.
February 2Feb 2 Genuinely happy this has fallen through, have full faith given the same amount of gametime that Josh will end up twice the player. However this f**king PR bo**ocks needs to stop, don’t leak it in the first place then don’t backtrack like wet wipes, f**king hate the way we operate now. Proper amateur hour.

It's just endless PR briefs from this ownership.Because as normal they messed it up by dilly dallying over the fee while getting Sarr back, so he changed his mind to join Liverpool and probably just sees us as messers. If we had agreed the fee a few days ago we could have got Sarr now and Jaquet in the summer and he'd just have to battle for his place, but as nornal we did evything in a topsy turvy manner and literally waited for Liverpool to bid, match thier fee and then get rejected.I don't believe it is a PR stunt - the board ain't smart enough for that! It's them doing the same tactics as with Kounde, Simmons and now Jacquet and getting the exact same results. The very definition of insanity.

We don't know when and in what shape Levi will come back and how this injury will affect his long term career. Trev is a decent albeit limited backup but he isn't and never will be good enough to be a starter in a top side. Hato looks like someone who needs to spend a couple of years on loan, he's clearly struggling at that level. Josh is an exciting prospect but needs to play regularly to develop. Don't know anything about Sarr but his age and inexperience only add to our long list of problems.Way too many ifs, buts and maybes.
February 2Feb 2 Fofana can't be relied upon when he's fit either. He's very overrated. Plus, he's a total twat off the pitch.
February 2Feb 2 Josh remains very much an unknown quantity given how little we’ve seen of him. Colwill feels a little bit the same. He’s definitely shown potential (rather than many who we just say have potential), but this injury could quite easily knacker things up for him.The rest of our CB’s are either just not very good (Badiashille) or at best would make acceptable squad depth (Trev, Fofana). It seems obvious to me that the defence is our biggest issue and desperately needs addressing - and not with more 19/20 year olds. But never going to happen.
February 2Feb 2 I'm shocked there isn't any noise about us wanting to go for Van hecke. Consistent PL player, 25 years old, Brighton, coming to the end of his contract and wants to leave. Must be the SD's wet dream.
February 2Feb 2 Author Could this be the end of us trying to buy French centre backs that have just had a growth spurt?
February 6Feb 6 The prevailing opinion in France is that the fee is ridiculous and that anyone that pays that much is a "pigeon" (an idiot from which money is easy to part)...
