Following the World Cup hopefully our Blueco sporting directors now know who Jon Stones is. Of course with these twats, that's not a given, but hopefully.

Desailly was three weeks shy of his 30th birthday when he made his competitive debut for us. Tiago Silva was 35. Stones is 32 and is available on a FREE transfer. He is exactly what we need. Experienced, won it all, leadership qualities and always comes across as an intelligent thoughtful guy in his interviews. Just the role model our young players need. Why isn't this done and dusted already?

I would sign him and make him vica captain. That way, hopefully he or Reece would be available to be captain for 5 games a season!

It is an absolute no brainer bringing him in. Better than any centre half we have by a distance, on a free, and is a name we can remember easily. Which one is Badiashille again?

What is often forgotten as well is that Stones is a ball playing CB that has also played in the pivot. In fact he was the first player we saw inverting his position.

I like the guy, always have done. It's such a no brainer because he is exactly what is needed within our back line, so we know it would never happen.

As fantastic and logical a move this would be for all parties, I just can’t see him going anywhere but Everton.

It feels like the most Everton signing ever.

Only thing id be wary of is his poor injury record, hes missed 70 games in the past 3 seasons, plus plenty of "being eased back in" games.

I thought the same but he was asked this in an interview on the last day last season and he made a point of saying that he was fit all of last season, he just wasn't selected.

I think the perfect option if possible, would be a basic low salary, and a pay as you play

big bonus to reach the sort of money he's on now. His type of experience is essential

with our squad. If it could be a rolling 1 year contract too, all the better.

Can people stop with this pay as you play nonsense?

And then to rub it in, we played them a few weeks after this and he put in a worldie of a performance when they beat us 3-1 and had Costa in his pockets all game.

To be fair not playing is the best way to not get injured.
