I have absolutely no sympathy for Torres and I can't understand those who have a problem with the booing. He has got off very lightly over the last two years and clearly a sizeable section of the support now think enough is enough. You pay your money and you takes your choice. Those people booing are the paying punters, who sacrifice time and money to support their club. They are doing what they feel is right for Chelsea, and I happen to agree with them.

Torres is a professional footballer, though you wouldn't know it. If you play as he has for as long as he has you can expect to get some stick. It goes with the territory. You take the accolades, you take the cash, you take the glory. There are a lot of benefits to being in the position he's in and he's had unwavering support since he joined. He's been given every chance. He can hardly complain.

He wanted top billing, he made that clear. He didn't like the way we played, he made that clear. He moaned when we won in Munich. He showed dissent to Di Matteo on the rare occasions he was subbed, despite being a below-par performer. This boy needs humbling and I think the boos did the trick on Wednesday. I don't think he'll be moaning in the press anytime soon about how the club are letting him down and I don't think he'll be shaking his head when he gets subbed. Those days have gone. He will no longer be indulged. You're no longer the golden boy so stop acting like one. Get your head down and practice, because you are sh*t.

If he had any humility he would have seen a head doctor long ago, because that's where the problem lies, in his head. He is scared to walk on a football field and has been since the day he joined, hence he hides. It is unforgivable. He takes home 175k a week. We should expect a return he should endeavour to provide a return. Go and see the head doctor and sort out your head. You owe it to Chelsea.

Nothing has changed apart from the fan reaction. Torres has been sh*t since he joined and all the excuses have been found out. Suddenly the slow-coaches have all begun to realise.

He has continually said the truth will come out about his departure from Liverpool. The truth is Nando, we trebled your wages. That's the truth. You left the club get over it. Grow some f**king balls for f**k's sake stop trying to pander to the Liverpool masses. You can't leave them and expect them to love you. You have to be tough. You have to allow them to think what they want about you. You are our player now. We deserve more.

Where's your f**king head?

I've criticised him all along the line. I didn't like his attitude towards Di Matteo I hated his reaction in the penalty shoot-out in Munich I've hated his body language on the pitch and I've hated his performances. You need to be tough to play for Chelsea, you need to be very tough upstairs, in the head. He isn't and he's never addressed that. Ba arrives and talks about how Torres is the main man and how he has so much to learn from him. Can you imagine Torres saying the same thing about Ba? Can you imagine Torres having the humility to go up to Ba and ask for tips? The fans needed to make plain how the pecking order stands, and ultimately, I think it will do Torres some good. The facade that he is some kind of elite player is over. He needs to stop those fancy flicks when we're cruising. He needs to knuckle down and address his problems and try to get back to being competent.

Stop pretending you're Juan Mata. You're not.

To those that say the booing might dent his confidence, don't make me laugh. He is sh*t and nothing has worked for nearly two years. This might be the shot in the arm he needs. Maybe it will make him angry maybe it will motivate him. If he's got anything about him it will. It's up to him to fight. He's had it way too good for too long.

When he walks into training now his status has been established. There is no more pretence and I think that's exactly what he needs. It's exactly what we all need. We need a Torres that has the humility to understand what a shocking performer he's been with us, and the problems all lie with him, nobody else.

Spot on davey  maybe he is too proud to realise he is playing terrible and try to get better. The boo's may be exactly what he needs to realise not everyone is satisfied with his peformance.

yep, a really good post Davey ...

Yes, DB, a great post. The only thing I disagree with is that the problems are all 'in his head'. To my eyes, they are in his heart, or rather, his lack of heart, but I think that's what you mean, to a degree.

It's a combination of his head, his injuries and his heart. I've backed him all the way and will continue to do so, I certainly won't boo him (or any other of our players for that matter) but even Stevie Wonder can see he needs to leave for our sake and his.

Booing Torres is only going to fuel the fire and make him even more mental than he already is...The outcome is that the shoddy play continues.

Can't we just usher him off in the middle of the night to the first club that wants him? Roman, admit you failed miserably with a major purchase nobody at the club or fanbase wanted AGAIN and be done with this.

I've never ever in my life seen somebody with so much money make such ridiculous mistakes over and over again. How did he even achieve the bank account he has is baffling. Mr Yeltsin must be rolling over in his grave.

it came to me today who torres reminds me of...he is the audley harrison of football...fans can forgive a lot of things (hey, we bloody got behind him for 18 months +), but lack of fight is unforgiveable...if he looked like he gave a sh*t, made runs etc, something he had done fleetingly, but particularly last season, then he wouldn't get booed off...there is no excuse for not trying, hiding and just being miserable...it won't get any better by sulking

Don't think he will start but if he does get some minutes at the end people just want to see some fire in his belly. Surely the booing the other night should make him angry. The game against newcastle when he got booked for diving he got angry and looked a top player again. 80% of this season he just looks disinterested out there and I have no clue why.

Get out there and run your arse into the ground ffs and look hungry. It's the minimum people ask and torres needs to start doing it.

What a respectful response after two years of frustration! Chelsea supporters saw Liverpool get £50 mill for this pretender, one of the biggest f**k ups in our history as far as i'm concerned, Spainish supporters would boo Torres if he had this attitude playing for his country so why wouldn't we when he has this attitude playing for us?

I don't think Rafa had any option but to drop him tbh, Stoke will be a tough game and we can't afford to be anything other than at our very best

Wouldn't surprise me if Torres started again against Southampton, but I guess in part that depends on how Ba performs now. Then again... why not both?

yeah, Torres lined up for so-called 'easier' meat against Soiuthampton I reckon...if he scores the last goal in a 4-0 win (that scoreline being a miracle in itself the way we are playing) bet rafa says, he's back, top striker, blah, blah, blah

And then if he plays sh*t again, what will the excuse be? I don't think you can use 'tummy ache' 2 matches in a row.

Head ache, sore throat, emotional trauma?

Either way, FSW must think we are all retarded if he thinks we believed that.

Yes, DB, a great post. The only thing I disagree with is that the problems are all 'in his head'. To my eyes, they are in his heart, or rather, his lack of heart, but I think that's what you mean, to a degree.

Totally agree and that's a good way of putting it. The sad thing is, when he walked into Chelsea, he walked into a dressing room with tons of heart. Drogba, Lampard, Cole, Terry, Cech, Essien, Ivan. We could go on and on. He walked into a dressing room full of winners, full of very tough characters, who have been through their fair share of adversity. You would think some of that would rub off on him. You should always be learning, as a professional, and he had an awful lot to learn off them, in terms of character. Now that he finds himself in a spot, with his relationship with the fans, he needs to follow the example of those players and fight back. He has shown no fight since he came here so this will be a very interesting period.

Regarding the booing, I have no doubt that it will be beneficial. I'm not saying he will improve but his attitude will improve because when he runs on the pitch he will no longer flap his arms in the air like he's the big man, he will no longer bitch to the press about wrongdoings of the club, and he will no longer have a face on if he's subbed or if he's on the bench. All that's changed, as a result of the booing. He can no longer kid himself as to his status. He will know he will no longer have the status of fans' favourite bestowed upon him, as it was before, rather he will have to earn it, and that may do him some good.

I really don't think it can harm him. After all, he couldn't get any worse.

It was time the fans showed him what was what. Now he knows.

Boo'd again apparently when walking over to applaud the fans, some classless c**ts out there.

And the fans should cheer him because he did nothing in a game we won? He's lost the support of the fans which usually and hopefully means he doesn't have long here.

Don't agree with booing him like this though but I wouldn't condemn our fans for expressing themselves.
