Ami the only one thinking Dave is performing better in this new position than he did at full back? Always lacked the ability to burst forward to be a truly world class full back in my eyes. In the CB role he can concentrate on what he does best.

In terms of how little he cost and what he's done since he is certainly one of our best ever pieces of business.

Ashley Cole is the only other past player I can think of that matches the consistency shown by Dave.

Ferreira cost a lot of money from what I remember and the other two are beyond my time. 

He wasn't cheap but that has nothing to do with consistency.

His name did slip my mind to be honest, good catch. 

Ferreira was consistent but limited in some ways. Great servant. 

 

Petrescu is one of my favourite all time players, Ferrer was genuinely top-class, and Azpilicueta is definitely in that class.

Cole, however, is a clear number one. Arguably the best fullback in the history of English football, and one of the best of all time considering he has played against and dominated two of the all time great attackers in Ronaldo and Messi.

He was amazing tonite, even though that pikey c**t vardy tried to injure him. I hate him so much.

It was a hefty challenge but didn't really look deliberate.

It was deliberately,  a very sneaky and nasty whack disguised as a tackle.

Not getting a lot of recognition this season but he's been excellent at CB for us this season. Should in theory be to short to be a CB but he's a big part of why we are hardly letting goals in lately.

Cesar again fantastic, his 5th season in the club made 199 appearances and it would take a lot of thinking to remember in how many games hasn't he really been top notch. One of our finest signings, not a big name but always does the job and one of my favorite players in this team. He just adapts to every position we need him to, if he could provide cover for wing back as well then just give him the f**king Balon D'Or.

He's by far the best one on one defender we have, and he's up there as one of the best in the league in 1v1 situations, I think he's perfect in his CB role to be honest, i've never seen his height cause a problem, and he's 5'10" so not exactly tiny anyway. His stats are fantastic as well, i believe he's averaging 3.8 tackles per game, which is amazing. Still getting over the fact that we signed him for 7 million quid, what an absolute steal. 

Always like when we sign a player for a small price and they go on to exceed expectations. Much more satisfying than spending 20, 30 or 40m on someone.

I bet he could provide cover for Diego if required, versatility personafied

probably the most underrated player in the world if he play for liverpool the dippers would say "focken spanish phillip laaaahm mate!"

also i watched friday night live on chelsea tv and every player when asked who's the most competitive they all answered dave, that he's obsessed with winning, from cards, video games, table tennis, even drills on the training ground 

it's very refreshing to hear that, the sense of competitiveness itself is dying on modern athletes these days, all about the money and the fame

You haven't seen competitiveness until you see a man lose a game of Fifa to a 91st minute goal.

Great news, great player!

Brilliant news - will it 200 appearances tomorrow, assuming he plays. Mr Reliable, fits perfectly into our system - I can see him breaking into our top 10 highest appearance makers by the time he finally leaves.
