New Barcelona's manager is looking for a RB and it seems like Azpilicueta is target number one.

Smart manager, but there is no way, we will lose him.

Not happening. They can try though. We'd be happy to slap the big back in their faces.

Azpi is also very far from the type of player who'd want to leave. Has totally bought into the culture at the club and could become 2nd captain next year.

I'd rather lose Hazard than Dave.

I value them just the same. Hazard is a special player you need to compete for big titles and Azpilicueta is one of those rare players that just seems to be consistent wherever you play them.

If we brought in another CB or 2, could he play the RWB role? He's naturally more defensive than moses, but i'd say his actual final ball is better, and he has the energy to get up and down the pitch all game. It could allow us to strengthen CB and not lose out on Dave in the starting 11.

Potentially a very unpopular opinion but I think Azpi has been well below his standards throughout preseason and in the community shield. I hope he picks up his form. If we do sign Van Dijk I think he could be out of the team due to Moses offering a far greater attacking threat at right wing back.

Azpi is our most versatile defender by a country mile.  He's also got stamina, great technique, and pace.  I feel so much more confident when Azpi is in our team than when he is not.  An undroppable player for me

You are right. He has been unusually sloppy. However it is not in his charachter to be content. We will see the old Dave starting from game 1.

I would easily give him the armband. His persona is perfect for a captain. No disrespect to Gazza.

Pretty much every player has though.

Gets a bit heated sometimes and doesn't keep a cool head, which would be good for a captain to do.

My friend said this.

When there tends to be a bit of a scrap, Azpi is always the first one over gesturing cards and pushing opposition players, lol.

Had a decent game against Spurs but rushed into midfield to press a few times and got beat which could've cost us another day

Can't really blame him for that though as he very often wins the ball or presses the opposition into a mistake just needs to be careful when up against top quality opposition.

Love this guy more than anything.

He puts in so much effort every game, and he's become so versatile for us now. I can't believe boring Cahill got given the armband when enthusiasm and passion oozes out of every pore from Dave.

An identical assist for Morata from the Everton game. His early crossing is on point and I've definitely seen him do it a few times before. The fact that Morata runs into the box more for headed goals than Costa might mean Azpi could rack up some assists this season.

Defends like a CB, set's up goals like a CM and now scores goals like a striker..........the most complete player in world football

Actually when you look at his career, at youth level he started out as a forward, then turned into a midfielder then debuted pro as a RB then converted into LB and now CB :laugh2:

Thibaut best watch out, he'll be in goal next!

This guy is so damn good. People say he wouldn't work as good as a LWB but i'm not so sure. He's better than Alonso defensively and going forward he is proving to be a bit of a handful. In the last few games, Alonso has been getting caught out defensively and if it wasn't for the CB's we would have conceded a few goals from his side. Azpilicueta wouldn't get caught out because as a full back he is brilliant in one v one situations and positionally he is one of the best in the world.

Because we are so well covered at CB now, maybe we can give the LWB spot to Azpilicueta. Alonso may offer goals going forward, but for our all round game, i think we would be better with Azpilicueta playing there.
