June 28, 201610 yr Pictured alongside Pedro talking to Conte yesterday in the tunnel. The rumoured £18m surely false. Would be fuming if we let him go for anywhere near that.

July 1, 201610 yr I do worry about his future though if we play 352. I get the feeling Conte would play Cuadrado on the right and Baba on the left.I just don't think Cuadrado is suited to the league, but maybe playing in that system under Conte, he'd look a completely different player. I think with him able to play left and right and centre back it would be silly for Conte to let him go I agree, and it's not like he just manages, he performs to a very high level in all of them!
July 1, 201610 yr Some idiot at a certain newspaper throws in a ridiculous rumor and are we supposed to believe it? Azpi signed a new five year deal in Sep 2014, so he has more than 3 years left of his contract with us. Conte had a chat with him after the Spain game and i doubt he was telling him " listen mate, i am releasing you for 14 mil :) United paid 30 million pounds for an unknown Ivorian defender and we are selling one of the best defenders in the PL for 14 million? Give me a break.

July 2, 201610 yr A few Chelsea twitter accounts are saying that Cesar has been guaranteed a place in the team by Conte next season One of the best fullbacks in the league since he joined the club while often out of position....Im hoping this was a given!
July 2, 201610 yr Just anyone agree that Azpilicueta could play in a three across the back. He is a great defender first and foremost and having played both full back positions could be forced out wide if play permits it.

October 17, 20169 yr If we stick with our 3/5 at the back formation (which all evidence suggests we should) where will Dave fit in? Zouma HAS to play when he is fit, and presumably he would take the right sided centre back role. JT should fill the centre spot then I would presume Luiz would be left sided CB. With Moses playing so well at wing back i dont see where Dave will feature in our first choice 11? Arguably he could go back to the left and play instead of Luiz there, but I don't think that is likely. I hope this isnt the beginning of the end of Dave in our first team. He's been tremendous over the last few years, even playing in a supposedly unpreferred position. Cracking player and i hope he stays in the team, but you've gotta do what's best by the team and zouma, jt and luiz boasts a back 3 withgreat strength and aerial ability, with pace to cover both flanks too.

He's our best defender hands down. 3 at the back helps to conceal his weakness in the air. The more I see Luiz in this formation the more I'm certain he'll do well. JT doesn't have long left and Zouma needs to get fit and sharp so I feel like they'll be sharing a position for most of the season.
October 17, 20169 yr Zouma doesn't have to play. Quite the opposite actually. He is coming off a major injury and may not be as good as he was before for a little while. I would rather not put all our eggs in a potentially broken basket.
October 17, 20169 yr Dave looks pretty comfortable on the right side of the back three, I don't doubt he'll play at right wingback at some point... maybe against United depending on how confident Conte is feeling. But once again Dave seamlessly transitions to playing a new role, probably the best player in terms of versatility I've ever seen play for Chelsea.
October 17, 20169 yr He's been great ever since the 343 formation took effect, his mobility and speed is a great asset when playing 3 at the back. At one stage on Saturday, he was organising set pieces defence, great to see.
October 18, 20169 yr Hope he keeps his place even if when we get Zouma back. I think Terry Zouma and Cesar should work nicely, with Luiz and Cahill covering. Ivanović as much as i am a big fan of him i don't see him lasting beyond this season.
November 6, 20169 yr First he mastered RB, then he mastered LB, now it's time to master CB. He's the perfect defender.
November 6, 20169 yr He must be one of our best ever transfers. He was originally a competent RB, then he became a brilliant LB and now he's performing brilliantly at CB. Marseille must be kicking themselves.
November 7, 20169 yr Absolute gun! I've never felt he's been truly appreciated all over the years but his versatility is unreal!

Might be controversial and I am slightly bias but he's Top 5 for me, will probably be Top 3 if he keeps this up for the next 5 years which doesn't seem unreasonable given how consistent he's already been since his first game. Ashley Cole is the only other past player I can think of that matches the consistency shown by Dave. Edited November 7, 20169 yr by Remodez
