I dont/Did not agree with Conte's decision to start GC ahead of Rudi but this is ridiculous. I mean seriously... WOW!!!

Agree, and all the negativity towards GC when we kept a clean sheet. What kind of abuse would be directed at him had we lost yesterday. His time is coming to an end, and he should be respected for his loyal service and trophies he has helped win.

That's twitter tbf, dangerous place for your brain, no idea why I even posted the link I should have expected no better.

That's an app you'll find the most ungrateful fans.

That's an app you'll find the most ungrateful scummy lowest of the low humans finally having a platform to project their bile to contaminate the rest of humanity. It's not even funny.

"Respected"?

At this moment I would take indifference from the fans towards him if the only alternative is "HATE".

He is our club captain and the amount of abuse he gets is criminal. Again, I wanted Rudi to start, but even if GC had scored an unfortunate OG, I still would never ever abuse him (or any player who GIVES HIS ALL FOR THE CLUB).

Well, it's clear to see who this year's scapegoat will be when we don't get a win this season.

I agree that based on form, Cahill shouldn't be starting games right now, but to directly blame him for a draw against Arsenal is ridiculous.

If you want to blame one player for us not winning the game (  but you shouldn't because it's a team game ) then you should blame Pedro for messing up his one v one chance.

This sh*t i am looking at on Twitter is why i avoid sh*t holes like that site. All they are looking for are retweets and likes and the best way to get those things is to target someone and take the piss out of them. Any Chelsea fan that is taking part in the ridiculing of our club captain or any Chelsea player is a d**khead, and that is the nicest thing i can say about them. Cahill doesn't deserve that, he's always given his all for the club.

Some idiot on here wished - not even thinly veiled -  either a red card or an injury on Cahill, and claimed 'hyperbole' when he was called an idiot. So nobody means to slag Cahill, it's us not being smart about it, you see?

Do you think he even knows what "hyperbole" means?

I expect it was googled :)  The education-substitute for this short-attention span generation

What a load of generalising nonsense. Or does generalising not bother you when your buddies are doing it, @dkw?

8 minutes ago, yorkleyblue said:

Explain why that is generalising?  You shouldn't be using words that you don't fully understand the meaning of.

You're saying that your statement is true of an entire generation. i.e. we have a short attention span and no proper education. Clearly not true.

No, and it pains me that the education system in this country has now bred people like you, who appear not to have a comprehension of the written English.  I said "The education-substitute for this short attention span generation"  That means that, if you categorise yourself, or are easily categorised as being of a short attention span, then google is your education substitute.  There are many, many people for whom this is not the case.  I suspect that you are not one of them.  And, you misused the word generalising.  Again.  That's the point.

I could quite easily grab a quick definition of generalising if you'd like, but you'll just give it the old 'my old dictionary from the 50's is better than that and says something different like you have before'. You always said short attention span GENERATION. This clearly means you're categorising everyone born within this time frame.

If there was one person to verbally scapegoat and vent your abuse towards, it's Diego Costa, the guy who doesn't care. GC puts in every bit of effort and has won every trophy in domestic & European football.

I hope Diego Costa sh*ts himself in the shower, then, when trying to clean it up, throws up on top of that, thus creating an even greater mess.

Bit Random!

There was a good "presentation?" (i don't know what you'd call it) on one of the Chelsea podcasts this week (i think "the Chels" but might have been "London is blue").

It was looking at the performances of the Chelsea back 3 against Arsenal on the weekend statistically and arguably Cahill was the best.

Highlights for him included winning all his aerial duels and giving away zero fouls.

I'm a little bemused by some of the stick he got for the game really. We kept a clean sheet and his issues on the ball were more about our midfield not performing than his inadequacies.

With Azpi and Luiz both ball-playing defenders, I'm perfectly happy for a more traditional pure defender in the 3rd CB role for balance.

What is this trying to prove, honestly? Slander one of our best defenders, in our most succesful era? Theres nothing wrong with slowly playing it out the back. Not every play needs to be played with a drive out the back. The person who made this caption/clip is a donkey themselves, who just exposed their limited understanding of the game as far as I'm concerned (For anyone that has played this sport or any sport competitively for that matter).

Its quite saddening that so much hate and dislike is thrown towards Cahill, and any other player thats pulled on our shirt for us and given 100% for that matter, and won so much!

Aswell, it is very bewildering that so much attention has been thrown at one of our most decorated players, yet I can point out easily as many faults with our other fan favourites. Don't get me wrong, every player has their faults, no matter how great they are. But Gary is not some "donkey."

He certainly is a traditional centreback and very different to Luiz & Azpi.

But you can't argue he was the weakness in our team last season, him and Matic were by far our two biggest underperformers. I don't think he thrives in the system of having little cover, his first two years under Mourinho he was one of the best CB's in the Premier League. Kurt Zouma also looked very poor in the back 3, although he has come back from a big knee injury. I just don't think the system is for limited defenders, they get exposed even defensively because they're not used to having such little cover, they lack ambition/confidence, they rely on more security. So I can't agree with the assessment that Cahill's style of play just makes the back 3 more diverse, "balanced" or less one-dimensional, he just adds a lot of gaping holes & weaknesses, a lot of big teams capitalise on him.

I agree that Cahill should not be getting this abuse, but let's not let it sugarcoat the problem here, he's still massively underperforming in this system, you would have to be blind to not see that.

Obviously there's no need to call Cahill names and be childish, but the video is a clear illustration of his limitations. If we're able to bring the ball out via all 3 CBs it makes us less predictable and more difficult to set up against.

Needless to say, these things should be secondary to defensive ability but we're fortunate that Rudiger and Christensen have that too.
