Oscar - Little Diamond

Featured Replies

Are you questioning my spelling, or the fact that i genuinely believe there a million better no 10s?!

I`m gonna guess at both.

I am a big Oscar fan but even I am frustrated with his inconsistency however I would love to see him play next to Matic rather than in the No.10 role.

I can't understand why we haven't tried that, Oscar can tackle.

Some would argue that it is his natural position and he is most dangerous in the attacking third, but to a certain degree you have to consider our other options in that position:

Fabregas- Always thought he preferred playing deeper in order to see the play ahead of him and have that additional time on the ball to pick a pass. He doesnt seem to have the same impact on a game when he is pressed which happens often when you are playing higher up the pitch.

Hazard/Pedro- Both are pacy natural wingers and could have the odd good game behind the striker but have the natural inclination to keep on drifting wide even when playing in the no.10 role, could do a filling role but not a long term solution.

Willian-Best suited too the wing doesnt seem to have the same goal threat as some of the others mentioned from open play. He has somewhat solved our dilemma of the right wing why would we change that anyway?

I actually wouldnt mind bringing in someone like Cavani to play in the No.10 role in order to provide us with some presence in the box and bring in some more goal threat, at present we just do not seem to have enough 10+ goal per season players.

He can put in a tackle, but thats roughly it as far as skills for a CM goes and you take away most of his strengths if you push him that far back. I used to be a big fan of this, but seeing him play deep on occasion I changed my mind. His tactical awereness and passing ability just isnt good enough to be a CM.

Spot on

Didnt stop our Management playing Ramires their more often than not

His general passing was a lot better than normal against Sunderland, but very often he was under little pressure.

When he's under a bit of pressure he has a tendency to quite easily lose possession and his passing also suffers.

Just incapable of stringing two decent games in a row.

Pretty much this, it's been at the back of my head after every game over the past month or so...

so frustrating....

On his day a worldbeater.

bloody frustrating

I'm starting to think Oscar might just be Father Christmas, as he only turns up one day a year.

In past seasons I always thought the sheer volume of games he had played was the reason for his inconsistency. Wasn't this summer basically his first ever summer off?

However no excuses now. You can see what he could be, but there's something not there- the drive and power is just missing.
