Branislav Ivanovic - Your Views?

Featured Replies

He's not been great this season, but he very much a chelsea man, that knows the what it means to represent the club, and that is something I think new players need to have instilled.

We were ruthless with A. Cole, could've used him for a couple more seasons. Why aren't we doing the same with Ivanovic?

The problem I have with that though is despite having been here for 8 years he has shown absolutely no signs of leadership.

Oh the memories ......

Oh the days when Chelsea and Ivan gave us joy. Almost made me feel guilty for grumbling at Ivan... Damn it Brana, what happened?

Ive seen better RBs playing sunday league football than ivan this season....guys been an abdolute disgrace for the club this season....in fact it was Ivans mistake in the first game against swansea that started all this f##king mess to start with....

No you haven't....

No he hasn't

No he didn't.

Such unbelievable hyperbole.

hmm.

I think this is a bad move. JT has more than enough left to get another year but ivanovic is finished as an attacking fullback (and probably as a defensive one in a side with any real attacking intent).

maybe he'll move into the middle.

it is curious that these sort of deals can be made without a permanent manager in place. unless we know who the new man is and he has briefed to this effect.

Fully agree. This is more about the board and the running of the club than it is about a stalwart player who is obviously over the hill and has become a defensive liability.

It is simply madness to offer him a new deal but it is yet another decision of many that shows we are being run by football incompetents.

BI has been a bit of an unsong hero over the years but this year he has been woeful & it is time to go.

Why we want to throw the best part of £6m pa at him is beyond me - a club run by clowns at times.

Ivan is getting better, and we should "ALL" start giving him support instead of slagging him off.

He'll get torn a new ass next weekend. I don't expext much else from this season.

Hes been solid for a while now, so unless you dont see the games its weird for you to say that

Really? Well compared to how he has been playing anything is better. I don't think he was great today, better than normal and solid. But to me Arsenal always looked like a threat when attacking down the left and Walcott was offside so many times. In the second half Arsenal was always getting passed Iva and putting in crosses.

It's pretty obvious his the weak link. Terry for me was better and should be getting a new contract.

Isn't that 3 assists in 3 games now ? Not bad for a guy that can't cross

It's good to see something positive coming from Ivanovic again.

plenty of people across all the websites have said he isnt a good crosser of the ball  with good reason because in general its woeful. when you consider how relied upon it is we need more consistency, not ( in my opinion) hit and hope crosses. If were going to start going in to semantics how many times does an ivanovic cross hit the first defender?

Thought he had a good game yesterday, Arsenal got in behind the defence on our right a couple of times but I didn't feel like it was a weakness as it has done on occasions this season.

He had a good game, left all the fast stuffs to Zouma and Willian to deal with it, put in a good cross for the goal ( more due to bad defending). I still worry about him in the next game, fast direct wing play usually undo him.

I think he's been better than he was for the first 4 months of the season but i wouldn't say he has been solid. Against Everton, Watford, Man United and West Brom he wasn't very good.

Can't believe or understand the abuse this man gets. He's not that fcuking bad.

He is in our top 3 worst players this season.

It's good to see him adding something positive in recent games though. His last 3 assists have come from really good crosses which is great to see, defensively i think he is still struggling though. I think next season we have to go with someone different, we can't risk having a repeat of this season.
