It's the off-season, Mourinho mania is well near boiling point so I just wanted to take the focus away and dedicate a thread to a man who never lets us down.

 

It's not just the saves this guy makes, its the penalties he stops when we insist on giving them away in the big games.

... not to mention his 'day-to-day' saves. People talk about Didier stepping up on the big occasion but this man did just as equally. What about Barcelona last season as well? Yes he may make the odd error but he is by far the least error prone goalkeeper in the Premier League - considering the (intentional) injury he suffered could have ended his career - his character and dedication to get back to level where he is, is truly inspirational.

Totally in agreement Gem. He's immense. He has single-handedly kept us in major competitions with his outstanding saves!

Personally felt that he was our most important player in the CL run last season.

Phenomenal keeper, easily the best in the league (Mancs can jog on by even uttering De Gea's or Hart's name in the same breath as Petr's) and top 2/3 in the world with ease.

 

I hate the narrative so many opposing fans trot out 'he's not as comfortable with crosses etc as he once was' which is flagrant ignorance as, if anything, he's become better than he was pre-injury.

Fantastic keeper, I think he improved on his penalty stopping skills the last couple of years. But I occasionally still pine for Carlo...

BTW I would prefer it if he took off his gloves when handling trophies, but that's probably a sponsorship thing.

One of the all time greats without a doubt, imagine how good he would have been if he had never gotten that injury!

Petr Cech is a king amongst beggars, truly one of the golden men. To have such reliable and consistent quality between the sticks for such a long time has been magnificent, a state made even better by watching Arsenal and co ham around with idiots like Fabianski and Almunia. Virtually every aspect of his game (except his kicking) is world class and he is a class act off the pitch - for me Petr Cech is part of the goalkeeping elite of this generation, up there with Buffon and van der Sar.

Vs Hernandez a couple of months ago and Vs Baros in a Champions league Quarter (?) Final.

 

There was also the string of saves he pulled off in his 1st or 2nd season for us against Barca.

What about the Robbie Keane header in the 0-0? the Santini bus that day was horrible.

Nice gesture Gem, I think too many take him for granted.  I am just so pleased that he has been an integral part of our team and that we have Courtois waiting in teh wings.
