TROLOL.

Germany was no where near the best team. Brazil, Spain, argentina all had as good/better squads. Hell, germany did not even have Midfielders and actually played with Lahm as a DM for the first phase of the World cup.

So now winning WCs and CLs is irrelevant. And yet cesc could not win a CL with Barcelona (while Barcelona won the CL in the previous and the next) is not?

Its also not surprising how far off we have fallen from the european elite, how far arsenal were and also shockingly how far away barca were from winning the CL with cesc. He is a CM who literally cant defend and has no defensive understanding of the game.

Also, "stats". LOL. People should try watching football rather than matching stats and making conculsions off them.

stopped reading after 'Germany was no where near the best team,  :laugh2:  :laugh2:  :laugh2:

Willian in UCL last season: Shots per Game - 2.1, Key Passes - 2.4, Dribbles - 3

Bale in UCL last season: Shots per Game - 3.8, Key Passes - 2.6, Dribbles - 2.8

Same/similar "STATS", right?

So must be that they have a similar style of play and impact, right?

STATS... :laugh2:

oh dear! the whoscored.com merchant is back!  :laugh2:

lets compare both players shall we, Bale like to cut inside on his left foot and shoot, he has one of the best shots in world football a genuine goal threat, nothing like Willian, Bale likes to make runs to the back post and dominate in the air, a genuine Ariel threat, nothing like Willian,  when Bale is in front of goal he will try to score, when Willian is in front of goal he will look for the pass, i cant believe you needed this to be explained to you!  :laugh2: very different players!

Germany had the best team for sure, I had money on them to win that world cup from about a year beforehand, they had a good mix of maturing young players and seasoned veterans, the only area I would say they were lacking was in the striker department. You must be joking about them not having midfielders . . they had the best midfield selection on the planet, bar maybe Spain, and Lahm was played there because of how successful he was there under Guardiola in the preceding season. I don't know how you can think they had no midfield, off the top of my head they had; Schweinsteiger, Kroos, Lahm, Gotze, Muller, Khedira, Ozil and Schurrle. That's a pretty outstanding midfield by any standards. A much better midfield than Brazil or Argentina, and a much better defence than any of the teams you mentioned there, plus they played as an 11 man unit. And didn't they beat the so-called 'better' Brazil team 7-1, and the 'better' Argentina team in the final?

I agree that stats never tell the full story, they have their uses, but didn't someone on here have a stat from a year or two ago that showed Andros Townsend was on par with Ronaldo? :laugh2:

But how many of those were CMs. I should have said CMs rather than mid. They had kroos, tiger (who was injured), I have always felt lhedira is a better Ramires. And finally lahm. They were playing 4cbs as their defense and if not for neuer, would have been eliminated against Algeria.

Leicester won the pl last season or we won the Cl in 2011-12, but surely we were not the best team. Or rather to make myself more clear, not the best squads on paper. English not being my first language I can mix up some things.

Germany definitely were not favorites for the cup.

Not for you, but it's actually funny that the person who is basing that kroos is as poor defensively as cesc or that costa is the best finisher in Pl, simply based on a round of stats is now actually calling me the who's cored merchant. Irony.

I mean actual WTF!!! Also, I am not sure if he got the sarcasm in the Willian vs bale post. Oh well, it's not for everyone.

But they were favourites in all the bookies I looked at, otherwise I'd have won way more money  :laugh2:

Yes, were you not the one who tried to use whoscored.com bad touch stat to suggest Lukaku's touch isnt that bad?

I'm not sure those stats are worth anything

Along with the manager, the style of play, hazard's form (which is essential to our attack).

But to achieve that win Conte has left Fab on the bench, he obviously thought he was not needed, even though he scored two goals against WH in the same fixture last season.

lol i think we are jumping the gun here, sure he was dropped, but it's only the first game of the season, against relatively strong West Ham

and also i don't get the idea that just because he's weak defensively, he needs to go. why's the obsession with defensive style?

Fair enough. Also Oscar was decent on the day. Simply said, I dont trust Oscar one bit. By November he will be back to his sh*ttiest best costing us a place in the team.

Tbf Kroos is average defensively, that's why Casemiro has to baby sit him during games now.

exactly, Kroos' lack of ability defensively has forced RM to bring in Casemiro and play 4-3-3 which has pretty much ruined James and Isco's Real Madrid careers. If Kroos was as amazing defensively as someone on here said James in particular would still have a space in their team.

Mate, Was Lampard average defensively?

We baby sat Lampard with Makelele and Essien?

Playing Casemiro as a DM in a team which has 3 forwards like CR, benz, Bale who barely ever come behind the half way line, is not an indicator of Kroos' defensive Prowess.

Also the point (more than kroos' defensive prowess), is about the comparision between kroos and cesc's defensive abilities. And they are nowhere near similar. Cesc is not even "average" defensively for a CM. Kroos is "disciplined". Tracking runners, making the niggly foul, getting the ball back by pressing (a massive part of his defensive work). Compare all of these characteristics to cesc's. This was the initial laughable comparision by a genius on here

God what's with al the f**king arguments round here going round in circles. It gets to a point where you just have to agree to disagree.

I agree, i'm tired of reading through threads that is full of people trying to one-up each other.
