July 23, 20205 yr Aaaaand back to normality. Hopefully that'll convince the board not to offer the three years.
July 24, 20205 yr Saw on twitter he's not scored a goal from open play since the restart, 4 penalties and 2 freekicks. Is this true?

I could be wrong but I thought he has only scored 4 since the restart. 3 pens city West Ham, Watford and 1 free kick against West Ham. Takes him till 9 for the season his most productive season

July 27, 20205 yr Rumours he has signed a new 2 year deal. I think it makes sense. It saves us having to spend money on another winger, and if he doesnt play much next season, we can always move him on and get a decent fee. He is great trainer, and a popular guy in the dressing room aswell, as long as keeps the work ethic high, i think he has something offer on and off the pitch. Financially, paying willians wages for another season, rather than signing a replacement, should free up £20m + to strengthen defemce and goalkeeper.
July 27, 20205 yr Hope its true. Don't care what anyone says, he's still a vital part of our squad. And we need competition and depth going into next season.

Reasonable i guess. cant see him getting too much gametime though. ziyech and cho clear. i guess its better than him leaving on a free though, can probably sell him next summer

Benrahma is probably the other option, but i would rather spend the money on the defence, than sign a back up winger.

That Galactico ego of his is part of the package that people continually discount when they say "good squad player' and "experience". If Chelsea puts him on a 2 year extension, here's to hoping it's another £10M autograph like it was with Luiz.
July 27, 20205 yr If Havertz joins, I don't see the need for Willian to stay. He's a good player still, but I think the wing positions would be well covered with Pulisic, Ziyech and CHO and Werner, Havertz, Mount and RLC being very capable of filling in there. Especially considering that with Giroud and Abraham we have good options for our number 9 position and with Havertz, RLC, Mount, Kovaciv and Gilmour we're well covered in midfield. Hence Werner or Havertz playing on the wing, wouldn't leave a big hole in their natural position. Also Willian staying would block CHO.

I would definitely prefer to have Benrahma over Willian but not sure how likely that is. But yeah I do agree, would rather spend first on getting Tagliafico and a GK, CB on top of that.

I do still see the advantage of having an experienced player in our squad next season, with the majority still very young or new to the Premier League. It may also be better to sort of stagger replacement, we get 1 or 2 seasons from Willian (although perhaps not first or even second choice) and get in a replacement for him, with a better idea what we need to improve our squad.
July 27, 20205 yr Apparently a breakthrough in agreement with Willian, but with Ziyech signed, would Willian be happy as probably only a squad player, and CHO might be pushing him for that..

I think Willians professional happiness is second to his wife’s desire to stay in London
July 27, 20205 yr I think an issue here is he seems to want to stay in London. If we don't sign him we could be strengthening Spuds or Le Arse.
