See the edited post, my bad.

I looked and Sanchez has played 27 games this season, defiantly not as many in the cup competitions. Like I said stats are misleading, just need to look at the standard of the opposition. Batman scored 12 goals before he left in not many minutes.

But some would say it could be the other way around, it's a team sport, and those players are playing in worse teams, so put them in better teams and they will in time improve their own stats.

It doesnt take into account who they were playing against, the relative strength of those teams they played against (did they have loads of injuries/bans etc), match day conditions, whether they had played another game 2 days ago, or not played for 3 weeks, were coming back from injury, wife had stopped having sex with them, supermarket had ran out of their favourite cakes etc.....stats are a nice indicator but for such a random sequence of events should never be held up as the be all....

Agree, like i said, team game, Gary Neville has amazing defensive stats, but in reality did very little defending because he was always in attacking teams with lots of possession.

But you don't seem to understand that stats are perfect in every case when they confirm your own bias, and are totally a waste of trousers when they don't conform to your own prejudices.

And obviously, everything is either black or white, there are no grey areas.

So some guys are saying bats is only scoring because of the league, so if that's the cases these guy's are performing because of the poor league right? Can't be one way for one player but another for another player you want. Can't have your cake and eat it.

In those cases the best defenders always look the best because they won't lose concentration when replied upon, just need to look at Walker last night. If Arsenal win the Europa league it would take a numpty to say they had a good season as it just papers over the cracks. If you just look at stats without going into greater detail then we can make nearly anything look good, Batman would look one of Europes deadliest forwards but we all know his overall game wasnt great if anyone watched the games.

Nice timing, make sure you're around for the second leg Ernie !

I was so dam close at putting that 20/1 outside the box goal bet on aswell  I reckon plenty of Chelsea fans did.

I was going to put a bet on Alonso when we got that free kick, but he took it too quick and saved me a £1. :laugh2:

Willian was excellent tonight and he has a cracking shot. I have to get a but in though, he should have played that ball to Kante and that is where he has always frustrated me, those last passes, crosses or ballls.

Not perfect but still an amazing performance, at the right time.

I can say this with no fear of contradicting myself, on his day he is up there with Hazard.
On his Day he's unplayable, he's reaching arguably his best years now, if he continues this form consistently he will be classed as one of our Greats

I agree, it's just a shame he has never been consistent. It must be a mental thing. When he plays without thinking too much, he is brilliant, but when he has time to think (like the pass he should have played to Kante before Barcelona's goal) he get's it wrong. It's no surprise that the best of Willian comes from instinctive moments.

I bet he would score more consistently if he played in Hazards position left forward, the same position Morata likes, it opens up the goal for their preferred right foot, you could even put Hazard on the right, he has a pretty good left foot.

I am trying to recall if Willian has ever scored using his left foot .  He must have, but I cant recall.  He clearly can dribble equally well with both feet,
