Willian

What has he got to do to appease you Willy-whiners?  Two penalties won, two goals scored, overall opinion was a MOTM performance and still you bitch.

I'm not sure you have any comprehension of what an "average performance" actually is, or you are blinded by some sort of bigotry or dislike of the player.

Everybody was in second gear yesterday, at one point BT were surprised that Qarabag had 51% possession, I wasn't surprised because they were first to a lot of second balls, they wanted it more yet he pasted them with training level intensity.

Not saying that Willian is having his best season but you can't judge him poorly based on yesterday.

Many people (not saying you) said Charly's performance against Forest can't be used to big him up as it was against a Championship side. If that is the case, Willian's performance against a side ranked lower than Maribor with 10 men on the pitch can't be used to shine light on him.

Regardless of that fact, i thought he looked very hesitant throughout the game. Probably more to do with not having regular minutes than anything else. I imagine he'll be sold and upgraded on within the year. No room for sentiment in football, if you want to be the best you have to have the best players possible.

couple things frustrate me with him, and that's his decision making in the final third. he could make a pass sooner, and also dribbling unnecessarily for too long and then getting dispossessed. apart from those parts of his game, he is usually very reliable and showed yesterday he is good at scoring goals given time and space to do so. would definitely not want us to sell him, but if we did then we would need an upgrade and not selling him to a rival.

I'd say he was alright. Better than his recent showings.

It's a pity that we can't give everyone decent game time because at the moment we have decent competition for most positions bar WBs and GK.

Love the guy, fantastic player, we need him back to his best. He's an impact player and he wins this club a lot of points, I would be gutted if we sold him to our rivals, or even sold him at all for that matter.

Conte seriously needs to consider playing Willian as RWB especially in the absence of Moses and mostly against weaker opposition purely looking to shut up shop. Not completely sold on Zappacosta as yet maybe needs some time to adjust to the league and the demands of a wingback.

Been saying this for nearly a year. I also think he would be good in a midfield 3.

Willian at RWB is just a no

Even if he didn't mean the goal it doesn't bother me, the guy kept going forward and forward, I love it when he's ambitious and likes to prove a point, he's unplayable. That's the Willian we like to see, that's the Willian who we need.

I don’t think I have ever seen Willian as unplayable.

He's been one of our best players for the last 3 years, I have no idea why he gets so much hate and negativity. I mean don't get me wrong he's had some awful games, the City game this season for example.

But all in all, he's been top notch, look at his record and the points he's won us.

I have rarely seen Willian as unplayable, maybe once every now and then he has a good game but then every player does that. Willian has not been one of Chelsea’s best players in the last 3 years, it’s not hate but his just a good squad player.

He's very inconsistant some games he can be absolutely brilliant as others have said unplayable at times. One thing that really pisses me off is the standing still letting the defence get back into position rather than being more direct like Eden for example.

Wasn't he player of the season in 2016?

I think it's been tough for Willian, he went from poty, to warming the bench in a short space of time, while at the same time dealing with the awful loss of his mother.

I think his confidence has taken a hit, and he doesn't feel important anymore.

He is quality when he is on it, but under conte, he has never really been a regular, so Its hard for him to find rhythm.

He has had some terrible games this season, but he has had some decent cameo's since the Watford game, id love to see him given a run im the team, even as one the 3 centre midfielders.

We've seen with bakayoko and drinkwater, that opportunities seem to drop to midfield runners with this 352 system, and I think Willian would have more chance of getting on the scoresheet than those 2.

Not really much of an achievement. He scored a few free kicks and had a couple of good matches, he was ok and the rest sh*t. Still never really set the world a light. He scores one and his the best player ever then we won't see him again for a while.

No we aren't allowed to say this on this forum. We have to give Willian the De Bruyne/Salah/RLC treatment that if he doesn't perform in a 10 minute cameo then he isn't good enough for the club. A player isn't allowed a run of games to prove they're good enough at Chelsea.

Something I find quite interesting is that the match-going fans, and especially the travelling support, sing his song as soon as he starts warming up, and at matches most people are very supportive.

Those of us who watch on the telly, or a stream, appear, for the most part, to be more critical of Willian than those of us who go to games.

Not saying either is right, not that Willian hasn't had some cack performances this season, but there is a dichotomy between fans' views depending on how they actually watch his performances. AND, I'm not saying that there aren't groans of frustration in the stands when he bollocks up a pass or a dribble, but then there are for every player when they cock up.

I think Chelsea fans in general tend to be quite patient and supportive at games from my experience, apart from Rafa i can't ever recall anyone getting turned on early into their Chelsea career's. The support Torres got through his career here and what Jose got in those fateful months was remarkable and no way in hell would any other Big club go to the same lengths, could you imagine United fans supporting even Fergie if he had them fighting relegation?
