January 9, 201610 yr It's an interesting topic if you want to discuss a civil war and our governments love for oil over human life, but we should probably keep it football related.
January 9, 201610 yr He will play tomorrow, or? Not played much ths season so i would assume he is a starter.
January 10, 201610 yr maybe guss is good for him, i think i remember that he also got malouda playing well Edited January 10, 201610 yr by luckywerthers
January 17, 201610 yr Mikel is probably the only one that has the discipline and positional awareness to play in the DM role. On his day, Matic could be dominating, but he has made too many mistakes this season, and not covering for his team mates when the counter is on. Has Mikel scored this season yet? What's the odds he will beat Hazard to the next goal? I would have him in ahead of Matic still at present and would like to see RLC starting alongside him. But although he remains a good squad player, I think yesterday reminded us why he isn't the solution long-term. Everton continually exposed him and went past him and looking at the replays, he was just as culpable for that third Everton goal as Ivan and Zouma. The guy who scored was the one Mikel was picking up and he lost him not just once but twice!! Edited January 17, 201610 yr by Nibs
January 24, 201610 yr Mikel is a good player. Nothing more nothing less. Our midfield has a presence.
January 24, 201610 yr He took one for the team today. Hmmm, you mean he f**ked up and then made amends! Glad Sanchez didn't play the whole game today - Mikel & Matic would have struggled big-time.
January 24, 201610 yr Mikel did well, he plays it safe and simple and doesn't run around like a headless chicken.

I thought he played Sanchez really well the few times he got 1 on 1 with him, moved him onto his "wrong" foot and into positions we could defend.
January 24, 201610 yr Sadly a lot of fans like Nibs under rate Mikel, but he wouldn't have lasted that long ( he's been a good reliable loyal guy who does the simple things with no big ego for 10 years plus ) at Chelsea even if he wasn't any good!

I've always said he is a decent squad player. I give him credit whenever he plays well and today he did okay, but still switched off on a few occasions which on another day could have cost us.
January 24, 201610 yr I don't think it's a coincidence that fabregas has found some form since Mikel came back into the team.
January 24, 201610 yr I don't think it's a coincidence that fabregas has found some form since Mikel came back into the team. Mikel has looked better than Matic. Having said that would have anyone looked worse?
January 24, 201610 yr I don't think it's a coincidence that fabregas has found some form since Mikel came back into the team. Or since Mourinho left ;)
January 24, 201610 yr Mikel has looked better than Matic. Having said that would have anyone looked worse? Think Matic and Mikel were pretty equal today in performance.
January 25, 201610 yr Think Matic and Mikel were pretty equal today in performance. not even close. matic never knew what to do with the ball.
January 25, 201610 yr and mikel does lol Well Ramsey believes Mikel knows what to do w/ the ball - Mikel totally broke Ramsey's ankles w/ two touches on the ball
January 25, 201610 yr and mikel does lol Bit harsh, he's been good since he's come back in to the team and yes he does know what he's doing with the ball, as you don't see him give it away often. I think the man deserves a rest from the barrage of abuse that he usually receives, quite often for no reason at all. Edited January 25, 201610 yr by Floyd25
January 25, 201610 yr Well Ramsey believes Mikel knows what to do w/ the ball - Mikel totally broke Ramsey's ankles w/ two touches on the ball What's that to do with what Ramsay believes. Matic done exactly the same as Mikel, pass it left and pass it right. Mikel is looked at as a God and Matic is playing crap.

I think the man deserves a rest from the barrage of abuse that he usually receives, quite often for no reason at all. He has been ok, had a good game against palace then this thread didn't get a message till today. I guess I worded it wrong, Mikel does know what to do with the ball, pass it left or right or give it away. Don't get me wrong that's his job but Matic done the same thing against Arsenal.

I was actually trying to be funny. There was a play were Mikel made Ramsey twist his ankles & fall. I guess you didn't see the play or think that what I was posting was funny. NM mate, go on be grumpy. No harm no foul. I am not Diego Costa.
January 25, 201610 yr Thought Mikel was much better than Matic yesterday personally. Mikel generally retained possession when he had it whereas I felt that Matic was quite sloppy at times and seemed rushed/panicked when in possession when, especially towards the end of the game, we really needed to keep hold of the ball.
