Sadly I don't think he'll sign the contract, the tribute at the POTY awards and today's speech (stopping short of saying he'll stay) was confirmation for me.

I think most fans are reading too much into him saying "he wants to stay and the club know that, too"  This is news every man and his dog already knew.  It is nothing new whatsoever.   

 

Taking a step back and looking at everything from his POTY reaction, programme notes for today, his Instagram about a 'slightly different role', his post match speech and the squad lifting him in the air it screams of JT leaving.

 

Think about it, that was the absolute perfect moment, during the "we want you to stay" chants, to turn round and say "I will be here next year" ... he didnt.

 

I am gutted, it is looking bad

Come to think of it, weird how Castles wouldn't tweet the info before JT's speech and instead did it right after it.  Suspicious that he is lying now, and that is why he started his tweet with "Unconfirmed, but...."

Thought it was pretty obvious from his speech, the players reaction (or should I say lack of, if he was leaving it would be serious looks around) and Roman's cheerful expression that he was staying.

I think he is staying. I think he will be part player / part coaching staff like Ryan Giggs in his final year. Maybe in 5 - 7 years we may see him being coach like Zidane.

Great outcome if true. No matter what happens, his playing days are clearly numbered, and this would give him a smooth transition to the next phase of his career. Would be good for him in the long run even if he doesn't see it that way now.

Also just because he was kicking a ball with the kid doesn't mean he wasn't listening, maybe the kid was crying or something and he was trying to keep the kid happy.
