The John Terry Appreciation Thread

Featured Replies

well if we don't bring in significant reinforcements for midfield and defence, terry staying isn't going to help going into next season, with or without his leadership.

I have no idea if he is staying or not. He was emotional which suggests he is leaving, but Roman's face grinning away suggests he's staying. If not then it was a rather inappropriate look from him when a club legend is getting his final moments with the fans

It's almost a game between JT and the club right now. The club have made him an offer which they probably think isn't enough to persuade him to stay meaning he will reject it. They can then say he had an offer but decided to leave. Not our fault fans.

JT came back with the in field speech yesterday putting the ball back in the club's court. Tells the fans he wants to stay, they want him to stay, 'we all want the same thing' - but there are discussions to be had. Those discussions clearky on the terms. So now it's the club's fault if he doesn't stay.

The club are far from convinced they want him to stay as if they were we wouldn't have got to this very late stage. Conte will,of course, have played a role in this. Whether his role is the one that has persuaded the late offer or whether it is the one that created the reduced offer we may find out in JT's autobiography one-day.

Conte will know who we need to bring in and JT will be there to lead them.Still one of the best CBs in the prem imo.

true, but he could age overnight or get a sustained injury going into next season and then we'll be at a loss. hopefully these don't happen, but he's not getting any younger.

I think in the end they'll get it over the line, but both parties will have to be willing to negotiate a bit more.

China will still pay stupid money for Terry next year if he has motivation for that.

I think he'll sign. If he was that unhappy with the offer and there was no margin to improve it, he would have said he was leaving. "Futher discussions" suggests in the right ball park.

Thought it was quite telling yesterday that most in the Shed and MH stayed to listen to JT but the vast majority of West Stand had already left.

With our success in recent years, we're always going to attract the wrong sort of fans, the type that don't have the passion others do, add to that the mass of tourists who come to the Bridge now.

The tourist sitting next to me (in MHL) had a disturbing habit of blowing (not just wiping) his nose on his half-and-half scarf.  Weirdo.

Disgusting!!!  Maybe that's all half and half scarves are good for!  Did you notice which half he blew on?

Capital Punishment!!  He should have his nose chopped off!

Moi - think about it, they were both blue!

I didn't notice which blue end he used.  Maybe both.

Is there any indication this is a "take it or leave it" offer rather than an intentionally low offer given with the expectation that the other side will negotiate it upward?

60k a week and back up a role. At somepoint, JT has to allow the club to move forward and progress. He's still a good defender but the truth is, we need his leadership skills more than his playing abilities.

JT, like Giggs, Scholes etc - time comes for all of them. Both the club and JT need to manage the transition carefully and considerately.
