Bitter are we Arjen Robben?

Featured Replies

yeah his comments are foolish, but quality player and as for bottler? won cl for Bayern last season and despite pep's bs, is consistently their best player (when not injured of course!)

Well as a neural I wouldn't really enjoy our game v Atletico last week but you have to be prepared for games like that.

Did he know we were missing our best player and best striker? Or that we lost our best GK and best Defender in the game?

Unlike Bayern we at Chelsea have a plan B and C which sees us come through the toughest of games as winners, now you can say it's not free flowing attacking football but what does that get you? Knocked out like Barca or pumped by Real?

Jose is a proper tactician and he is not as arrogant as Pep who tried to win with his 'Barca formula' that's about 3 years past it's sell by date.

Be bitter all you like Robben, like me you too know the reason you lost was your manager is a arrogant man and is not on the same level as Jose Mourinho.

He came to us, played well when not injured, we doubled our money for him. Id like to have seen hims tay but he wanted the bright lights of Madrid... Who then spat him out as they do half there players, because they see shinier baubles along the way. Well done Arjen.

We certainly have missed someone like him over the years, certainly Duff, SWP were not half the player he has been but hes always been a moody diving toe rag.

missed some big penalties in the last 3 years

On the one hand his team had just been thrashed and embarrassed in their own back yard, and then the sky bloke asks an inane question about who will be in the final, a final he (Robben)is going to miss out on, its easy to see why you would be less then gracious, at that moment.

On the other hand, as brilliant as he was at times for us, he was an irritating little diver who lost his bottle after being scythed down at Blackburn, refused to play until he deemed himself ready and looks like he a troll from a Fairy tale.

The irony! He was playing in a team last night that were 3-0 down at home and made no effort at all to score. You really think we would give up and play possession football if we were 3-0 down at the bridge - no f**king chance! They're supposed to be big bad Bayern; where were they last night?  :face_palm:

Was an incredible player for us, who remembers his debut ?  blimey, Stamford Bridge went quiet while every one moved to the edge fo the seat and rubbed thier eyes.

Shame he only managed half an hour a season

I think it was against everton. I was at it sat in the Mhl pissed drunk I was.

Wow. Never ceases to amaze me how revisionist people can be.

He was one of the best players we have seen at the Bridge. He was capable of turning a game singlehandedly.

Since he left us he has had continued success.

Granted, his injury record counts against him, otherwise he's been one of the  best players in the world for the last ten years.

I don't hold a grudge on the basis of one interview straight after a defeat.

Well remembered, was trying to think it was Everton or Blackburn where my choices.... you were right it was a miserable day peeing down.

Yeah horrible day I travelled over with no acomadation get ripped in a sh*tty guest house in earls court. Great goal by robben

He was superb for us, but he was always a stroppy twat. Never felt like he bought into the Chelsea team spirit, he was always likely to spit out his dummy and walk out at some point.

Spot on ethical, great player, would easily make it into any Abramovich era Chelsea Best XI.

However, I agree with the point some are making about the snobbery as if defence isn't a part of football. Hopefully last night and the decline of Barca will be the end of tiki taka as the dominant thought in how to win football matches. Possession without purpose is how Gary Neville described it last night, and that is pretty spot on.

Pep interestingly said that they didn't win because they didn't have enough of the ball. I got a laugh at that. They didn't win because they prioritise defenders who can pass over those who can mark at set pieces, and because when they had the ball they prioritised keeping it over putting it in the opposition goal.
