Schurrle for 18.7m - 7/10 - not bad, has had good form in patches. Inconsistent, but needs more playing time.

Schwarzer for free - 6/10 - solid, he's done his best in the circumstances, better than Turnbull.

Willian for 30m- 8/10 - unbelievable workrate and a consistent performer, needs to add more goals/assists next year.

Eto'o for 2m - 7/10 - better than Torres & Ba, crucial goals as well. Liverpool home among them.

 

Matic for 21m - 9/10 - settled in instantly with a mammoth performance at Citeh. Look far more solid with him in the team. Needs a playmaker next to him next season.

Salah for 11m - 6/10 - shown glimpses of what he can do, not had many minutes, next season is huge for him.

Schurrle for 18.7m - 8/10
First season with us and he's shown some good signs. Needs to work on a few aspects of his game but he's got a solid chance of coming very good.

 

Schwarzer for free - 7/10

Costly mistake against Sunderland aside Mark has been solid when required. Survived a baptism of fire against Atletico Madrid and deserves his retirement after this World Cup.

 

Willian for 30m- 6/10

Solid running and has the right work ethic. I cannot fault him for trying but his end-product seriously needs working on over the summer. Maybe some of his Brazilian compatriots like Hulk or Neymar can teach him a thing or two about shooting properly. Not entirely worth his price tag at the moment but we'll see after next season.

 

Eto'o for 2m - 7/10

Probably our most savvy signing of the year. Got him for peanuts and he's easily been the best of our attacking options. He scraped off the rust for his old boss Mourinho but the gears just aren't what they used to be. Being beset by injuries has hindered his season but I'd say overall he's been worth it. Kudos Samuel.

 

Matic for 21m - 10/10

Without a shadow of a doubt our best signing of this season, and he came in freaking January. We've found our answer to Yaya Toure. Colossal, imposing, immense, and an absolute menace in the center of the park - Matic has been the real deal and arguably the main cause behind our successes against the Premier League's best.

 

Salah for 11m - 7/10
A few glimmers of potential have shone through with Salah but I'm still not entirely sold on him. He made it very apparent very quickly why he earned his name "The Rocket". Unbelievably fast and capable of leaving defenders for dead like we saw against Arsenal but he still needs to bed into the Premier League. Much like Willian... Watch this space next season.

Schurrle 7/10 Inconsistent but gives us something different, good finisher and for his first season not bad and he hasn't got many chances to play on his fav left wing position.

 

Schwarzer 6/10 Not played much but when he has he's done a good job

 

Willian 7/10 Great work rate and energy, defensively very good but we need more goals and just in general more end product. I like him though should use his pace more.

 

Eto'o 6/10 Only a stop gap signing but he was still for me our best striker, only really played the home games and did well in most of them always felt more confident when he played upfront instead of the other 2.

 

Matic 8/10 We needed this player badly and has made a huge difference to our team. His performances have been excellent. Gives us power,strength, forward passes, aerial ability and tackling breaking up play, makes our team/squad more balanced.

 

Salah 6/10 Started well but the last few games he's been quiet. Still not sure on this guy but he is still young and only came from the Swiss league and we need to give him more time to adapt. Mourinho said we will see the best of him next season.

Schurrle for 18.7m - 8/10 (Has had some very productive games and is really the only player outside of Hazard who has been able to create his own scoring chances)

Schwarzer for free - 8/10 (Played in some big matches at the end, including a clean sheet against Liverpool)

Willian for 30m- 6/10 (Incredibly inconsistent, one match he looks pacey and incredible, others he makes terrible passes and loses the ball way too easily)

Eto'o for 2m - 7.5/10 (He has been our only real option at striker, but injuries haven't allowed him to contribute consistently)

 

Matic for 21m - 9/10 (In less than 4 months he has solidified the midfield defensively.  He does have some bad stretches during matches where he loses the ball too easily or makes poor passes)

Salah for 11m - 7/10 (His speed is incredible, and he has the talent to produce offensively, he hasn't had many opportunities and he doesn't have the best finishing technique...To be continued)

 Schurrle for 18.7m - 6/10 - scored some goals and looks direct. Ok for first season but big improvement needed he was a good bit of money.

Schwarzer for free - 6/10 - done what was needed for a backup

Willian for 30m- 5/10 - good defensive work but attacking wise he's been a huge waste of money

Eto'o for 2m - 7/10 - scored important goals and at the bridge is our best option up top, sadly a few years too late.

 

Matic for 21m - 7/10 - good player who will improve, needs a genuine midfield partner to really shine though.

Salah for 11m - 5/10 - bit hot and cold but not seen much of him, not sure he's good enough but time will tell.

Schurrle 8/10 - I really like this guy, he offers something a bit different from the rest and his shot is unbelievable. Expect big things from him and settled in pretty quick.

Schwarzer 7/10 - After a couple of shaky games his true form has shone through, and for a free transfer as well! Great business from the club.

Willian 8/10 - My opinion may differ from the rest, but I feel Willian's season so far has been tremendous. Yes, he has the occasional bad game, but performances such as v PSG show just how much of a team player he is

Eto'o 7/10 - Showed quite a bit of quality this season, especially in that goal v arsenal. I expected a little more, but for his age you can't expect a lot. Just wish he didn't get injured!

 

Matic 9/10 - Same as everyone else really, fantastic addition, would be 10 if he hadn't have dropped off slightly. But that game v Man City... Jesus, you don't get much better than that!

Salah 6.5/10 - This kid has real potential. He has the pace and skill, it's just the final third he needs to work on (final ball). He'll get there!

Schurrle 8/10 - He's not as flashy as say Hazard/Willian but he is a great player has a belter of a shot on him and can only get better being so young.

Schwarzer 7/10 - Solid better than previous backups we have had.

Willian 8.5/10 - Eyebrows were raised when we signed this guy for so much, but what a signing he has turned out to be! Works so hard for the team and is comfortable in possession just needs to work on his end product a bit more and what a player he can be!

Eto'o 7/10 - Showed moments of class, wasn't a bad stop gap for the season & scored some important goals.

Matic 9/10 - Fantastic signing, wasn't too sure about resigning him at first but wow he has proved me wrong! he has come along immensley since he was allowed to leave and has come back a truely world class midfielder. Would love to see another great center mid in there with him which could make an unstoppable partnership in the middle.

Salah 6/10 - Dissapointed me the most, I know we haven't seen much of him and the talent/potential is clearly there but at the moment he doesn't seem very effective needs a good pre season with the lads and improve on his shooting!!!!!

Schwarzer for free - 6/10 - Apart from the howler against Sunderland, did okay.

Willian for 30m- 7/10 - Not what I expected. Thought we were getting a silky goal-scoring winger. Got a workhorse instead. 

Eto'o for 2m - 5/10 - A questionable buy, despite the goals.

 
Matic for 21m - 6/10 - Promising start but form has tapered off. See how he goes with a proper partner alongside.

Salah for 11m - 3/10 - Panic buy. Looks out of his depth.

Schurrle 6.5/10 - Good finisher, glad he has had a chance after a slowish start to his Chelsea career. A decent first season, i hope improves a bit on the creative side though.

 

Schwarzer 8/10 - Reliable back up to Cech, he's been good when asked to play.

 

Willian 5/10 - A few good goals, works hard, tracks back well and has good touch, but overall for an attacking player he hasn't done enough. Too many misplaced passes when going forward, poor finishing and lacks creativity. I think i remember 2 or 3 through balls from him that has opened up a defence this season. Not worth the money and i would rather we went with someone else next season.

 

Eto'o 6.5/10 - Done ok with poor service but many times this season he has looked off his game. Age is now creeping up on Eto'o

 

Matic 7/10 - Been good, especially his tackling but i think he can do more. He does seem a bit casual at times and does tend to lose the ball but once he fully get's used to the league he will be great i think.

 

Salah 4/10 - Barely played at first and now that he has been given a chance he looks so-so. Very quick but against stubborn defences his speed isn't going to do much. I still don't know what he offers the team yet. Needs a full season before i can judge him properly.

Schurrle - 7 and improving. Good signing. Will be in bigger role next season.

Schwarzer - 8 great backup.

Willian - 7 will get better but needs to be more decisive going in the box. Workrate 10/10.

Eto'o - 8 great signing! Brilliant football person and good at SB. Away performances need to be better so I hope he stays.

Matic 9 - our best signing. Will be world class next season.

Salah 6 - no idea will he be good or not.

Salah for 11m - 6/10 ... good potential ... like him.

Schurrle for 18.7m - 7/10 - Probably our 2nd best attacking player behind Hazard, but needs to work on his dribbling skills, he usually just runs straight at the man and loses it
Schwarzer for free - 8/10 - Can'#t really fault him for anything
Willian for 30m- 4/10 - Runs around alot, but then again we could sign someone from League 2 to do that. His passing and finishing leave a LOT to be desired, especially for £30m.
Eto'o for 2m - 7/10 - Good in home games. Pretty rubbish everywhere else. Best of a poor trio though.

Matic for 21m - 7.5/10 - Upgrade on Mikel/Luiz. Has struggled in the games against the weaker sides, with everything being so narrow and few passing options available, but the whole team has struggled in those games.
Salah for 11m - 6/10 - Looks like a Willian clone basically. Very fast, works hard, lacking in end product. Looks like this is the way Jose wants us to go, which is worrying.

The thing with Salah is, he was clearly a reactionary buy after losing De Bruyne. So we spent another xyz million, but is he really any better than say Thorgan Hazard or Piazon, etc... ? Faster, yes. Better technically? Doubtful. But we never give the youth a chance, just spend spend spend/.

Matic for 21m - 10/10

Phenomenal player, exactly what we had been crying out for in midfield and he has slotted in perfectly. He immediately shook off the stigma of his price tag (and the fact that he played for us before) by playing Yaya Touré off the park in his first league start. He has been better than Essien in his first season, he is defensively ingenious, aggressive and moves the ball forward quicker than Mikel. Matic is showing all the signs of becoming one of Europe's top defensive midfielders - in ten years' time we could be discussing his legend. Clearly he is one half of the perfect centre midfield partnership, but he needs someone next to him to pull the strings passing-wise.

 

Willian for 30m - 8/10

I'm not entirely sure what to say about Willian, he's an odd player. Apparently equally comfortable at no.10 or on the right, he is one of the hardest-working attacking midfielders I've ever seen, and with more pace, energy and urgency than Anelka and Malouda put together. He is also capable of the utterly sublime, both in passing and finishing, but is so woefully inconsistent in both that at times he comes across as a Park Ji-Sung type, despite the fact that he actually has a brilliant attacking mind. Despite this, he has a tendency to go for the safe option in his passing - I don't know if this is his natural style, a lack of confidence or his natural direct style of play being coached out of him - I truly hope it's not the latter as he is capable of sheer brilliance. At one point yesterday he found Ba in the box through about six players and I could have sworn he wasn't even looking.

I think people have been deceived by his goals against us last season, he's never been much of a goalscorer, although when he does hit the back of the net it tends to be spectacular. Willian is rarely ever bad, even if his occasional bluntness going forward does nothing to help a team already lacking in creativity. I think people have been entirely unfair on him all season, whether due to his price tag or needing someone on whom to take out their anger over Mata's departure, but I think he's been very important for us this season - interestingly the MOTM tallies suggest that he has been one of our very best players.

I think Willian has a staggering amount of potential (especially considering who is now coaching him), and better players on paper have had far worse first seasons in the Premier League (e.g. Ozil). If he could just improve on his passing he could be devastating for us in the not-too-distant future. I look forward to seeing more of him - he could well return next season with a World Cup medal.

 

Eto'o for 2m - 7.5/10

Came a little out of the blue and despite some initial raised eyebrows after a slow start, he proved to still be a capable centre forward. While he doesn't really still have the consistency or physical stamina to lead the line for a team competing on so many fronts, he has scored excellent and memorable goals for us this season, the highlight obviously being the hat trick against Man Utd. The intelligence in his performances as well as a good understanding with Hazard and Willian made him the clear standout of our centre forward options; it's a real shame he got injured against Arsenal as he was on a run of truly blinding form and might have earned a higher rating had he been allowed to continue it. Good signing, I will look back on the old geezer's year with us fondly.

 

Schurrle for 18.7m - 7/10
Looks like a very good, hard-working player, albeit a patchy one, although that is hardly a rarity in a winger. At the beginning of the season he was clearly lacking technically and his final ball was often disappointing, however he has clearly improved himself in both regards, which is a very good sign. Apparently most of his goals for us have come while playing on the right; considering the trouble we have had filling that position with a natural fit, Schurrle could well become a very important player for us.

 

Schwarzer for free - 7/10

Before Cech's injury it seemed like he might be having a quiet season, but other than a bad performance against Sunderland he has filled in admirably, in particular (of course) the heart-in-mouth first leg against Atletico. He has always been a very good keeper, and it's hard to think of a better (or more experienced...) player we could have acquired to fill the #2 shirt; he has proven that he still has what it takes to play at (or near) the top. It's a shame we won't be seeing him at the World Cup although I suppose after the end-of-season drama he must be exhausted!

 

Salah for 11m - 6/10
Haven't seen a huge amount of him but admittedly at first I was asking myself what he offered that Schurrle didn't. I found my answer - his acceleration is incredible and his agility and ability to weave through tight spaces is second in the squad only to Hazard. Considering the problems we have had breaking down packed defences (although he hasn't had much luck as of yet), the 'Egyptian Messi' could be exactly what we need. Hope to see some improvement next season (particularly the final ball) - he could be a dangerous player.

Schurrle -  6/10     A decent hard working player who has had a good first season in England but has a habit of fading in games, and needs to work on his end product a little bit. An ideal impact sub for me in certain games.

 

Schwarzer - 8/10    A reliable back up keeper who's distribution is even better than Cech's imo. Whilst he made an error against Sunderland, I actually put more blame on the outfield players for leaving Alonso totally unmarked on the edge of the penalty area. A very good signing.

 

Willian - 8/10     I like him a lot, but he frustrates the hell out of me. His end product should be a lot better for someone of his quality and seems to have too many "lazy" moments when he mucks up simple 5 yard passes. I think he would be more effective playing deeper in midfield, but ideally Jose gets a better "Modric" type player instead. His workrate is great, he is very fast, and is a good footballer, so for me is a big improvement on Ramires.

 

Eto'o - 7/10      A decent signing for a year, after we stupidly wasted the whole summer going after Rooney. We should be looking elsewhere for next season if we want to properly challenge for trophies next season. I also struggle to get past the fact he didn't score any goals away from home in the whole season.

 

Matic - 9/10     A serious upgrade on Mikel. A very good signing and something we badly needed in midfield. He needs a energetic ball player next him now. Over to you Jose...

 

Salah 6/10      A new league, a new country and much better opposition so he'll need time to settle. Next season will tell us more about him. Very fast, hard working but needs serious work on his end product. His finishing in the Swansea game was woeful but we'll have to wait and see on this player I feel.
