October 26, 20178 yr It was a great cross in fairness! Besides that, you're right, there was very little else. Disappointing, as I'd hoped he might be the creative influence in a line-up that was otherwise fairly lacking on that front. Still, hopefully it was a good learning experience for him. Forest were one thing, but PL level players won't give you any time at all before there's 2/3 of them closing you down, especially 'tricky' players like Charly. A few times he'd take a bit of a poor touch, then look to gather it back in without realising he was already getting crowded out. Hopefully he can learn from Hazard, who's become the master of a tight first touch, then a quick turn and getaway. Still believe he's a real talent and could be big for us, but I think that depends on him keeping his head and continuing to learn and work hard. No more social media tantrums or thinking he deserves more than he gets, but he's generally going the right way at the moment. Edited October 26, 20178 yr by Remy10
October 26, 20178 yr Quite obvious to see he took to the field in the wrong boots. Was slipping all over the place and when you rely on your balance like Charly does then you have no chance. You can see he changed his boots at half time, i imagine to studs instead of moulds. Also, some of the passes Cahill gave him were nowhere near him, look at 00:35 onwards and there are two passes in a row that are just sh*t. Regardless, nice cross for the goal and look forward to see him again.
October 26, 20178 yr I'm a big fan of his. but he was terrible yesterday. His movement and touch werent good enough so he found himself struggling physically. You can get away with being small and slight, if you are clever with your movement, but he was showing for the ball like a target man would do, instead of finding pockets of space and receiving the ball on the half turn. He worked hard though, and it must be tough only playing competitively once a month, but he won't be happy with that performance.
October 26, 20178 yr I wonder whether the ball was a bit off like the City players and Pep suggested... Musonda and Fab could barely control the ball while the ball was practically sticking to Bats feet It is really to control a ball with a dynamic different to the ball that your touch is unconsciously used to. I always (really) struggle if I switch to a lighter ball after playing futsal for a while.
October 26, 20178 yr Didn't see anything to suggest he is even close to pushing for a starting place. Will have to content himself with cameo appearances during injuries and suspensions.

There are a couple of times in that highlight you can see it takes very strange bounces and rises up Edited October 26, 20178 yr by TheChelseaBlues

October 26, 20178 yr @RIP Mourinho one of my pet hates when players have the wrong boots on!!! See it far too frequently
October 26, 20178 yr Could probably do with another loan at a decent club, worked wonders for Christensen.. just needs regular football.
October 26, 20178 yr starting to think hudon-odoi could end up overtaking musonda. really looking good for england u17's so far and for our development squad.
October 27, 20178 yr Would be refreshing to see a youngster really to push himself in the team. Musonda has the ability but he is not the type who pushes himself into Conte's radar. Conte will go for safe choice if Charly doesn't give him enough reasons.
October 27, 20178 yr Apart from the assist against Everton. he hardly did anything. Is definitely not good enough yet to start in a premier league game

I think he, like most youngsters, need a regular run in the first team to develop and to have a better idea of their capabilities. That concept seems so foreign to football managers, though it happens in almost every other sport I'm not going to pass judgment after 1 game.
October 27, 20178 yr Good to see Musonda get a chance but I just don't see anything to suggest he'll kick on and become a top player. As a previous poster suggested Hudson-Odoi seems to have something about him and we need to give him (and Dujon Sterling) a platform to showcase their potential or we risk losing them as we did with Solanke.

The cream usually rises to the top but Musonda for me needs to at least outdo Pedro and Willian when given the chance and his last outing hadn't been good. At the very least, he needs to show he can do it against PL level opposition and a low morale Everton team is the perfect opponent tbf. I agree that there are cases where a player becomes good later in his career so time will tell if he is afforded another opportunity.

The question is will Conte give him a regular run In the team? We are fighting for the top 4 and looking to progress in the champions league. so I can’t see that happening bar an injury crises. It is premature to judge on a few appearances. But I’m of the believer if you are good enough you will play sooner or later.
October 27, 20178 yr I think (no one else seems to think so clearly) that it really was the ball that messed up his touch and dribbling to such an extent. I'm sure Conte will recognize that if it is the case. I would wait for his next non league cup match to form an opinion.
October 27, 20178 yr Clearly a talent. I think Christensen's development path should be the new focus for our youth players that show high upside. Musonda should be loaned out so he can get quality playing time then come back once he's progressed. I'm sure there is a team willing to take him for a two year spell and give him CL experience.
November 1, 20178 yr Reported that he has said he won't sign a new contract and told us he wants to leave with Wenger hovering.
November 1, 20178 yr Yet another youngster wanting to run before they can walk. And bloody Wenger - leave the kids alone!!

Trouble is these kids want to play football and it's now becoming apparent to do so means leaving. Sooner or later we have to play the cream of the crop on a regular basis or face losing them for a pittance of compensation.
November 1, 20178 yr He hasn't exactly set the world alight when given the opportunity so don't know what he expects.
November 2, 20178 yr Fair play to him. He has the drive to actually make something of his career and that won't happen with our reluctance to give youth a chance unless they are established. Utd took a chance on an unheard of Rashford when they were short on options and were close to releasing him and he went to show his worth after a run of games. We have youth players that have the best talent in the world and expect them to be happy with 5 minute cameos once a month and come on to score a hat trick or the 'haven't shown enough'. Just praying he knows better than going to Arsenal. Spurs is probably the best bet for him but i hope to god that doesn't happen.
November 2, 20178 yr Perfectly reasonable for him to want to be playing, he is good enough. Hopefully see him back in the future.
