August 4, 201411 yr What is your take on Zaha? For me looked like total shyte yesterday. Seems to be taking a page out of Nani's book with crossovers and trying to beat defenders. He had a great opportunity to play a nice ball into Rooney last night and decided to be a Nani and challenge the defender (think it was Pepe?) and just coughed up the ball soon as he crossed into the box. I haven't seen him much this preseason but did witness similar things last season. Just curious if people are beginning to feel he may not be the young star he was touted as? He was crap at Cardiff and hasn't really impressed on tour either. Some United fans think he's good because he's got a bit of flair and will run at people etc, but his decision making is poor and he can have all the flair in the world but it doesn't mean jack if he has no end product or doesn't produce the goods, which so far he hasn't. Seems like a waste of £15M to me. I think he's in serious trouble of being shipped out along with the likes of Nani, Anderson and Cleverley. Edited August 4, 201411 yr by B.J

Yep, you read that right. Lots of "if's" in those predictions. Ramsay staying fit, Walcott returning to form following a nasty injury and staying fit. Ozil not fading from form like he did last season. Sanchez adapting to the Premier League quickly. It's not unthinkable but it's a bold prediction. Walcott won't win the golden boot though because he won't get given the playing time through the middle.

August 4, 201411 yr On the theme of WW1 - Who were the Footballers' Battalion?Officially known as the '17th Battalion of the Middlesex Regiment', the 'Footballers' Battalion was formed at Fulham Town Hall in December 1914. It consisted of professional and amateur footballers - plus some supporters - and quickly grew with players from Portsmouth, Crystal Palace and Chelsea. It left for the War after training in November 1915 and played a number of matches as well as fighting the enemy. By the end of the conflict the regiment had lost more than a thousand men. August 4, 201411 yr I think theo walcott has become a better player by being injured for a long time. He has speed and occasionally scores a good goal but he isn't a top player. I'd go as far as saying ox is better than him

As an American kid growing up in the 80's the movie Victory was one of my favorites. I grew up in NY and we had HBO very early on and I remember watching the Stallone/Caine starred movie. It was my first introduction to Pele as well. I own it on DVD to this day and occasionally watch it some 25 years later. I always wondered what footballers did during that time knowing guys in Baseball sacrificed their careers to go fight. Some were simply MP's but others were fighter pilots over Germany. Reading this was a treat because there are not many recent movies that chronicle the first war which in my mind may have been far worse than the second (gas and chemical warfare and all) compared to the more popular and Hollywood friendly second war. This has totally intrigued me to look further and if any of you English/Brits know of some other good commentary/documentaries/movies, it be a treat to hear some. August 5, 201411 yr I know it is preseason but no question both clubs came out of the gate to win this match. United looked good going forward and Herrera is fitting in nicely although he gave a clear penalty on Sterling which was not called. He did feed Chicarito who had a once a season cross to Rooney who played it beautifully in the far corner. It was early second half but I must say United's backline of Jones and Smalling were exactly what they were last season. Total shyte! Both clubs looked fairly weak defensively in my opinion but United need someone to come in. Jones was absolute shyte and Smalling should never have left Craven Cottage because he is rubbish. They both made Sterling look like he was Messi tonight. Liverpool's backline was no better though. Gerrard got his patent penalty but apart from that showed he is now old and slow. Be interesting to see how he holds up all season with Champions League football. My guess he won't and will probably break down at least twice with all their upcoming matches. To be fair (and how that c**not John Aldridge would explain) Sturrdge did not play while I watched, which was more than 2/3's of the match. If so, I think the Scouse would have won this. Jones and Smalling were appalling. So much so I witnessed deGea come out to the edge of the box to put the ball in the stands. Liverpool looked ok but as expected have no bench! kalo Torre was as bad as Jones/Smalling if not worse. I have to say they will be in trouble when the matches stack up this winter. United clearly have an advantage and should finish top four for me. They look well organized compared to last year's circus under Moyes. Feel pretty confident with our backline stopping both but RVP did not play nor Sturbridge so. Bottom line both strong but benches are pretty anemic. Nani as usual utter shyte! Luke Shaw looked good going forward but I didn't see anything that he had to challenge on defense. He did look good going forward though. Most horrific part was Rodgers talking total shyte post match about how America loves Liverpool! Management, players, and fans here Stateside are an absolute pile of dogshyte! Photo of them grinning like they just boosted a car in front of Ground Zero was absolutely disgusting! Love to see (as someone who jokingly suggested) some Chelsea Blues stand in front of the Hillsborough Memorial with ear to ear grins wearing Chelsea shirts. In truth hope it never happens so we can show up class instead of those car thieving Scouse c**ts. Edited August 5, 201411 yr by DoubleHelix

Yep, you read that right. Overconfidence from their fabs, associates and the team themselves will be their downfall. They are far to up their in arse when really they have achieved nothing where the league is concerned, a solitary FA Cup win has made them think they're better than what they are.

August 5, 201411 yr Got any links? https://twitter.com/RAWK_Meltdown That guy spends his free time looking for the funniest comments from RAWK. I didn't watch their game but I think Liverpool are the most vulnerable in the top 4. They'll be coping with CL football again, which means no more week long breaks between games, and they've lost their best player without adequate replacement. United however will have the same light schedule Liverpool enjoyed last season, plus a manager who isn't a complete clown.
August 5, 201411 yr Some of those are hilarious! Mind you, sometimes what people say on here is nearly as bad.
