November 6, 201411 yr At a time when record money is coming into the clubs via tv and sponsorships, the real fans have been marginalised by ever increased ticket prices. This results in more tourists at the grounds and sterile atmospheres, fair play to those who protest.f**king spare us your drivel you twat! Did you ever think that "Foriegn" money from said tourists and merchandise sales help pay for the players we sign? You remind me of that bloke cab driver in the movie Football Factory. Pipe down and give it a f**king rest! Without foreign money coming in to the club we would not make FFP. You my friend are a complete idiot. Can't afford tickets? Perhaps you should have made more of yourself to have the ability to afford tickets. Sick of hearing people like you alienated because Chelsea has become a global brand where folks want to travel to London and see the club. f**king pathetic you are! I am a foreigner and have spent probably more money on the club than you. Give it a f**king rest already! You want trophies but yet you'll bitch about the foreign money that pays for it. I've been a Chelsea supporter since '94 and you know what I've never seen a match at the Bridge. However it does not mean I am no less a fan than you because you were born in England! Sick and tired of hearing people like you whine and moan about how foreigners are ruining Chelsea. No, we are not! We are providing revenue to the club who then sign world class players. Mind you most of those players are foreign to begin with! Run along and bitch to your boss about not making enough money and how life sucks because US FOREIGNERS are ruining your club! The dross you speak is f**king ridiculous! You want a world known club and the money but yet you don't like foreign supporters. Your Mum is calling, think she has some soup in the stove because clearly you can't feed yourself. To everyone else, my apologies! I simply find it ridiculous when fools like this comment about how Chelsea is a foreign club! For me, they will always be London's club regardless if us Yanks, Asians, Aussies, Latinos or freaking whoever else shows up. We all love the club as much as you and frankly want to see lower ticket prices for you English to go and sing so we can hear it on the television. However you want world class footballers be prepared to pay for it. It's not us foreigners who've raised ticket sales. It is the caliber of players we sign. I do my part and buy gear every year and if I lived in London I would try to see as many matches as I can afford and not bitch and moan about how tickets were once cheap. No competitive club nowadays can charge what they did years ago! It's called inflation and supply and demand. Basic economics says it all. Sorry truth hurts. You want a world brand you Have to accept foreign fans. Edited November 6, 201411 yr by DoubleHelix
November 6, 201411 yr Man City are useless in the Champions League and have been for years. Quite amazing considering the talent and depth of their squad that they always struggle in this competition. Pellegrini's on thin ice now if he wasn't already.
November 6, 201411 yr Yeah I don't get it! Such a wealth of talent and they have struggled in the CL. If I was a city fan CL would definitely be top priority after winning the league not long ago
November 6, 201411 yr It's like they already accepted defeat and are actively trying to come last and not in a europa league spot.
November 6, 201411 yr When people talk about how bad English teams have performed in CL in recent years, does anyone else think it has something to do with the intensity of our league, compared to the likes of Spain and Germany? A lot of players who come to the EPL always mention how fast and physical the game is here, so I'm just wondering what others think.
November 6, 201411 yr ^ That speed and physicality used to be something that played to our advantage in Europe. The increasing lack of tolerance by refs for physical play, and perhaps a move to play a more European game (particularly in European contests) may be working against us. Also (generalising a bit) there are managers and players who just get it wrong or, like Man City's players, seem not 100% committed. I don't know what the answer is but, almost across the board, English teams are having a 'mare. Re. the tourism thing (above): there's a difference between a genuine fan visiting from abroad (like DoubleHelix or Robdog, etc) - no objections to that and it's good when real fans from abroad are there. I chatted to a Norwegian Spurs fan at a match last year and he was steeped in the club's history, etc. The objection is to those who go to a game in London, at one of the big teams, in the same way that they'd visit a museum or Big Ben. I'm know what Charriere means re. cost - a day at PL football is pretty expensive and, if you can't afford to do it often, it's easier said than done to get more money. November 6, 201411 yr Tbh we could so with City beating Roma or Bayern just so they get Europa League if they get completely knocked out it could make the season easier for them
November 6, 201411 yr Tbh we could so with City beating Roma or Bayern just so they get Europa League if they get completely knocked out it could make the season easier for them Could go both ways. Easier due to lack of games to play OR harder because they have a large squad and won’t be able to rotate like they can just now so will lead to a even more unsettled dressing room. That being said they should beat Roma away from home, they are not a great team and hopefully if they do that will be enough for a EL spot.
November 6, 201411 yr Pellegrino is finished. They know how to win the league but it's clear the CL is the trophy the Arab owners covet.
November 6, 201411 yr Thats a silly thing to say. If you are a big club and playing in the CL then every owner will want to win it. Do you think that Roman doesnt fancy it this year?
November 6, 201411 yr Hopefully City can squeeze into 3rd or it gives them a clear run at a title challenge.

No competitive club nowadays can charge what they did years ago! It's called inflation and supply and demand. Basic economics says it all. Sorry truth hurts. You want a world brand you Have to accept foreign fans. WTF! Youve completly missed the point , the core support of all clubs in the premier league has now changed forever. The costs have escalated considerably for the ordinary fans after 'sky' invented football and sold our game to world very succesfully I may add. With it comes a loyal support from all over the world...these fans are just as important as the fans in the London.....Chelsea has always had a large following from around the UK ( I live 200 miles away myself but chose Chelsea close on 50 yrs ago in preference to my local clubs City and Utd)within in my lifetime who are just as loyal as the fans who live a stones throw from the ground. This money has definetly allowed our clubs to compete on the world scene with the other big leagues in the world. The atmosphere though has changed at grounds , be it the all seater stadiums thrust upon us by politicians who failed to control an overall social problem that blighted us in the 80s or the costs that alienated the working man from the grounds. The clientele of clubs has changed and the atmopsheres with it (some for the better some for the worse). I note you say you started following in 94 , you will definetly have seen significant change yourself in those 20 yrs as I have in the preceding 25. Nothing will actually bring the atmopsheres back to the ground other than the introduction of safe standing with lower costs no matter who actually attends.
November 6, 201411 yr Lambert and Townsend have been included in the next England squad despite neither having scored or probably even completed a pass this season. Chris Smalling also earned a call up following his solid performance in the Manchester Derby. Walcott and Carrick are also included despite having played a combined 30 minutes this season through injury. Glad to see we've continued our fine tradition of choosing players playing sh*t at big clubs over players playing well at smaller teams. At least Berahino got called up I guess.

The call ups of the likes of Lambert is bad enough, but Carrick and Walcott getting a call up is a joke. Carrick has been out with an injury and he's pretty sh*t these days and Walcott has just returned from a serious knee injury. Hodgson is a lazy manager, he's not looking at players himself, he's just picking players from the top sides whether they play or not. Or he is picking players the media is raving about. He's sh*t, and despite managing a team that has been woeful in the last 2 tournaments there is no pressure to replace him. We have had better England managers that have better records that have been under more pressure than him. Edited November 6, 201411 yr by Scott Harris
November 6, 201411 yr I bet Woy reads the Sun newspaper for his choices, would definitely explain how Jack Wilshere keeps getting called up even though hes pants

Bless you having to get up at 4am and drinking bad coffee! Many on here would trade places with you in a heart beat. sadly there's a wee bit of water in between NI and England, which I cant swim across. However, I am going over in a few weeks for the West Brom game and I haven't even got a ticket sorted yet. :/ There's awful criticism on here when it comes to talking about fans from other parts of the world and its not right. We are all supporters, some are luckier than others by their location, but we should be encouraging each other, not peering down ones nose at another.

November 6, 201411 yr I honestly would have swapped lambert, or even rooney, for kane. Neither have really done anything special for a while now. It is about time we brought some new, young blood into the national side.
