September 2, 201411 yr I just don't understand Wenger. He could have got Remy for less money who is a proven goalscorer or paid the same amount for Balotelli who is technically on another planet from Welbeck. Danny Welbeck is not a good finisher and has 29 goals in 140 odd appearances, that's not a £16 million pound striker. Don't get me wrong, I love the way the gooners go about their deadline days but you have to wonder what the hell Wenger is thinking. He wants to be a cheap bar steward while making people think he bought a big signing and that he isn't a cheap skate who goes for the mediocre buys.
September 2, 201411 yr Welbeck leaving doesn't inherently bother me, it's just the fact that we're strengthening Arsenal that annoys me. Funnily enough Arsenal fans are pretty down about the deal too. I think there's no question that we've improved our starting line up and squad. How much exactly and and whether the money we spent will be worth it is another question. We'll have to wait and see. I don't think we were ever going to fix all our problems in one window though considering how many we had, and we'll always overpay just because of who we are and how much money we've got. Getting top 4 this season will be difficult but the one big advantage we have is that we've no CL football and we play a lot of the big teams after they've played their CL matches. Lastly I don't have any problems admitting that you guys have done the best business. Good answer. I'm just looking forward to seeing if LVG sticks to his 3-5-2 formation. On evidence of your last PL game i don't think the players "get it" yet...
September 2, 201411 yr How can B.J. so nonchalantly say United and Liverpool will finish ahead of Arsenal? Is 17 years of evidence not enough to tell you that Wenger specializes in getting his side into the top 4 regardless of how good/poor his side are. If anything the top 4 will be Chelsea, City/Arsenal and United/Liverpool possibly Spurs fighting for 4th place, How do people fall into the trap of writing Arsenal off for the top 4 year in year out, Every year we seem to doubt them and they find a way, If it's not Aston Villa it's Spurs, If it's not Spurs it's Everton, Arsenal always pip teams to 4th, Write them off at your peril. Was going to write something similar. They have been written off to finish outside the top 4 for the last few years now and always managed it (despite being humiliated in a number of games last season)
September 2, 201411 yr I dont think Van Gaal will last two seasons. Me either, on current form he seems a worse choice than Moyes. Don't forget Moyes had won some silverware by now last season....lol Edited September 2, 201411 yr by MissouriBlue
September 2, 201411 yr Me either, on current form he seems a worse choice than Moyes. Don't forget Moyes had won some silverware by now last season....lol He had a pretty terrible start with Bayern and managed to win a double in the same season. He says he needs 3 months to get things sorted out. He won't be winning the title if he needs that sort of time in this league because City and ourselves will be too far ahead, but I think the Glazers will humour him for that period unless they end up in relegation form.
September 2, 201411 yr I agree, 3 months in our league is far too long. You couldnt catch the leading teams up.
September 2, 201411 yr Chelsea City Liverspew Arsenal Everton Utd Spurs Swansea Stoke Hull I think this will be there or thereabouts at end of season. Maybe the 8th-10th will be in a different order? Edited September 2, 201411 yr by MissouriBlue
September 2, 201411 yr Did Khedira move anywhere? Thought he would have been a smart signing for ManU.
September 2, 201411 yr Did Khedira move anywhere? Thought he would have been a smart signing for ManU. No, he's a signing they could have done with haha. A fair few have speculated (or hoped) that he's running his contract down and that he's coming here next season.
September 2, 201411 yr Did Khedira move anywhere? Thought he would have been a smart signing for ManU. Surprising nobody picked him up. Both Arsenal and United could really use him. I'd certainly take him on a free next year.
September 2, 201411 yr Surprising nobody picked him up. Both Arsenal and United could really use him. I'd certainly take him on a free next year. Khedira in, Mikel out. That would be perfect.
September 2, 201411 yr Khedira in, Mikel out. That would be perfect. I can see him moving in January.
September 2, 201411 yr Could you imagine if Utd had got Jose last season and gave him the type of money Moyes and Van Gael had got to spend? They would easily be one of the top 3 teams in the world right now Thank f**k we got Mourinho!

September 2, 201411 yr United are a different club though, they went for tradition...sacked tradition...ripped all the mancunians out the club and have now started throwing silly money at their problems. Don't let a United fan bleat about other clubs spending ever again lads.

Exactly, They would have made a play for Mourinho had it not been for their 'holier than thou' mentality and the 'United way' Lol Yet now that philosophy is nowhere to be seen.

I think there is fair a bit of the "Sturridge factor" around the Welbeck transfer. A young centre-forward never really been given the chance to play regularly in his natural position at United. Often utilised out wide. Often overlooked in favour of a big name high-profile signing. IMO he could possibly be a very good deal for Le Arse if Whinger shows him some lurve and builds his confidence. He always impressed me when I saw him played as an out and out no: 9 at Sunderland and had a real work ethic. And still only 23. Edited September 2, 201411 yr by just
September 2, 201411 yr That's Wengers thing though, after he done it with Henry he has tried it ever since. A young forward who is quick and he can turn them into the new Henry. Sadly for the goons and gladly for the rest of us he's never replicated his fluke since.

Don't let a United fan bleat about other clubs spending ever again lads. My bro (United fan) keeps saying they're spending money they earned not that their sugar daddy gave them. I said you have got money from a sugar daddy its called Adidas.
September 2, 201411 yr Exactly, They would have made a play for Mourinho had it not been for their 'holier than thou' mentality and the 'United way' Lol Yet now that philosophy is nowhere to be seen. Let's face it, it was nothing we didn't know already. They love to regurgitate these sugary myths about themselves: "different sort of club", "the United Way" blah blah, but it was always BS. At least now some of them know it too.

He always impressed me when I saw him played as an out and out no: 9 at Sunderland and had a real work ethic. And still only 23. No I'm sorry but Sturridge was always a different class to Welbeck, Sturridge was always going to be something special. Sturridge had a fantastic technical ability and was still our top scorer when pushed out wide and his conversion rate was absolutely sublime. Welbeck was very overrated just like Cleverly was, they where playing decent in the United side, arguably passengers to and where getting absolutely tonnes of hype, just visit the Manc forum from two years ago when they beat Spurs at home, they where making threads about Welbeck and Cleverly to be world class players. Sturridge on the other hand was pulling out assists, taking on players and scoring a sh*t load of good quality goals Welbeck was barely doing anything and to be honest the amount of times he gives the ball away is just shocking. I don't think he's anywhere near the abillity Sturridge is, Welbeck was just very overrated from the start, not his fault obviously but when Sturridge was Welbecks age, granted a year ago he was much better. Say what you want about Danny he always proved himself when given a chance, he scored as a teenager when brought on for City in the Premier League, he came here and grabbed his goal against Stoke in Carlos first season, after that we sent him out on loan probably to never be seen again and he was fantastic given the fact he was 21 years old at the time, he scored 8 goals in 13 matches? Then he still wasn't given the chance over Torres and was pushed out wide but still scored 14 goals that season and grabbed a handful of assists like his ball to Drogba in the Laverkusen match which was absolutely quality. And now he is at Liverpool and even when Suarez isn't there he always scores, Danny Welbeck can do no such thing despite the immense pressure, I guess you just can't write Danny off and you probably never will. No I'm sorry but Sturridge was always a different class to Welbeck, Sturridge was always going to be something special. I would like to interject that Danny Boy Stud was actually quite prolific when given the chance w/ CFC. The thing that prevented him was his selfishness. Welbeck seemed to have spurts of grandeur, but really couldn't keep it up for prolonged periods of time. True as just has claimed, let's see how Welbeck turns out. He will have competition with Sanogo & Giroud (when he gets healthy). Still I think le arse needed that CM like a Khedira or a YaYa Toure to make a legit challenge for the Title. Until then they will be just a cup side.
