Watching aftermath discussion - amusing.

Not only is Gerrard dreadfully dull, he cannot do a tie properly.

did you think Stevie G is a big Balo fan??  I don't think so from his response to the ball grabbing for the pen - the Liverpool dressing room must be interesting at times

Balotelli is one of the best penalty takers in the world.

Absolutely ridiculous hissy fits from Jordan 'every Liverpool fan used to tell me I'm sh*t' Henderson and Stevie 'my only contribution to the premier league is losing it for my childhood club' Gerrard.

Noooo, but can you imagine Henderson standing his ground in the current climate!

i loved the irony of the home crowd singing "you're not singing anymore" at the Besiktas fans who had been the only people making any atmosphere all night

I thought that as well. Sat in the upper tier Rd End, with a tired and probably a bit bored Mr Pink Jnr. They were very loud fans, with some catchy chants. Our support seemed quite drab and aged on the odd occasion when people bothered.

Sherwood will come really unstuck and I can't wait for it to happen.

How they hailed him after his team talk apparantly turned it around against Leicester was desperate at best.

Why would you want Henderson taking a penalty over Balotelli?

He was apparently the designated penalty taker but I have no idea why, Balotelli showed greater leadership than him by stepping up and wanting to take on the responsibility.

Aww!!

Jay Beatty: 11-year-old nets Scottish goal of the month award
_80990610_celticjay.jpgJay Beatty after being placed among the contenders for the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) goal of the month award for January. He won with 97% of the vote.

An 11-year-old boy from County Armagh has won the Scottish Premiership goal of the month award for January.

Jay Beatty, from Lurgan, hit the back of the net at half-time during Celtic's victory over Hamilton Academical.

Jay, who has Down's Syndrome, won 97% of the thousands of votes cast to scoop the award.

The announcement was made on YouTube by Jay's hero, former Celtic striker Georgios Samaras.

On the video message, sent from Saudi Arabia, Greek striker Samaras says: "Jay my friend, you and me we're the same now, scoring goals. I'm very happy to announce you won the goal of the month.

"Well done pal, great job. I miss you and I love you."

Samaras and Beatty struck up a friendship when they met at the end of Celtic's Premiership-winning season in May 2014.

Jay, a big Celtic fan, knocked in his half-time penalty during his team's win at Hamilton after being invited to the game as a special guest of the New Douglas Park side.

He was able to give a pre-match team talk to the Celtic players in the away dressing room.

His father Martin said: "Jay stood in front of 20 professional players and gave off about their previous performances and said they needed to buck up their ideas, it seemed to work a treat."

Darren Bent has scored six goals in 7 games whilst on loan at Derby.

His parent club, Aston Villa, have 12 league goals all season.

I think it's quite clear that Bent and Lambert had a falling out a couple of seasons ago but I just wonder if Villa slightly regret sending Bent out on loan now, especially with Sherwood now taking over.

He's never been a world beater Bent but he's always had a knack for scoring goals and that's exactly what Villa have been missing this season.

"Monaco have a number of "great clubs" interested in signing their £50m striker Falcao should Manchester United decide against making his loan deal permanent at the end of the season."

You have to wonder who these 'great' clubs are..

Falcao looks a shadow of the player that tore us apart in the super cup.

Surely in the PL there is only one "great club", with a genius manager who can get failing strikers to score again :-)

I like that Monaco are so desperate to be shot of Falcao they're advertising his availability.
