What do we think about the Markovic ban? I hate Liverpool but it's absolutely ridiculous that a player has been given a ban for a situation like that, 4 games is a farce

Well, it is a farce. No two ways about that. But then again Markovic deserves it for his sheer stupidity when he made that "challenge".

 

Okay it's been a bad two season for them in but they're the most successful side of the Premier League era and it's only a matter of time before they're back competing for the title.  

 

Livpool have shown that may not necessarily be the case. 

 

They have fans in their 30's that can't remember ever winning the league.

I think it’s more likely to be the case now than then because United have the biggest revenue and budget out of everyone else.

It’s a certainty that they will spend big again in the summer and with players like Di Maria and Rooney they are going to be back again challenging sooner rather than later.

I'm not doubting they will mate, but they have got serious competition nowadays, not like in the 90's when hardly anyone used to challenge them consistently, even Arsenal came second best 90% of the time. Players have got other clubs to go to and earn a living and pick up trophies, it's not all about united getting THE best players any more.

4 European game ban for a Liverpool player? that's an 8 year ban, poor sod.

I mean Mata and Di Maria have not exactly set the world on fire since United spent the best part of £90 odd million on them but I think when they add more quality to the first 11 and replace the likes of Smalling, Fellani etc then we will see a far stronger United.

I mean as bad as we all see them today they have only lost only 1 in 19 games and are in the top 4.

It’s the FFP thing that worries me most as this actually benefits clubs like United who will see the other clubs like ourselves who have relied on our owners financial situation to take us to where we are now being in a situation where we need to balance the books in terms of revenue and expenditure. Now we are in the habit of having to sell to buy which admittedly has worked wonders so far but there will come a time when we just won’t be able to compete with United for the best out there. This will be the case till we move from or expand The Bridge.

We are in a good position in terms of squad and manager right now so I’m more optimistic than not but still I can see a reborn United very, very soon.

Must say getting 4 matches for what was never a red in the first place is a complete joke but it's Liverpool who would have no sympathy with one of ours so feck 'em.

His sending off against Juventus was an utter joke as well, he wasn't even involved in the incident and the player came out defending Markovic by saying as much. Really harsh decision.

Have UEFA issued a statement on why they granted the additional match ban?

Do the UEFA rules state which shirt numbers are to be used to determine whether a ban gets extended? Bit of a difference between, say, Ivan's and Azpi's. ;-)

What did you fellas make of the game? The away goal has given you the advantage but if Cahill starts in the 2nd leg it could be a tense match, Pundits can ramble on about the Cahill/Terry partnership all they want but Terry is the colossus in that defence and at times his reading of the game makes Cahill look good, Anyway what did Zouma do to get benched? or was he carrying a niggle? He's been superb every time I've watched him.
