I think Carjacker got so upset because he knows Sterling is the future for any Liverpool prospects as their time as a "big" club is getting dangerously close to running out. They couldn't get any top players to come last year and now even the players they have want to jump ship. They're lucky they managed to re-sign coutinho or he'd probably be on his way too

Interesting to see we are joint bottom of the yellows for dissent league, surprising because we are terrible evil people who harass refs at every opportunity.

John Barnes has taken a break from whinging about the lack of coaching oppotunites he gets and has thrown in his two bobs worth about Sterling.

"Raheem has great potential, but Liverpool gave him an opportunity and he should stay," said Barnes.

"He has not achieved anything, he has not won anything. Does anyone believe that if he goes to Manchester City he will be the first name on the team sheet or are they just signing him because they need English players?"

So yeah... about that whole feeling "bullied" about staying....

"He has not achieved anything, he has not won anything." Well that isn't going to change if he stays at Anfield, is it John?

I'm just making a wild guess here but maybe, just maybe Sterling sees signing for Chelsea, City, United or Arsenal (well maybe not Arsenal) as a way of changing the 'achieved nothing, won nothing' situation?

So John Barnes is saying that a young black, skilful winger, born in Jamaica but who represents England, who hasn't actually won any trophies should stay at a smaller club because they 'gave him an opportunity'.

Does Elton John need to write a song for him to see the hypocrisy in that statement?

I don't see Sterling as a 'trier'; I don't think he'll dig deep when things are tough and he doesn't keep going like Hazard. He's good but he's not yet as good or as mature as he might be. Do CFC need an 'ego' player like him? I'd guess not.

I've had mixed feelings, but at this moment I admire his chutzpah. He's not happy, clearly, and at a tender age he's not about to be manipulated. He may, for all we know, be setting a future tone for other youngsters.

Aside from that I wouldn't want to be a Brendan Babe, or a Rodgers Rugrat.

I don't mind admitting I'm enjoying watching this particular space ;)

He wants a bit of this and who can blame him.:)

To be fair I said the same thing about Hazard right up until the 5-3 loss at your lot. He could disappear, not turn up and be plain inconsistent, despite being about 3 years older than Sterling. It's only in the last 6 months that he's been truly consistent and one of the best in the league in my opinion.

It is an interesting situation. A lot (of his future) will depend upon whether, when he moves, he knuckles down and fewer issues seem to surround him. At present, he's known as much for off-field as for on-field reasons. That's been the case with other players before of course.

Would Jose put up with Raheem's attitude (assuming that he has one)?

To the best of my, limited, knowledge the only player Jose openly admitted he couldnt/wouldn't help/handle was Balotelli. I said at the time Brenda would send me to inhale laughing gas, can you imagine being managed by him!

Blue Daze doesn't seem to think he does, but then again he seems to be Sterling's personal cheerleader

And that depends which way the wind is blowing the my little pony's mane.

I don't think Sterling would improve on what we already have and he would be a bit part player for us at the moment.

I think he has promise to be a good player, but should stay at a mid table club for a couple more seasons.

Don't have a link but it was very quick he said his team were pleased with the result but that Chelsea have been the best team this season and they & Joey deserve all the plaudits.

Cheers mate!

I do try.

+1 - I would take Andre Ayew over Sterling. IMHO it's just the English Media Hype

One thing I will say in Sterling's favour, the critiscm he's getting from ex Liverpool players is massively desperate from them. How dare he want to leave their club? Doesn't he know who they are? Yada yada. Infact it's quite funny watching the meltdown from the ex Liverpool folk

Which will probably only confirm to him he is right to want away

Phil Thompson's turn to stick the boot I on Sterling now saying he is greedy and has an inflated sense of how good he is.

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/12931/9856410/phil-thompson-believes-raheem-sterling-will-regret-leaving-liverpool

Considering nothing is official with regards to him wanting to leave and no transfer request has been submitted I find I strange how many people affiliated with LFC are queuing up to slag him off via the media.

If you were Sterling and reading and hearing all this criticism wouldn't you want out of the club too at this point?

Plenty of people coming out and chastising him for not saying 'yes massa' to the first deal.

No wonder he wants out.

I just question all this stuff about his attitude when those who work with him say he's a good kid who just loves playing football.

You've made a number of criticisms none of which carry water. Maybe some people need to have a look at why they view him the way they do and whether it has substance or not.

I find it interesting that the accusation keeps being that he just wants money but £100k a week is as good as he'll be offered most other places.

The boy himself has said it's not about money and I honestly believe that the club selling Suarez and failing to build on last season is a big factor. Liverpool have gone backwards this season and he probably doesn't want to tie himself to the club for five years with little prospect of winning anything.

He's London born so he has no allegiance to the club in that respect.

I would argue he is maybe England's most promising prospect right now and with just 12 months left on his contract if ever there was a time to engineer a move away it's now.

Wouldn't it be great if he did go to another club for a smaller salary, folk do from time to time and it would cock a snook to his detractors.
