Following Our Nearest and Dearest Rivals, 2014-15

I actually think Ashley Young deserves a place in this England squad, and I f**king hate that guy!  Thought he's always played alright when I've seen him for Utd and his crosses are generally pretty good.

What's Mason like?!  Only seen him once, against us I think, and wouldn't really rate him.

Hart

Clyne - Cahill - Jagielka - Bertrand

Henderson - Wilshere

Sterling - Barkley - Walcott

Rooney

Depressing that that is our strongest XI.

edit: And can someone please tell me how Andros Townsend is STILL an England player?

If Sturridge ever get's back to full fitness and if Kane can continue to improve it will be interesting to see what Hodgson does. I think he would stick Sturridge on the wing ahead of Walcott. Then he would put Kane up front and Rooney would play just behind him.

I think it would look like this

Hart

Clyne Jagielka Cahill Baines

Wilshere Henderson

Sterling                          Sturridge

Rooney

        Kane

I would pick Bertrand ahead of Baines though

Injured. He was willing to play through the pain for England despite his "minor" injury but Hodgson despite praising him for his performances; made it clear that it's against the wishes of the medical staff of both Manchester United and England.

Press conference - Rodgers on Sterling "Raheem has the opportunity to play for one of the greatest clubs in the world".

Yeah but which one is it going to be? :laugh2::laugh2:

This issue haunts sides like us (Spurs) and LFC: we're a big club but mainly so because of our reputation and history. We are well off but not in the same financial league as some other clubs and, being honest, what does a name and the past mean (except perhaps to a lad who is from North London in our case or Liverpool in LFC's case). I don't like Sterling from what I've seen of him but there are bigger teams out there than LFC.

Think those 2 days were only because we played on a Monday night first game.

No Spurs were top on gd after two games - all because of the Burnley goal.

And still with all that quality we never amounted to anything.

Wilshere is overrated but he is a talented player, as is Jordan Henderson. Delph is limited but still an asset to the side should England keep the faith with him. Which it looks like they are doing. All the big stars we had only cared about club football and little for the England side. Do you think Fabian Delph would choose England over Villa? I think he would.

I think it is good we get players committed to the side rather than players that are always in the spotlight. We do have flair in the side, Ross Barkley and Raheem Sterling and perhaps more support players than once that give a lot of influence but I think the whole sides mentality has changed a lot.

At the end of the day we don't exactly have the luxury of world beaters but I think the route the F.A. are taking is the best one, I think people should think a little first about what's best rather than just straight up criticizing as soon as we see the team sheet.

Pretty much this.

Big names like Gerrard or Lampard count for very little if we crash out of competitions without putting up much of a fight. I'll wait and see how this England squad perform first before I start complaining, it's not like the standards have been set very high.

Ah ok, thanks for that :) don't really follow the England team too closely, and hadn't heard he was injured.

That's a top4 stat, not just #1 place :)

So I went a bit WTF thinking how come we had 2 days out of top4 this season before realizing it must be because we started the season 2 days later than other clubs.

I can't put Lpool and Spurs in the same space in my head, Podgy over Brenda is easy; Spurs is a southern team (sorry, Gem will understand me); Kane is with Spurs. Liver who?

Edit. Wasn't going to mention Slipperella, but I don't dislike anyone in Spurs as much as I did him (ah, don't you love the past tense).

Vertonghen is pretty close in the knobhead stakes to Gerrard, it's just that the media doesn't fawn over him 24/7 that makes him easier to forget about.

Speaking of which, this is a serious, real tweet :face_palm: :

Think even Carragher realized how dramatic the Crystanbul game was and is now making a wind-up. He's not serious.

Yeah, because last week wasn't enough was it ? We have had enough Gerrard praise to last 100 life times, enough is enough.

I know it's the type of thing people might expect from a scouser but that's 100% a joke from Carragher.

Are you sure? I'm not sure if he's able to be that subtle.

With Liverpool weirdos you just can't tell when they are joking. Though what is definitely funny is seeing them now saying sterling isn't that good anyway, never was, ibe is better etc.

f**king seriously?

He's got a point though. Last week was Gerrard's last ANFIELD match. This is his last Premier League match, possibly ever. I know Stoke will probably give him a guard of honour but what about the rest of the clubs?

Obviously there's that rumour of us chanting Lampard's name in the 8th minute but there's also a campaign to get every club chanting Gerrard's name in the 8th minute, across all the leagues. That's a great tribute in my opinion.
