The Chronicles of Brendan 'Cringe Worthy' Rodgers

Featured Replies

A reading fan absolutely, nailed rogers earlier on talksh*t, he said (they were talking about rodgers getting the sack) he didn't know how rodgers got the job at liverpool in the first place.

he said (the reading fan) he didn't do very much at reading, and then basically went and took over roberto martinez's swansea side, got them promoted, and then swansea played one season of half decent football, got some decent results at home, and that got him the liverpool job,

which hardly makes him qualified to manage one of the biggest clubs in england, and now  he was being found out which i thought was a some very good  points.

I'd heard this from a swansea fan when Rodgers took over Liverpool. Made me wonder if there was anything to this at the time, but was quite happy to give him a chance.

The key is when do the owners make a proper assessment of him. This summer we lost one the best players in Europe, the strike partner has been laid up virtually all season so far. Don't think too many teams would be able to replace what we've lost out on so I can see him getting some slack there.

But his transfer dealings have been, at best questionable. The owners have made plenty of funds avalable to him and I understand he's spent over £200m gross since being in charge. That's quite a spend.

This season we've seen us virtually surrender our name in the CL, and look so far off the pace with 1/3 of the season gone that top 4 looks unattainable, unless there are some dramatic turnarounds in form for us and with other teams becoming crap.

Not doing himself many favours though. Everybody that knows anything about football says that super Mario can't play as a lone striker. But Rodgers has used him that way again and again. When he's fit again, I'm sure he'll slot straight back in.

Naw, Rodgers is a beast in the transfer market, he took Southampton's three best players for only 50 million, Lallana, Lambert, and Lovren are worth way more than that. Bargains of the summer. Don't look at the league table pl0x.

According to Rodgers after we beat them at Anfield and wrecked their title hopes last season.... it's easy to park the bus and defend.

In the next game they played the dippers were 3-0 up at Selhurst Park with less than 20 minutes to go. We all know how that ended.....they shipped 3 goals and drew 3-3.

This season....same ground, same team and the dippers take an early lead. They shipped another 3 goals and lost 3-1. Their 6th defeat in 12 league matches. So it's easy to park the bus and defend eh Brendan ? You haven't got a clue.

Liverpool are now just 4 points off the relegation zone.

I might dislike some of our rivals to varying degrees, but I absolutely loathe that scummy club and hope they fall right through the trapdoor into the league below.

The thing is his C.V fullstop. he got swansea promoted via the playoffs, and thats the only thinghe's done! he's tactically inept, all he had to do was draw against us and he couldn't even do that, or get the team to defend a  3-0 lead, for 20mins, add to that his dubious transfer dealings and you get an idiot.he didn't even sign soton's best centre back, wanyama. and paid way over the odds for lalana 25m for a player who's had a good season, are you telling me that adam the llama is worth 7m less than we paid for hazard, no chance. then you've got, not so super mario. who three of the games most strict disciplinarians could not straighten out, jose knows players and he said that mario was the worst player that had ever worked under him for just not paying attention and doing what he wanted, but brenda could!

 i don't think so.

How dare you ungrateful ingrates question Brenda's CV and overlook his amazing run as our reserve's teams manager :Connie_threaten:

I think he did a very good job at Swansea, I heard some pundits say that Swansea have 0 chance of staying up in the Premier League because apparently they were still a Championship team but they didn't just win games they did play good football as well and had a strong balance.

Swansea have always been strong since being promoted to the Premier League, I suppose they have Martinez to thank for that though not just Rodgers.

They rode there luck last season, you can't deny he didn't do a good job to get so many wins with a very bad defence but they were very very lucky. I thought Rodgers was a good tactical manager at Swansea, he seemed that way but he's nothing like that at all. He is so up his own arse at Liverpool right now and believes in only one way of playing football as the Liverpool fans call it now the 'right' way.

I can see him getting the sack though now definitely, finishing 2nd was more of a curse than anything they would have been a lot better off just managing to finish 4th, It's hard for any Liverpool fan to look on that and say it was a good season especially when they realize that it was there last chance and I guarantee it that they will not come close to that title, not for a very long time.

The current state of LFC and of Rodger's career is interesting as - amongst other things - it illustrates what can be a narrow margin between glory and relative failure. A few different choices last season (i.e. setting up differently against CFC and Palace) and Rodgers would be untouchable this season as manager, no matter how LFC performed. Instead, we know what happened and (I didn't see it coming) Rodgers is at real risk of losing his job to Rafa.

Toure's pass at west brom across the goal to gift them an equaliser, joe allens terrible miss at castle gloom when we were 2 - 1 ahead, and would have virtually sealed the game. Both games ended as draws. Four points dropped due to two pieces of poor individual play. Would have changed the outcome. To be fair you can point to moments in plenty of games that could have changed the outcome of the result, but I will remember these two nearly as much as Gerrard's faux pax.

I sincerely hope that we don't see Rafa back in charge at Anfield. He was moved on for a reason, and it wasn't just due to him clashing with the owners. The majority of his team selections and tactics at Liverpool seemed set up to defend the point they had at the start and see if they could turn it into a win. That approach can have its merits at times (your visit last season, although I sincerely doubt we'd have been so close to it with Rafa in charge 08/09 aside) but too often we suffered for it.

Often idiots are promoted to move them on and get them out of the way, not uncommon for the recently promoted not to last long. I'm sure many have had work bosses and wondered how on earth they managed to get to that position.

I wonder if wifey number two will stay the course if BR is on the slide.

(I like my initial pun.)

Ha, I was wondering myself how long the newly found love would hang around should Rodgers be sacked :-)

Are you familiar with the Peter Principle? That is a very valid theory on the advancement of people to the position where they will fail.

Aware of the occurrence and associated research, but glad you jogged my elderly brain cells.

I think it's clear that last season was due to Saurez and Strurridge's sensational form - and fair play to Rodgers for that. He got them motivated and performing incredibly well.

However, he's starting to look abit of idiot now with no plan B. The media were banging on about his team playing brilliant football but they were so reliant on Saurez and Studge that it has become obvious.

His quotes are starting to come back and bite him (sorry). I think if things don't pick up he will be gone.

I wonder if he was this cringe worthy when he was at Chelsea - or is it a Liverpool thing?

Funny how most of us dislike him. Normally someone who works for Chelsea gets quite abit of respect but Rodgers doesn't - probably for the reasons above.

I don't dislike him.

Just think he's a bit of a tit.

I kinda agree with this. I dont hate him but he isnt a likeable guy.

Neil Warnock... I dislike him.

Rafa Benetiz... I dislike him.

Martin O'Niell... I dislike him.

Rodgers is a bit of a prat, says stupid things.. obviously the comparison has been made before but he is a bit David Brent-esque.

The title of the thread sums it up nicely, he is cringe worthy.
