November 9, 201410 yr You just don't like him because he is a Paddy just like you all slag Mr Roy Keane, I like Mr Rodgers but I don't like his teeth. Brilliant made my day
November 9, 201410 yr  I like Mr Rodgers but I don't like his teeth.  I think he's had a job done on his teeth. He's getting more like Phil Brown everyday.
November 9, 201410 yr Another one trick Pony like AVB. Both have done well on occasions relying on couple of really good players ( not necessarily their buy), but showing their true colours once out of comfort zone. Expectations are changing fast, I remember he was talking about title challenge and give anyone a good game in the CL, 3 months later he threw CL game away to lose a league match with a bit of dignity left. I remember under the AVB era, he was talking up title when he arrived, expectation quickly dropped to top 4 finish after about 2-3 months in charge.
November 10, 201410 yr I agree, just like AVB, no plan B. Spud suggested they should have given AVB more time. I think they kept him too long
November 10, 201410 yr In fairness to Rodgers he didn't whine too much after the defeat at the weekend, he knows he has a lot of work to do to get that side back to anywhere near it was last season.  Apparently Rodgers doesn't dictate who the club signs and you have to wonder whose decision it was to pursue the Balotelli signing because it looks such a poor decision to bring him in... Too much dependency on Sturridge now to get fit and scoring, not looking great for Danny I must say he's what 25 now and only has one full, injury free, season playing regular first team football.Â
November 10, 201410 yr The penalty shout aside, he didn't have much to moan about. We didn't need the bus this time. It was a good demonstration of how both teams have gone in different directions since the Anfield game six months ago. From his comments over the weekend, he's basically saying Liverpool is a dive and they can't convince the best players to go there. Â A lot of different factors aligned for them last season, they built up a lot of confidence and momentum and they almost did it. But now Suarez is gone and Sturridge is back to being injured for half the season, they (and Rodgers) have reverted back to their level. Sort of like how Howard Wilkinson had a great season with Leeds and won the title but didn't do much else before or after that. Edited November 10, 201410 yr by Englishman
November 10, 201410 yr Heard his latest.?.. they can't attract players to Liverpool by the sounds of it, despite being the second biggest spenders this season. Big players prefer London apparently. Â Nice one Brendan. Â .
November 10, 201410 yr Big players prefer London apparently. . That's about the only thing that he's said that makes sense :-)
November 10, 201410 yr I see the simpleton has thrown a few more players under the bus to save his arse. He's absolutely shameless.
November 10, 201410 yr I see the simpleton has thrown a few more players under the bus to save his arse. He's absolutely shameless. What's he said now pal
November 10, 201410 yr Basically they didn't sign his first choice players so the ones he now has will have to do. And they couldn't sign them because Liverpool is a sh*thole, which you can't argue with I suppose :).

And they couldn't sign them because Liverpool is a sh*thole, which you can't argue with I suppose :). Don't make sense Liverpool is the greatest club in the best city with the best fans just doesn't add up. Maybe its the fact that LFC ain't the club they think they are. Rodgers is a flash in pan he will soon be yesterdays news. He suits them they have a high opinion of themselves and so does he. This is the man you got let go by reading and watford didn't he? He's a joke and very much like avb a bullsh*tter. Edited November 10, 201410 yr by bluegraham
November 10, 201410 yr He's really trying to get on the good side of the fans, another deal is coming up for Gerrard.
November 11, 201410 yr Basically they didn't sign his first choice players so the ones he now has will have to do. And they couldn't sign them because Liverpool is a sh*thole, which you can't argue with I suppose :). Â I don't think its the city's fault, it's more likely because some players struggle to cope with the prestige and history of playing for Liverpool Football Club. November 11, 201410 yr 16 August 2014. Brendan Rodgers says he has no sympathy for Southampton as they have given up their ambition to be a Champions League club.  "They don't have to sell. You have a choice. Maybe Southampton's objectives have changed. They were looking to be a Champions League club, I believe. They obviously wanted to change"  Well their changed ambition is going really well at the moment.  "The guys have come here because of the status of Liverpool".  Unfortunately, the "status" of Liverpool isn't doing anything to get them above 11th in the table, 9 positions and 11 points behind Southampton.  The article - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/liverpool/11038705/Liverpool-manager-Brendan-Rodgers-says-he-has-no-sympathy-for-big-sellers-Southampton.html  Brilliant. His habit of having past quotes biting him up the backside is wonderful.
November 12, 201410 yr What a d**khead and I didn't think I would say that until I saw that quote about Southampton. Â He epitomises what Liverpool stand for!Â
November 12, 201410 yr Can I just say how happy I am, that Brendan Rodgers has no Premier League medal, I'm glad he'll have nothing to tell his grand kids.
November 12, 201410 yr Can I just say how happy I am, that Brendan Rodgers has no Premier League medal, I'm glad he'll have nothing to tell his grand kids. Â He has. Â He can tell them that he once worked with Jose.
November 13, 201410 yr stupidity at its highest! Mr Rodgers grew up in a Catholic part of Northern Ireland and even played hurling (though his parents were of a mixed marriage i should add)Â some Chelsea fans are anti Irish bigots so I would imagine a minority of people do dislike him solely because he was born on the island across the sea. Utter f**king bollocks. Where did you read that? The Liverpool Fans Manual Of Why Chelsea Fans Are The Worst Fans In The World? Â This site has a fairly large number of Irish members. I've never yet heard any of them say they've come across anti-Irish bigotry from fellow supporters. When I was growing up, many of the pubs had a large Irish presence, and we got on fine with them. I've worked with Irish blokes on the buildings and elsewhere, and I'd have to struggle hard to recall any instance of anti-Irish bigotry. Â You're also confusing hatred with taking the piss. People take the piss out of Mr Rodgers (a) because he's the manager of Liverpool, and (b) because of - and I now refer you to the topic title - because of the utter cringeworthiness of so much of what he says. Â Oh and I wouldn't have known that he "grew up in a Catholic part of Northern Ireland" or that he was the product of a mixed marriage if you hadn't mentioned it. It would never have occurred to me to ask, for the simple reason that the man's religion doesn't interest me. I do know that the person who started this thread is Irish. I don't know his religion either, for the exact same reason that it's never occurred to me to inquire. Â There's enough hatred, enough prejudice in this world already without you ascribing the motivation behind a thread that takes the piss out of Brendan Rodgers to an anti-Irish sentiment that quite simply does not exist.

No. Until I read your post I assumed that he was a Prod (he may be a Prod even though he played Hurling, etc). There are tons of reasons to dislike LFC and Religion doesn't come into those reasons for me.As Big Figure says (and like Moyes last year at Utd) he is criticised mainly because he manages LFC. Some of his quotes don't help. I.e. 'Who is your biggest inspiration?' 'Myself' Most of your posts refer to Ireland. Chip on your shoulder? Edited November 13, 201410 yr by Spudulike
