June 10, 201511 yr Rumours gathering about him leaving. Been linked with Crystal Palace and Swansea in the last couple of weeks and this morning the newest rumour is that West Ham are interested as Bilic is being given the green light to significantly overhaul their squad.
June 10, 201511 yr Will need to be £15 million and over. Proven EPL goalscorer In his prime A few years left on contract France International
June 10, 201511 yr Surely Remy is going to want to be at a club that is winning things though. He's got the taste for it now, he won't want to leave that behind. I really hope these rumour aren't true.

I really hope these rumour aren't true. I hope so. He may be thinking though that if Falcao comes in then he’s going to be 3rd in the pecking order (can’t see us signing someone on huge wages to sit on the bench most weeks). What I will say is it will cost us a fair bit more money that we spent on Remy to bring in someone who can score the amount of goals that he can in England.
June 10, 201511 yr Be disappointed if he leaves us, he clearly is a natural goal scorer and did well when he played. But could be he has found out our move for Falcao is real and maybe Jose wants Falcao and Costa to fight over the first choice spot, leaving Remy looking at being the back up to both. Can understand him looking at that, if that is the situation, and asking to move. Can see us selling for between 7mill-9mill if that turns out to be the case. Could also mean Bamford becomes the 3rd choice striker.
June 10, 201511 yr Odd move from the club if we let him go. Why lose a player who scored more PL goals than his supposed replacement. My only hope is that Jose wants 3 experienced strikers apparently and I'd be surprised to see Bamford in next year's squad.

Last season Diego Costa - One of the best strikers around right now. Remy - Perfect backup when fit Drogba - Experience Next Season ( Possibly ) Diego Costa - One of the best strikers around. Falcao - Looks like he has lost everything that made him great before he joined Monaco Bamford - Inexperienced. If this happens it will be a massive gamble.
June 11, 201511 yr I agree with you Scott. Ideally remy stays and is kept happy with a good amount of game time.
June 11, 201511 yr Can only think this is Remy's desire to leave rather than club wanting to sell...it is euro champs next year so presumably he's worried about his place in France squad...shame though..clubs he has been linked with will be a massive step down, both in teammates and chances of winning silverware...we better ask for big money though..,talk of £8m is laughable
June 11, 201511 yr God, from a double winning side to playing for mid table with Palace or West Ham, surely Remy knows better. 8 Million is not going to buy is left boot, more like 20.
June 11, 201511 yr Why fix something that's not broke? All that was needed was a good enough replacement for Drogba. Now this Falcao business...
June 11, 201511 yr Looks like a repeat of the Demba Ba scenario. When required he came in, played well and scored goals. It might be now in his prime he wants to be the no.1 striker somewhere. I agree with whoever posted the fee should 15m+. I really hope he stays though.
June 11, 201511 yr I hope remy stays he did a decent job for us last season. 19 league appearances 7 goals. If we manage to keep him with costa and a new addition (falcao seems likely) then I would be very pleased.
June 11, 201511 yr 15 million at least if he goes, but why should we sell? Unless he submits a transfer request we should deffo hold on to him. Scored when he was needed to.
June 11, 201511 yr Well, if Falcao is coming, he needs to stay. If we have to rely on Falcao when Costa is injured/suspended, we're f**ked.
June 12, 201511 yr Well, if Falcao is coming, he needs to stay. If we have to rely on Falcao when Costa is injured/suspended, we're f**ked. Totally agree, it would be madness to let Remy go and bring in a crocked mercenary to be back up for Costa. Falcao is the ultimate mercenary footballer who moved for money over playing at a high level at a big club, Monaco were never going to be a European giant, there ground is tiddy, and support non existant. If we are going to be taking such a risk it should be performance related (although i know that's wishful thinking) so if he doesn't perform (which is more than likely going on the last couple of years) his salary reflects this. I don't want him at our club, and i hate all he stands for, and even now when he's been sh*te he still wants more a week than 90% of our squad... He can f**k right off as far as i'm concerned.

Think that's a little harsh but I understand the sentiment. I think the project at Monaco held obvious attractions, it was well-funded, high-paying and there was potential for European success. For me the memories of 2004 are still fairly fresh so I'm not too dismissive of them. I think that's part of the modern game, players going to clubs where money is as important as success. I think that's modern life too isn't it? If someone offered you that much money, tax-free, to live in Monaco would you not consider it? That was always my argument about the 'mercenary' tag back when everyone labelled our players with it. I always considered it odd that anyone of working age who had the responsibilities associated with adulthood would use that label then, and I still do now.
June 12, 201511 yr No, i'm sorry but that's just not the case with Falcao, Monaco were NEVER realistically going to be successful over any period of time, they are just too small a club. ''I think that's part of the modern game, players going to clubs where money is as important as success'' He went there for money only. Lots of players move to a bigger club for more money but rarely, as was the case in Monaco, the Russian club who's name i've already forgotten and that Chinese outfit relinquish the chance of the major European success just to earn more money. ''If someone offered you that much money, tax-free, to live in Monaco would you not consider it?'' Not if (assuming i was a pro footballer) someone else was still going to offer me huge wages (Monaco weren't the only club in for him, he was the hottest striker on the planet at the time) but still be in with a good chance of incredible memories of huge games on the way to winning trophies. Sorry BD but Falcao is the ultimate mercenary (albeit the extreme end of the spectrum) and the more i think about it the less i want him at our club. For me the memories of 2004 are still fairly fresh so I'm not too dismissive of them Me too, but it was a Ranieri induced nightmare and not one in a long list of European triumphs for them. Even with all the 'tax free' benefits they've not been able to attract top players on a regular basis, the last time they won the league was 16 yrs ago !! So Falcao wasn't joining a team who were realistically going to be successful in what most people consider to be any sort of benchmark.. And he knew it, but still joined them.. so THAT'S what makes him a mercenary for me.

Fair enough. Anzhi is a little different from Monaco because the life just didn't seem as good. Honestly speaking, if someone offered me that much money to live in Monaco then I think I'd find it hard to turn down. I think a lot of people would which is why I don't call someone a mercenary for doing something I'd probably do. Calling someone a mercenary....I don't know mate. I wouldn't do it. Opens up a whole moral argument. Again, fair enough. The fact that he now seems willing to drop his wages to stay in this league suggest that maybe his priorities have changed. Maybe that's down to the injury or maybe that's because of him having his first poor season in a long-time. If that's the case wouldn't you give him a chance? Maybe recognise that he's seen the error of his ways perhaps? Haven't we all made mistakes in our life? For me the memories of 2004 are still fairly fresh so I'm not too dismissive of them Me too, but it was a Ranieri induced nightmare and not one in a long list of European triumphs for them. Suppose it's funny that Ricci Carvalho was called that when he came here and now some would still call him the same. Based on everything I've read and heard though, Falcao is a great guy and a proper professional. That's only going to be a good thing for our squad so I'm happy that he's coming here in that regard too. I can't say i understand why people call players mercenaries and I didn't 10 years ago when they labelled our players with that too but if you think that then it's up to you. I simply disagree.

June 12, 201511 yr ''If that's the case wouldn't you give him a chance? Maybe recognise that he's seen the error of his ways perhaps? Haven't we all made mistakes in our life?'' Obviously we are going to have to agree to disagree on Falcao BD (I still think he'd be off to a higher bidder if there was one !), but if/when he comes here and runs out in our shirt i will give him a chance and he'll get my full support.. He'd better f**king earn it Edited June 12, 201511 yr by chelseablueboy
June 12, 201511 yr Author Falcao's priorities have probably only changed because he's now desperate. He had a torrid time at United and if we are letting Remy go for him then that doesn't make a lick of sense. Especially given the fact that Remy looked better in every department last season.

He'd better f**king earn it That's fair enough mate. I made similar arguments about Eto'o so I know where you're coming from. I just think of he's willing to come in and work his arse off on less money, then maybe he's got a 'I'll show them' attitude. Plenty of people are writing them off so if that fires him on, we could have some player on our hands.
June 12, 201511 yr Letting him go would be a mistake. He did great as second striker. I still remember when he hasn't "passed" the medical test in Liverpool and they bought Lambert and Balotelli instead. We didn't expect him to score 20 goals in a season, he just did what Jose and fans wanted from him. He deserves to stay in the club and fight for his spot.
