June 22, 201511 yr Seen enough of Cuadrado now to believe that signing him was a huge blunder. There's a reason no other club would go anywhere near him. He's bloody useless. To think we let De Bruyne and Schurrle go then sign Cuadrado beggars belief. I'd like to know who's sanctioning these ridiculous decisions. The Falcao nonsense just makes things worse. 100% spot on ... plus letting Cech join Arsenal ... 3 x consecutive poor transfer decisions beggars belief ...
June 23, 201511 yr Just commenting on what I've seen. Not stupid enough to base everything on one game but it doesn't look good. He is a lot better than that game but he was so stupid and frustrating in the game it is really hard to feel any different. That's pretty much what you're doing though. Other than that game, he has pretty much had to carry Colombia along. They play some atrocious football at times (forwards, mids and defenders all to blame) and even James has been worse over the span of the tournament.
June 23, 201511 yr James was their best player by a mile and he wasn't even on his best form. Colombia seems they have bigger problems than Falcao, Cuadrado or James but based on that game and the minutes Cuadrado has featured for Chelsea he doesn't look like a smart/good player. I hope Jose is able to get the best out of him. At the moment I feel Cuadrado wont be a success at Chelsea and Falcao is a big mistake.
June 23, 201511 yr Jose Transfers in - players who featured in 1st team under him Tiago (£10 million) , Michael Essien (£24.4 million)Didier Drogba(£24 million), Mateja Kežman (£5.4 million) Arjen Robben (12 million) Ricardo Carvalho (£19.8 million) Paulo Ferreira (£13.3 million). Jiri Jarosik ( 10.5 million) Alex (10.2 million - loaned out) Nuno Morais (free) SWP (21 million) Aseier DelHorno (10.5 million) Lassana Diarra (1 million) Michael Ballack (free !) Kalou (8 million) Sheva (3o million)John Obi Mikel (16 million) Khalid Boulahrouz (?) Ashley Cole (swap +5 million) Florent Malouda (13.5 million) Juliano Benneti (3.7 million) Tel Ben Haim (free) Claudio Pizarro (free) Steve Sidwell (free) fast forward to 2013 Willian (31 million) Matic (22 million) Andre Schurlle (22 million) Mohamad Salah (14.5 million) Kurt Zouma (12.8 million) Marco Van Ginkel (8 million) Samuel Etto (free) Mark Schwarzer (free) Diego Costa (33 million) Cesc Fabergas (29 million) Juan Cuadrado (27 million) Felipe Luis (17 million) Loic Remy (11.6 million) Didier Drogba (free) 38 players bought when he was manager (to play in 1st team, sorry If I missed any player) maybe 8 of them can be deemed as utter turkeys So overall if he has a 21% failure rate at buying talent, that's pretty good and therefore even if Juan Cuadrado stays and Falcao comes both puzzling decisions, I will continue to trust in the manager's judgement

Mohamad Salah (14.5 million) Juan Cuadrado (27 million) e) So yeah - I would go along with that 8 - other players have varying degrees of success but you can probably make a decent argument for any of them, including Salamon
June 23, 201511 yr Yeah, our transfer policy has been a disgrace recently. Fabregas is the new Veron, Costa is an injury-prone wasteman, and Courtois has basically made a career out of being tall. Guessing this is sarcasm. You can single these players out as good transfers, along with maybe a few others, however there has been some terrible ones. Both out and in. I think that schurrle, de bruyne and mata out were mistakes and cuadrado in is looking a silly move. An attacking midfield of hazard, oscar, willian, mata and de bruyne would be everything we need!!

June 23, 201511 yr Think we might be a bit lightweight on set pieces unless we played Snow White in the centre. Never heard you refer to Torres as that before!

I think that schurrle, de bruyne and mata out were mistakes and cuadrado in is looking a silly move. An attacking midfield of hazard, oscar, willian, mata and de bruyne would be everything we need!! Well the reason all three of those left was in search of first-team football, which they simply weren't getting here. José had clearly chosen his preferred [and title-winning] attacking midfield three (Hazard/Oscar/Willian); we can't really expect talent like that to be content with a role as a backup. I don't think those transfers out were as much of an ousting as you are making up. Simply put they wanted a starting berth and they weren't good enough, or, if you prefer, robust enough to get that here. I think it is entirely fair to single out the signings of Fabregas and Costa as evidence for a positive transfer policy considering those two signings made the difference to our first XI which evolved the team from one which finished third to one which won the title at a canter, and won a domestic cup in the process. Admittedly Cuadrado hasn't exactly hit the ground running though. He looked very good for Fiorentina and Colombia so I am looking forward to see what he can do for us, but if he doesn't impress next season I imagine he will be shipped out as a Salah-esque flop.
June 23, 201511 yr The fact Liverpool are getting Firmino for slightly less money than what we got Cuadrado for is quite frustrating. He's younger, arguably played in a better league, the Bundesliga. I just believe he has a higher footballing IQ, we were linked to him quite a number of times i remember correctly. I suppose he'll walk into the Liverpool team though with Sterling leaving, something that cannot be guaranteed with us.

He looked very good for Fiorentina and Colombia so I am looking forward to see what he can do for us, but if he doesn't impress next season I imagine he will be shipped out as a Salah-esque flop. Atleast Salah showed his quality in the CL. Cuadrado has admittedly done nothing of the sort, perhaps Jose watched some videos of him on youtube then signed him on that alone. I think Cuadrado can be classified as the worst transfer we made this decade after Torres. Not only for the money we paid, but how little he's contributed to a title winning team -- please don't make excuses for him (needs a pre season, new to the league etc.), he hasn't even looked as good as you would have thought with Colombia, and instead looks like just another run of the mill winger from some midtable club.
June 23, 201511 yr Such a shame that people on here have only seen this version of Cuadrado. A long lay off before coming to us on top of hardly any playing time has had some people thinking he's a sh*t player, of course many of you don't have anything to compare it to which is understandable but every player, especially someone with the quality of Cuadrado, deserves more than half a season, much of which he spent on the bench.
June 23, 201511 yr In any case, he was a very expensive mistake. We should look to move him on as soon as possible. Although having him as a squad option wouldn't be too bad either, I doubt he's on heavy wages (perhaps 60k to 80k). Signing a more capable winger for a team challenging for titles would be ideal.

The matic deal was another good move that hasnt been mentioned. In all honestly my frustration is what has happened in our attacking midfield. For instance, how much did griezmann go for last year, i know it was earlier days then, but even i noticed his talent, yet 6 months later we buy cuadrado for similar money, sanchez is another. In the last year or so, in this position it seems we have sold good players and over spent on duds. Even willian to some extent, i am one that rates him, he certainly isnt a flop, but for 30m we could have done a lot better.

But this is my point, you're calling him an expensive mistake based on very few starts and a few 20 minute cameos. He needs another season and if he's still under performing then ok he's flopped but he's barely been given a chance.

We can't afford passengers if we want to challenge for trophies and titles.
June 30, 201511 yr Some rumours of a loan to inter Milan have risen. Would include a forced option to buy the year after. Inter also linked with Mikel.
July 1, 201511 yr Jose, u have made a massive mistake ... It's bloody obvious for all to see ... swallow your pride and get rid of at the earliest opportunity ...

July 1, 201511 yr Looked very much a Jose signing. He was on about how he impressed him when he was in Italy years ago and seen him in action.
July 1, 201511 yr Maybe it was his call to sanction the move but I'm pretty sure Faria and guys above him in the heararchy have a say in these. Not saying it wasn't his call but I really think you can't give him all the blame...or credit if he turns out good.
